Yang Hui tapped the table, drawing everyone's attention back to the matter at hand. After all, now that they had arrived at Prometheus Fortress, they were all future companions and comrades-in-arms.
Revil and the others understood Yang Hui's meaning and set aside their disdain and confusion. Each world was different, and they knew nothing of the situation in the Iron-Blooded Orphans world; their earlier astonishment had indeed been a bit reckless.
"Then I shall be the first to report," Sumeragi said. Knowing that Naze Turbine and the other two felt awkward, she stepped forward to clarify things for everyone.
The Iron-Blooded Orphans world also had a unified government, but this government had been established by several noble families. Nobles being what they were, things inevitably went south. While Earth remained under their control, the Moon, Mars, and even Jupiter—which was still under development—were another story.
In short, residents outside of Earth were severely exploited, and everyone dreamed of independence.
The authorities held a military force that maintained order through violence: Gjallarhorn.
While it was officially framed as maintaining public security, they were effectively the thugs of the nobility. If someone was disobedient or "unreasonable," they were simply beaten into submission.
Because of this global backdrop, the world was in a state of chaos. Space pirates were innumerable, and a vast number of various corporations and enterprises existed beyond Earth.
Why mention these corporations? Because these enterprises possessed their own military forces!
Outside of Earth, as long as one had the money, one could acquire Mobile Workers, MS, and warships—anything was available. If the military forces owned by these corporations were unified, they would certainly be no weaker than Gjallarhorn!
Did Gjallarhorn not intervene?
As long as these entities did not touch the interests of the unified government—the Seven Stars Families—Gjallarhorn left them alone. They even adopted a strategy of "using barbarians to control barbarians," allowing them to fight amongst themselves to weaken each other's strength.
When Sumeragi and her team descended into this world, it was the first time they didn't arrive via rebirth as infants. Instead, they appeared directly with their full-grown bodies in their twenties. Their arrival point was a Martian city—specifically, the city where Gundelia Lein was about to launch an independence movement.
Their identities were members of a small security company. Though small in scale, they had an excellent reputation within the industry.
Thus, Gundelia Lein sought them out, hiring them as her bodyguards for her journey to Earth. However, because their numbers were so few, Gundelia Lein remained uneasy and hired another Martian security company: Chryse Guard Security, abbreviated as CGS. This was the predecessor of Tekkadan, the security company where Orga Itsuka and Mikazuki Augus were stationed.
Since they hadn't grown up in this world like previous missions, Sumeragi and the others had no time or opportunity to lay groundwork in advance. They could only follow the mission flow and accept Gundelia Lein's employment.
Then... Gjallarhorn received word. Although the Martian city was remote, it still provided benefits to the Seven Stars Families. Moreover, if one city gained independence, would other off-world cities follow suit? They absolutely could not allow it, so they dispatched forces to intercept them.
The events that followed were similar to the original plot. From Mars to Earth, they fought alongside Tekkadan and made contact with the Turbines—a subordinate organization of the massive conglomerate Teiwaz, which was based in the Jupiter sphere. They became sworn brothers with the leader of the Turbines, Naze Turbine. After a bumpy journey, they reached Earth and achieved independence for the Martian city.
Then... things changed completely. A brief period of stability gave Sumeragi and the others an opportunity. After seeing the threats hidden behind the scenes, Sumeragi convinced Orga Itsuka and Naze Turbine to secretly expand their influence and increase their combat power.
It was at this time that McGillis Fareed—a member of the Seven Stars Families who desperately wanted to change the corrupt status quo of Gjallarhorn—made contact. They decided to assist him in overthrowing the rule of the Seven Stars Families. In the end, they launched an armed revolution together and achieved success.
According to the original historical trajectory, the armed coup failed because the allies McGillis Fareed had secretly contacted betrayed him at the last moment, failing to provide support as promised. The fleet he led, along with Tekkadan, was isolated and fell to the Arianrhod Fleet.
But with the addition of Sumeragi and her team, there was no need to worry about such issues. The Seven Stars Families were directly abandoned and finally ousted from power together. The other major powers in the economic blocks had no chance to turn traitor under the threat of Graham and the others. Furthermore, Graham and his team had brought their own Mobile Suits. After converting all armaments to physical weapons, the Arianrhod Fleet and even the Seven Stars' reinforcement fleets couldn't even make a splash in front of them.
Not to mention the intelligence network managed by Wang Liu Mei and Sumeragi's tactical command; they had eliminated all potential causes of failure from the very beginning. How could they lose?
In the end, the Seven Stars Families were ousted, and McGillis Fareed's armed revolution succeeded. However, he ended up dying alongside his former friend Gaelio Bauduin, never living to see the victorious future. The new unified government was renamed the Federation and implemented a parliamentary system. Each economic block would elect several representatives to participate, including Gundelia Lein.
As for the Speaker and the standing committee members... Wang Liu Mei remarked that there were plenty of puppets; if there weren't enough, they could just find more.
