Everything worked.
She hated how much that should have reassured her and didn't.
Halden noticed her glancing sideways again. "You're still looking at it," he said without accusation.
Mina did not pretend otherwise. "It's small," she said. "I know it's small."
"But."
She exhaled quietly. "But it feels too neat."
That got Halden to look at her properly for the first time in several minutes. He studied her face, then the log, then the moving feeds beyond it.
"Being uneasy isn't the same as being right," he said.
"I know."
"It also isn't the same as being wrong."
Mina blinked once, not expecting that answer.
Halden turned back to his console. "You logged it. Ren flagged hers. That's what competent people do. We don't invent disasters, and we don't ignore bad patterns. We keep watching until the pattern picks a side."
That helped. Not enough to make the unease disappear, but enough to keep it from turning into self-doubt.
