Chapter 1

Talia had heard the name "Reagan" more times than she cared to admit, but today was the first time she was about to meet the man behind the name. Her mother had been raving about Reagan's work ethic and creativity for months, claiming that their collaboration at the company was changing the course of their business. Talia had always been a little skeptical about the glowing praise her mother showered on Reagan—until now.

Walking into the sleek office building of Natasha's IT innovation , Talia felt a wave of nerves wash over her. She had worked here for a few months already, but today, her mother had insisted she meet Reagan in person. Reagan was an integral part of the company, his design ideas and marketing strategies making waves in the industry. She had heard about his impressive background, but nothing could prepare her for actually meeting the man who had been the subject of so many conversations.

As Talia stepped off the elevator, she spotted Reagan immediately. He was standing near the glass windows that overlooked the city, his back to the entrance as she jotted something down in her notebook. Reagan's dark, wavy hair cascaded down his back, his sharp suit giving off a quiet yet powerful confidence. There was an ease to his presence, as though she belonged in this space, completely at home with who he was.

"Hey," Talia said, her voice betraying the nerves she was trying to hide. "I'm Talia. My mom's been telling me a lot about you."

Reagan turned, his eyes softening as he took in Talia. His smile was warm and inviting, and there was something about it that made Talia feel immediately at ease. "Ah, so you're the daughter. I've heard a lot about you, too," he said, his voice smooth, but with an edge of playful curiosity.

Talia chuckled nervously, taking a step forward. "I hope all good things."

"Of course," Reagan said with a wink. "You've got some big shoes to fill if you want to keep up with the family legacy."

"Not sure I'm ready for that yet," Talia joked, glancing at the office around them. "But hey, I guess I'm here to learn from the best."

Reagan's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Well, if you want to learn, you're in the right place. Let's grab a coffee and go over some of the latest project updates. My brain's a bit fried from all the meetings this morning, but maybe some fresh eyes will help."

Talia agreed, and the two of them made their way to the coffee lounge, chatting about the latest trends in design and the business world. Reagan's ease and confidence were infectious, and Talia found herself opening up more than she usually would with someone she'd just met. As they sat at a small table with coffee in hand, they found themselves laughing and swapping stories—Talia's tales of growing up under the shadow of her mother's success, and Reagan's tales of childhood chaos and family dynamics that felt strangely familiar to Talia.

By the time they finished their coffee, the conversation had shifted from work to more personal topics. They talked about their favorite books, places they'd traveled to, and even their shared love for obscure indie films. Reagan confessed she had an unhealthy obsession with classic rock music, and Talia admitted that she secretly loved cheesy 90s rom-coms.

It wasn't long before Talia realized she was more drawn to Reagan than she had expected. There was something magnetic about him—something deeper than just the spark of attraction. It was the way Reagan made her feel seen, heard, and appreciated, not just for her achievements but for who she was. It had been so long since Talia felt this comfortable with someone she'd just met.

"Well, looks like it's time for me to get back to work," Reagan said, glancing at his watch.

"Yeah, same here," Talia replied, but she hesitated. She didn't want their time together to end. "But, uh, I was wondering… maybe we could hang out sometime? Grab dinner or something? I know we're both busy, but I'd love to actually hang out outside of the office."

Reagan raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "You mean a non-work hangout? I'm in. I think I'd like that."

Talia smiled, feeling a flutter in her chest. "Great. I'll text you. How about next weekend?"

"I'll be there," Reagan said with a grin. "Looking forward to it."

They all went back to work and Talia couldn't focus on her work. She was just thinking about how captivating it was being with Reagan and decided to text him even though she knew he was still working. After a while Reagan had not answered her text and that made Talia overthink and wonder why—she decided to call and check in on the guy only to find out he was on a meeting with a client. She hanged up and went back to work but after a while she started thinking to herself what if Reagan sees me as a nuisance or rather as too much? Questions kept scrolling her head and she decided to leave and go for a walk to ease the tension. Later on as she was walking back to the office Reagan called her. She found herself staring at her phone ring and later picked. Her heart was pounding and racing and she said a faded hello, Reagan said " I was at your desk a while ago and did not find you there so I decided to give you a call and know where you are and if you are okay." Talia was amazed and started mumbling then she later got back to her senses and said she was fine. And she was walking back to the office as they speak. " okay, see you in a few then…" Talia started to see that this was a good deal after all. She walked inside the office with a confident smile only to find another girl gazing at him while he speaks. Talia couldn't help but feel a bit of some jealousy at the moment.
