300 Heroes.
As the name suggests, it is a registry recording over three hundred heroes.
Diana had always been quite interested in heroes, especially female ones. Therefore, when Professor Claire Kite and Professor Ryan Hacks appeared in the academy one after another, she rummaged through the library and found this hero registry.
This book, with over six hundred pages, recorded a wartime hero on every two pages. Half a page was dedicated to the portrait of each hero.
Opening 300 Heroes, the one in the first position was the Hero, Bright Gold. The second one following him was the Valkyrie, Alvit St. Demon. And further back...
Diana flipped through it rapidly as if enumerating her family heirlooms, and finally found the person she was looking for inside!
When she took out this hero registry, Dark had already guessed slightly. Looking at it now, he discovered that Diana had indeed found a female hero.
"Look, I told you! She has the exact same blood patterns on her face!" Diana pointed at the portrait in the book and said excitedly.
Dark and Rose leaned in simultaneously. The breath of the three mixed slightly, fermenting continuously like grape wine.
Dark read out the title of that female hero: "Blood Princess!"
...
It was unknown who the author compiling this 300 Heroes was, but if nothing else, their drawing skills were truly superb. The Blood Princess in the portrait was lifelike, as if she were alive and about to walk out of the book.
She was undoubtedly a woman full of charm. Her dark red long hair was deep and alluring. Her overly fair skin left an extremely deep impression.
profound pupils and a high nose bridge, combined with petite yet sensual lips, gave her three-dimensional features that allowed her to stand out from the paper.
There were indeed blood patterns on her face. But they were not as numerous and complex as Robert had described. It was merely a thin blood pattern located on her left cheek, spreading all the way from the corner of her left eye to her jawbone, like a musical note.
In the middle of this blood pattern, it indeed surrounded a symbol resembling a '?'.
But in the written records, she was not a vampire. Moreover, her ears wearing ear studs were not pointed ears like an elf's, but ordinary round ears. The mouth in the painting also did not have fangs like a vampire's.
In the text description, she certainly couldn't be a vampire.
Ophelia Blood was the name of the Blood Princess.
The reason she obtained the title "Blood Princess" stemmed from her origin. Blood was the surname of a minority tribe; they called themselves the "Blood Clan" and worshipped the "Fresh Blood" that supported all life. The talented ones in the clan naturally mastered the powerful and rare "Blood Magic"!
Blood Magic was a small branch within the vast system of magic. Simply put, it was magic that manipulated blood. Extracting energy from blood. Causing the blood inside a human body to riot from a long distance. Directly bursting out of the body, causing the person to be pierced into a hornet's nest by blood. Or even creating terrifying Blood Beasts that fed on blood!
In terms of attainments in Blood Magic, they were not even inferior to another very famous user of Blood Magic—the Vampire!
During the war, in order to deal with the elusive vampires, the Blood Clan provided the Alliance Army with a large amount of data regarding Blood Magic, to facilitate targeted defense and attacks.
For a period of time, the Blood Clan was very active. They hid themselves in dark red cloaks; only the light that occasionally shone on them could illuminate the blood patterns on their faces, making people terrified.
But leaving aside non-human races, even among humans, there existed large and small strange tribes, and the Blood Clan was merely one of them.
Despite the differences in tribal culture, the same human blood flowed through them. When facing a crisis that endangered all of humanity, every tribe played their part and contributed their light and heat in the war without fear of sacrifice.
Some tribes survived and became increasingly prosperous. Some tribes disappeared forever, but their contributions remained forever on the title page of human history.
The Blood Clan belonged to the disappeared ones.
As the saying goes, a tall tree attracts the wind. When they became a weapon against vampires, they also became a thorn in the vampires' side.
The documents recorded that in the middle of the war, the vampires suddenly launched a large-scale attack against the Blood Clan. The Blood Clan failed to withstand the terrifying offensive of the vampires, who held high positions among the Demon race, and were annihilated!