The only ones who followed Sumeragi and her group to Prometheus Fortress were Naze Turbine's Turbines and Orga Itsuka's Tekkadan. This was because the government was filled with puppets who didn't need to know about such things. Liumei planned to improve Gundelia Lein's abilities and prestige to push her into the position of Speaker.
The people they brought were those they could trust and who could be of use to Prometheus Fortress.
"That is the situation."
"Mephis, there's more than one way to descend?" Yang Hui asked Mephis. Sumeragi's start this time had been quite difficult. If not for their superior abilities, it would have been truly hard to achieve a 100% World Deviation Level without prior knowledge of the plot.
[Yes. Currently, it is divided into two types: Direct Descent and Rebirth Descent. It is completely random.]
"Currently? Will there be other ways in the future?"
[Insufficient Permissions.]
"Tell me immediately the next time this happens."
[Understood.]
Now, everyone understood why mere heads of mercenary organizations were qualified to represent a world at the decision-making level, and they no longer looked down on them.
"Next is the situation on our end."
Following this, Flit and Jehart together recounted their experiences in the world of Over Limit Hunter Kaineng, also helping to ease the pressure on the tense Aguer.
As before, they had been reborn in that world as infants. Unfortunately, they were all born in the Lunar Autonomous City-State POLA, and all into commoner families. With no background to exploit, their start was fraught with immense difficulty.
Through gradual effort, they slowly gained a network of connections, an intelligence web, status, and power... But as they learned more, their headaches only grew.
There were three main powers in this world: the Earth Federation Republic ROVIE, the Lunar Autonomous City-State POLA, and the Mars Third Republic TROM. There was also an additional force: the Crowned Skull Cosmic Pirates CSP.
Because the members of the CSP were radical Moon-dwellers who had been exiled after losing a struggle, their goal had always been targeted at the Lunar Autonomous City-State POLA. At the same time, they were far weaker than the three major powers, making them easy to read and providing opportunities for negotiation and cooperation.
But the other three powers... in the words of Flit and Jehart, they were a tangled mess!
In the year 2413 AD, fifty autonomous regions near the Moon, dissatisfied with the Earth Federation Government's imposition of a stamp tax, unilaterally declared their secession from the Earth Federation. After multiple failed attempts at coordination, the situation escalated into war. The Earth Federation Government dispatched a Space Fleet to attack the Moon. Leveraging superior, flexible tactics and Britz Tacteer Manufacturing Technology, the Moon actually held its own against the Earth Federation Government for seven years. Finally, the Earth Federation Government and the Lunar Federation reached a ceasefire agreement in the lunar capital, Labas. The Earth Federation Government rescinded the stamp tax order, and the Lunar City-State formally returned to the Earth Federation Government. However, the Lunar City-State enjoyed autonomy and self-defense rights (an army) superior to Earth's autonomous regions. Its leader was not called the Chairman of the Autonomous Region, but the Chairman of the Lunar Federation—essentially a state within a state.
The resistance of the Lunar City-State gradually resonated among space immigrants, and the Earth Federation Government slowly lost its binding authority over the space autonomous regions.
In 2438 AD, the Mars Autonomous Region, which possessed over a hundred space autonomous regions, declared its independence from Earth's control and established the Mars Third Republic TROM. Due to the vast distance and the difficulty of deploying troops, the Earth Federation Government launched economic sanctions against the Mars Autonomous Region that lasted for decades. The relationship between Earth and Mars gradually developed into a Cold War, with both sides doing their utmost to criticize the other to win the recognition and support of neutral autonomous regions. The Earth Federation Government regarded the Mars Third Republic as a rebel group, while the Mars Third Republic viewed the Earth Federation Government as a corrupt regime that polluted the Earth and abused resources.
The result was that the three powers each harbored their own ulterior motives; all wanted independence, yet none could completely isolate the others. All three wanted to be the hegemon, but none had the strength to achieve it. Petty maneuvers and friction were constant, as were shameless tactics like economic sanctions.
Flit and Jehart judged that it was absolutely impossible for this world to completely stabilize in a short period of time. To achieve total stability and become a reliable rear base for Prometheus Fortress, it would take at least fifty years to even have a chance.
Note that this was only a "chance," not a certainty.
Furthermore, because of the Main Quest, they simply didn't have that much time to handle the relationships between the three major powers. They could only follow the Main Quest, saving whoever could be saved and intervening in major events whenever possible.
Fortunately, the World Deviation Level successfully broke 100%, earning them the qualification to connect the world.
In the final result, the members of the CSP realized the long-held wish of several generations and returned to the Lunar Autonomous City-State POLA, no longer displaced pirates. The temporary acting chairman of Labas, Nangong Xian, was arrested, and the war was temporarily halted.
However, the existence of the Portal absolutely could not be known by the three major powers, and the subsequent affairs of this world still needed to be handled slowly.
Among those brought back to Prometheus Fortress were the four male protagonists, the rescued Wolfgang, the somewhat ordinary Ding Yi, the cool-headed Yuwen Feigong, the natural-born soldier Torey, Carmen, Maximon, Caruso, Princess Aguer, and others. Even most of the Flag Knights of the CSP knew nothing of the Portal or Prometheus Fortress.
