"Arrrrr.. kyaa!"
The battle cries echoed through the hell dump. More green imps poured from the darkness, eyes glowing sickly yellow. Dozens of them. Then more.
Elara stood in front of Kyle and unconscious Yua, breathing hard. Sweat cut through the ash on her face.
"Just what I needed. More threats." She snapped her fingers. The last few fireballs split, but smaller this time. Weaker.
'Thud! Thud!'
More imps dropped. But for every one that fell, two more came.
'Right. Because of Kalkai Chamber.' Her shoulders screamed at her. Her mana felt like sludge. That fight had drained 70% of her. She'd been running on spite and caffeine since.
A imp with a jagged bone knife leapt at her. She caught its wrist, twisted, and drove her dagger through its skull.
"Stay down," she growled.
Another came from the left. She was too slow. The knife grazed her ribs. Hot pain.
Kyle tried to push himself up. "Elara—"
"Don't. Move." She didn't look back. "I got this."