Ophelia Blood escaped the disaster because she had just enrolled in St. Marian at that time. But she lost all her family members from then on.
...
Despite having such a cruel background, Ophelia Blood did not fall silent or become depraved; she was very gentle and kind, possessing a very strong maternal instinct. However, as a hero of the Golden Generation, she was very inconspicuous compared to the Hero, the Valkyrie, and others.
So much so that many people did not even know of her existence. Even Diana, who had always been very interested in hero biographies, only learned from this 300 Heroes that there was such an obscure hero.
And the reason for this phenomenon was not that Ophelia Blood was not powerful enough. It was because she went missing shortly after stepping onto the battlefield!
Ophelia Blood was recorded in this 300 Heroes as a "Sacrificial Hero".
...
"Ophelia Blood."
After finishing the two pages of brief content, Dark inhaled gently, then exhaled fiercely. "Every hero is great."
He sighed and straightened his back. "I'll ask Robert tomorrow if the one he saw was her."
...
Diana was very happy that she had actually been of use. She took out her treasured sweets and drinks to entertain Dark, sharing her likes and observations with him.
Dark stayed in her dormitory for a little while before returning to his own dormitory.
The Magic Guide Spirits were slightly dissatisfied with his lateness, chirping and asking if anything interesting had happened to Little Eevee during class.
Little Eevee finally revealed its proudest smile of the night. It patted its chest and gestured, recounting the various interesting things from class tonight one by one.
Of course, only Sylveon, Magic Beast (Ditto), and others were listening carefully. Gatomon, DemiDevimon, and Trash Slime were blocked outside by the language barrier.
...
Dark sat down at his desk. He connected the events of tonight with a line.
"Assuming what Robert saw wasn't a vampire, but the Blood Princess Ophelia Blood, then he must have come into contact with information related to this hero. This is much more reliable than the theory of 'female + vampire'."
"But what if it isn't the Blood Princess?"
"If what he saw was a real vampire, there's a big problem here. I'm afraid I'll need to have Professor Silf perform some checks on him."
Dark closed his notebook and silently took a breath. The air entering his mouth was full of chill.
...
Deep in the night. After taking a shower, Dark walked out of the bathroom carrying moisture and heat. Finally, before Valentine's Day ended, he remembered one thing he hadn't done tonight.
In his hands, there were still three chocolate boxes to open. He had experienced perhaps too much all day today; while he had enjoyed himself, he also felt some fatigue.
But some things could invigorate the spirit even when one was most exhausted.
He picked one from the three chocolate boxes. It was a flat, square gift box.
After opening it, the unique aroma of chocolate assaulted his nose. He took a look and saw a total of twelve chocolates arranged neatly in the box.
Every chocolate was in the shape of a round bunny. From the slight differences in shape, it could be seen that these should be genuine handmade products.
"It must be Rose's, right?"
Thinking this, Dark found a small rectangular card on the side, which only had "Rose Flotly [Gift]" written on it.
Dark smiled faintly. Meaningful things should always be collected so that there are things to reminisce about in the future.
He placed Rose's card together with Diana's card, then casually picked up one of the long chocolate boxes. Opening the box, inside were long chocolates that looked like cigars.
But after Dark carefully took a bite, he discovered there was a mystery hidden inside this chocolate!
"This is..."
Dark's gaze gradually became strange. He had seen cream and liquor placed inside chocolate. But what the hell was putting meat floss inside? Meat in the heart of chocolate? Heart's flesh?
Dark couldn't help but give a dry laugh, finding his own sudden inspiration amusing. Subsequently, holding the meat floss-filled chocolate stick in his mouth like a cigar, he found a card the size of a coin hidden inside.
The card was only signed with Senior Pandora's name. On the back, however, was a drawing of a lifelike Young Wyvern.
...
"Only the last one left."
Dark solemnly brought over Little Lily's chocolate box. This was the final gift of Valentine's Day; hopefully, it wasn't some kind of prank.
...
February 15th. The first day after Valentine's Day ended.
