Truly to most it would be frightning sight , a young boy covered in monster blood and mass , yet happily ripping into the next one that came towards him . For him as well it had been quite an experience to learn that the young boy he had rescued had such monstrous strength , he had learned that this was the very reason his clansmen had been hunted to be made as slaves or forced mercenary to some rich families . His mother had sacrificed her own life so that he would be able to run away , though of course reality had been cruel and he a child . He had been captured in the next city and was about to be put to auction when Lu Xiao Tian had found him and helped him escape .
Of course when Lu Xiao Tian had first found out about it he had entertained the thought of killing him for a few moments , seeing as they had not yet become so close that he would shield him from such an organized massacre , but remembering his own situation had discarded it .
And now , now Lu Xiao Tian would be willing to pour in every resource he owned even his own life if it meant that kid , that little kid who had trusted him with his secrets, with his life could openly smile and need not ever again fear for his life .
A few minutes later Hwang Jin returned to him all smiles and bloody and holding something that looked like a energy ore , but one which anyone with eyes could tell to be a very high ranking one .
Hwang Jin handed the ore over to Lu Xiao Tian and began laying down all the information he had gathered while fighting the apes," The apes, I tamed one of them, the one who looked like he was the leader, they gathered here for this energy core, though I ain't sure what's so special about it other than it being a little high ranking. It just suddenly appeared in the area and attracted them to it leading to the small group which we saw. Other monsters were also attracted but they at least managed to retain some sanity and left after seeing the apes forming a group there."
"So you mean to say that the apes no longer retained their sanity after being attracted to the energy core."
"Yeah, the stronger ones still held on for a long time but in the end they all lost their sanity and stayed near the energy core. The apes also seemed a little weaker than they should have considering their levels, they seemed to be moving sluggishly and as if their senses had been dulled leading to their reaction speed being slowed down. Otherwise there is no way I would have been able to beat them so easily, in their berserker state I would have found it hard to deal with 5 of them much less all of them, and even though they are not the smartest they are at least decent at battle strategy so unless something was directly affecting their brain it doesn't make sense."
"But some other monsters managed to retain their sanity even though they were in the same radius as the apes and even retreated as is they had sensed something, Tian ge do you know anything about such a core."
" Yeah, it's a mind fogging core from the the foggy tribes, but what is curious is that the foggy tribe is not native to this forest, much less to any neighboring countries so how did it reach here?"
"Maybe some traveler dropped it?" "While it is possible it is not likely seeing as travelling with the core from where the tribe lives to this forest would a hundred per cent kill them."
"What, why?" "You seriously don't listen in the lessons do you? Anyway the core would fog their brain functions and slowly seep away their strength, killing them. even the shortest route would lead to death a few cities away. So someone most probably put it here for a reason."
Lu Xiao Tian looked at the core it was either the government putting it here to keep the monster colony in control or some noble family so that it would be easier to capture the monsters and auction them without causing them serious harm or expending much effort from their side to capture them.
Either way putting it in the report without knowing the academy's stance was dangerous.
"Alright when we get back we will first see the academy's stance and accordingly we will add it to the report."
Lu Xiao Tian pocketed the energy core as he saw Hwang Jin cleaning his hands and face of the blood splattered on them. A few minutes later they moved forward leaving behind a mountain of corpses.
