Chapter 37 - Asmodeus

I woke up, suffering from a headache.

"What time is it?" I asked myself, trying not to puke.

The dream I had last night, I couldn't remember it. For some reason, it was all I could think about.

From outside, I heard Sophie complaining to Cinderella.

"He didn't even let me get my stuff! He just kicked me out, I swear."

I heard Cinderella scoff. "Sure, the boy who was practically obsessed with women, suddenly doesn't want you in his room. You sure you aren't still high on that blunt you said he had?"

It was laced with a hint of sarcasm. She clearly found it much more amusing than I did.

Maybe I should stay inside for now. I really don't wanna deal with these two.

And to that, I ignored my inner monologue, and opened the door. To my surprise, neither of them were there.

I thought they were speaking from the other room, but now I realized that Cinderella's dorm room was right next to mine. Didn't they care about gender differences?

I'd have to go to Krieg himself & ask for a change in dorms. But first, I needed to figure out everything about this base.

Arthur Leo probably had certain classes, but I didn't think about stalking his classes until now. Fuck!

Why was I so stupid? Mistake after mistake, setback after setback - I couldn't teleport away from my problems this time. The orb wouldn't let me.

I quickly thought to take action. I needed to create some kind of plan for situations like these, where I don't have the capability to defend myself.

Thinking, I came up with a rudimentary system for instances like these. It was probably flawed, but I didn't have much time, and felt like I needed to make it up on the spot.

Step 1: Hide my identity

Luckily, I've already done this as Arthur Leo, but what's stopping me from accidentally saying my real name? I needed to be vigilant in case that kind of thing happened again.

Step 2: Avoid being ruthless or comitting

unecessary crimes. Up until now, I've been killing people left and right, but when compromised, that kind of thing would only be a detriment.

Although I killed a lot of people, I couldn't continue to do so without consequence. Especially not when I can easily get caught. From now on, I could only kill when away from the island, or for self preservation. I can't just murder people everywhere I went like in the War Torn Nation.

I wasn't perfect, I was bound to make mistake. I wasn't some kind of calculating machine that could do no wrong, I was just a normal man who happened to be able to teleport.

I was unable to directly cause mass amounts of damage like other Celestial Angels and Chaotic Demons.

Well, technically I could. However, it would require much more indirect means, like teleporting grenades, and teleporting giant bombs, like that one time I nuked a country.

I would eventually add some more rules, and even refine the previous 2 rules. But for now, it is what it is.

I walked across the hall & decided to look around the island. I was planning on just relaxing for the forseeable future, and getting acclimated to the land.

Suddenly, a thought crossed my mind. I consulted the orb.

"What do I call you, anyway?" I asked, pointing at it.

"Call me? I don't have a name. What would you call me?"

I put my head up to the ceiling, brainstorming for a while. "I have one. How about Danny, after a friend I used to have a long time ago?"

The orb glowed, a seemingly kind gesture. "Fine. I guess you can call me Danny."

-NEW AMERICA-

As the Fat Man & Portal Manipulator looked into the air, they both gave frustrated expressions. The Freedom Junkie had disappeared after they tried to kill him.

The Fat Man sighed. "That guy survived. Imagine talking all that shit just to get beat up, and be randomly shot away. What was that orb on his chest?"

The Portal Manipulator looked up. "Yeah... that thing started glowing right before that barrier appeared to stop us. I suspect that's what let him escape us."

They both looked for damage in the rubble, but neither of them could.

The Portal Manipulator couldn't believe it. Not only were they unable to kill the Freedom Junkie, but they were outplayed in some manner. She looked at the ground where the Freedom Junkie fell.

A small note was left at the site. All it read was...

"Kill the boy. Further the plot. Find Arthur Leo!"

-HELL-

Asmodeus looked throughout the second circle of hell, using high powered black flames to boost his speed - He was flying!

His plan was to find weaker demons that went to the overworld, and to torture them into giving him information.

He knew that when a demon dies in the overworld, they are just sent back to Hell. That meant that demons had nothing to fear when going to the overworld.

The only way a demon could truly die is if they were to die in Hell itself. That way, there would be nothing to go back to, they'd just die.

Asmodeus laughed at the thought. Demons were naturally immortal. They had an indefinite lifespan as well.

He used the black flames to propel himself through hell. Eventually, he saw her.

Leanan!

She was one of Beelzebub's weak demons that was defeated by the Freedom Junkie in the mysterious forest.

"Hello, bug. I think you know why i'm here."

Asmodeus had a horrific smirk, snarled and vain.

Leanan shuddered in fear.

"What the hell do you want? This is Beelzebub's territory. You know that well, you crazy!"

She was desperate.

What she noticed, was that Asmodeus, unlike normal demons, had a unique appearance. All 7 princes did, but Asmodeus was unique in that he looked beautiful to whoever saw him. To some, he would appear as a beautiful woman. To others, he would look tall, dark & handsome.

The odd thing about this ever changing appearance, was that when a demon saw Asmodeus once, they would instantly notice it were him, despite the change in his appearance.

Any other race that was not of demon origin would not be able to tell the change of his appearance.

So, he not only had the Flames of Retribution, but his appearance could also be used to trick people.

Luckily, most non-demons didn't change their tastes in what they believed as beautiful, so he stayed the same to them, for the most part.

He also had another ability. It was a powerfully dangerous ability, even greater than the black fire.

"Leanan. We both know that Beelzebub had abandoned this world. You have no authority or power any more. You are weak, bug."

He smiles sadistically, getting ready for the torture.

Leanan, instantly realizing his brutal grin, began to run. Unfortunately, Asmodeus blasted her with fire.

As she stood there, burning to a crisp, her life ending, Asmodeus smiled. "So tell me, what do you know."

Leanan barely sat up, fearing the immense pain Asmodeus had put her through.

"I'll never tell you! You sicko! Get lost!"

Asmodeus smiled, ear to ear. And with a devious, sociopathic face, he threw out 2 sentences that led Leanan to absolute despair.

"Very well. Let us begin the torture!"