The students walked into the classroom talking and laughing. But if one looked closely, they would find that today was no different from yesterday or the day before.
At least within the first-year Noble House and Knight House, no new couples appeared. It seemed that although they had eagerly looked forward to the arrival of Valentine's Day, in the end, they were just passing bystanders?
However, the final results wouldn't come out until White Valentine's Day on March 14th, so it wasn't certain yet.
But the students gathered together discussing who gave chocolate to whom, and the final results were all quite bleak. As they chatted, no one chatted anymore. It was as if on the first day after Valentine's Day passed, no one remembered that holiday anymore.
What was discussed more, instead, became that heavy snow yesterday, and that incomparably huge snowman Professor Lily piled up! The enchanted snowman still stood perfectly fine by the lakeside even now.
It was said that late last night, someone saw a little fairy sneaking out of the castle. Afterward, light constantly flashed at the location of the snowman. Looking again in the morning, that snowman had already been transmuted into a Magic Tool...
That was truly a stroke of genius that the students couldn't imagine. And the initiator of the matter was currently standing on the podium excitedly announcing the completion of the new textbook's compilation—though in reality, it wasn't finished.
The only part truly completed was the portion Dark was responsible for. But this didn't prevent her from showing off to the students like she had obtained a new toy. Once it was finally bound into a book, she was going to make a big splash!
In her words, how could the treasure-level textbook exchanged for painstakingly selling her appeal (sex appeal?) only be shown off in front of students? She definitely had to promote it, letting those old professors who always looked at her with colored glasses take a good look at who was St. Marian's most shining gem!
Professor Lily, in a great mood, went all out in the Arithmetic Class, making the little Magisters suffer unspeakably.
...
Once the Arithmetic Class ended, Dark waved to Robert.
"Are you looking for me?" Robert walked over in confusion; this was the first time Dark had actively sought him out.
Virt hesitated in his seat for a while but still followed.
Dark then took out 300 Heroes obtained from Diana, flipped it to the Blood Princess's page, pointed at her portrait, and asked, "Well, Robert, is this the female vampire you saw last night?"
Before his voice fell, he already knew the answer.
Upon catching sight of the Blood Princess's portrait, Robert revealed a look of horror, as if recalling the terrifying scene he saw last night, and trembled, "Yes, it's her! Dark, how did you find it?"
Dark frowned slightly and said, "Calm down, Robert. This is the Blood Princess, a hero of the same generation as the Heroes. She was also a student of St. Marian; perhaps we can still find her in the student archives."
"This female vampire was actually our senior sister?" Virt stepped forward, asking in bewilderment.
Dark glanced at him and pointed to the content in the book, saying, "She is a human of the Blood Clan, a minority tribe, not a vampire."
"Not a vampire?" Hearing this information, Robert finally regained his calm.
Dark wanted to nod, but always felt something was wrong, so he hesitated. Robert and Virt immediately bent down to look. The content in the book was written clearly, and they soon breathed a sigh of relief.
Robert even laughed: "It's good that she's not a vampire. You don't know, I even had a nightmare last night, dreaming that I was bitten by a vampire and turned into a blood slave! That was too terrifying!"
But while he laughed heartily, Virt beside him turned pale, obviously recalling the memory of being bitten by a vampire. Back then, he was almost turned!
He couldn't help saying, "Don't worry, Robert. I'm here by your side."
(If anyone's getting bitten, it'll be me. T_T)
...
After discovering that the person he saw was not a vampire, Robert was obviously much more relaxed; he even had the leisure to chatter:
"Since this Blood Princess is a hero of the Golden Generation, why didn't Principal Cynthia mention her at all during those days she lectured? I've never seen her, so how could I see her from the mist? Could it be that my divination talent worked, and we will encounter her in the future? Thinking about it, I'm actually a little expectant. Maybe she and I are fated, and she'll be my guide. Just like the relationship between Professor Medea and Eudora..."
Virt: "Hey, Robert, you're talking too much."
