Chapter 388 - 388. A promise to my stomach

I immediately let go and leaped backward off Zero's shoulders. Who knew what this volatile serum was doing to his biology? For all I knew, the old bastard was about to self-destruct into a localized human explosion.

The moment I landed on the ground, the enforcers seized the opportunity and unleashed a fresh hail of bullets. Because of my shattered ribs and the lingering trauma in my chest, I wasn't nearly as nimble as before. Instead of trying to out-weave and dodge the bullets, I simply manifested my Wind Barrier once more.

The bullets slammed violently into the localized gale, losing all kinetic energy before dropping effortlessly to the ground. I was so proud that my barrier was impenetrable to a point where bullets felt like feathers hitting it's surface.

I maintained my distance, watching from a safe vantage point as Zero fell to his knees, wriggling and thrashing on the floor in absolute agony.
