Chapter 27: The Breaking Point

The disaster happened during the main course. A young waiter, clearly new and visibly nervous under the weight of serving the city's most feared CEO, approached with a fresh bottle of Bordeaux. As he leaned in to pour, a sudden burst of laughter from a nearby table startled him. His hand slipped. A dark, crimson splash of wine landed squarely on Sandra's champagne silk lap, spreading like a blooming wound across her designer dress.

The silence that followed was deafening. The waiter's face turned ashen. "I—I am so sorry, Madam. Please, let me—"

He never finished the sentence. Sandra exploded. The carefully curated mask of the "changed woman" shattered in an instant. She surged to her feet, her chair screeching against the marble. "Are you an idiot?" she shrieked, the high-pitched venom of the mall incident returning in full force. Before Liam could even process the movement, Sandra's hand flew out. Slap. The sound of her palm hitting the young man's cheek echoed through the silent dining room. "This dress costs more than your entire village! Do you have any idea who I am?"

Liam didn't move for a long moment. He looked at the waiter, whose head was bowed in shame, and then at Sandra, whose face was contorted with a primitive, ugly rage. The entire restaurant was watching.

"Sandra," Liam said, his voice so low it was almost a whisper, yet it cut through her screaming like a blade.

"Liam, tell them!" she demanded, turning to him for support. "Tell them to fire this useless boy! Look at my dress!"

Liam stood up slowly. He walked over to the waiter, placed a hand on the young man's shoulder, and looked him in the eye. "Go to the kitchen. Take the rest of the night off. You're not in trouble." He then turned to Sandra. The coldness in his eyes was absolute—a winter so deep that no sun could melt it. "You asked me if I knew who you were, Sandra. I do. You are exactly the person I thought you were at the mall. A cruel, hollow girl with no soul."

"Liam, he ruined my dress!" she gasped, shocked by his tone.

"I own this restaurant, Sandra," Liam said, leaning in close so only she could hear. "And I don't allow garbage in my dining room. My driver will take you home. Do not call me. Do not have your father call mine. If I ever see your face again, I will ensure the Adenuga name is erased from every contract in this city." He turned and walked out, leaving her standing alone in the center of the room, the stain on her dress matching the dark, permanent stain on her reputation. He needed to breathe. He needed to see someone who didn't care about designer labels.
