The next morning, Alaric woke up after they had been trapped overnight inside the car as the fog had not receded. He looked around with his sleepy eyes and saw that it was already morning. Wells and Jasper were sleeping across from him, leaning against one side of the car. His sister and Octavia, meanwhile, were sleeping against his body. He closed his eyes for a second as his sleepiness began to fade, allowing him to focus better. As he yawned, he opened his eyes again and looked above his head, seeing that there was no more acid fog in the air.
It was time to depart, so he nuzzled his nose softly against his sister's, making her nose itch as he played around, caressing hers with his. After a while, Clarke opened her eyes with a sleepy and cute look as she gazed at him. She smiled as she kissed his lips without saying anything, then closed her eyes, enjoying the moment as she entangled her tongue with his for a while before separating. "Morning, brother."
"Morning, love. It's already morning; we can leave this place."
"We should. We've already wasted so much precious time not coming back to treat Finn sooner, time he doesn't have. I don't know how much longer he'll be able to last." Clarke promptly left her brother's embrace as she looked around for her bag.
Alaric then kicked Wells' feet softly, making him wake up suddenly, his eyes flying open in alert.
"It's morning already, bro. Get up!"
"Fuck! Couldn't you wake me up more nicely, Alaric?" Wells leaned against the car, calming his spiking heart rate.
"We need to go! Get up, guys!" Clarke said as she opened the car door and stepped out. She looked around the place as she breathed the fresh morning air deeply, enjoying it. "The fog's cleared. Come on. Let's go. Finn's waiting."
"Mh~...." Octavia groaned softly as she leaned against Alaric's chest, lazily waking up. "I don't feel so good."
Alaric caressed her hair tenderly. "Headache?"
"Mhm." Octavia nodded as she opened her eyes and looked at him.
"You shouldn't have drunk that much, baby." Alaric smiled at her. "But I have the perfect medicine for it."
"Hnn~!" Octavia's eyes slithered in joy as she kissed her lover, savoring the moment.
Alaric, not satisfied with just that, also started caressing her pretty, perky ass with his right hand as they kissed. Octavia squirmed against him while pushing back into his naughty hand.
"Much better." She snickered in contentment after they separated.
"Come on, Alaric! Octavia! We're waiting for you both!" Clarke yelled from outside as Jasper and Wells were already out of the car.
"Coming!"
..............
The group moved through the forest as the walk helped to wake them up.
"Baby, pass me the water, please."
Hearing her brother, Clarke rummaged through her backpack, picked up the improvised canteen, and passed it to him.
"Thanks, love." Alaric smiled at her and took big gulps.
"Ugh...!" He exclaimed as he enjoyed it. "It doesn't taste bad at all."
"Someone wants a sip?" he offered to the others.
"I want some." Octavia said as she took it.
"Pass it to me after you, Octavia. I need it, ugh..." Jasper groaned, as he was also pretty wasted. Drinking that aged drink was a blow to the head.
"So... what do you think?" Alaric asked as he walked beside Wells. "After getting back to the dropship, we need to start thinking about how we can get to that fucking mountain if the pass is blocked by whoever's out there."
"We can't do this with just us." Wells began thinking about it. "The whole group needs to work together if we want to survive."
"And I don't see that happening with Bellamy leading them without rules."
"Yeah... I'm starting to get jumpy after the sudden appearance of Grounders and now this chemical fog..."
"Why is that?" Wells asked as he took his improvised canteen from his backpack and began drinking.
"Because of the unknown. How many of them are out there?" Alaric looked around the forest as they walked before setting his eyes on his sister and Octavia, who were walking side by side in front, chatting with each other and smiling.
"Who are those people? Or whatever the fuck they are..." He finally said, remembering that weird-looking skull head.
"Are they just a few? Or many? They live and act like cavemen? Or are they a huge and organized society? Are they just a bunch of barbarians or civilized?"
"It isn't the same dealing with animals as dealing with an intelligent and thinking being. We came here with the mentality that there was no more life on Earth! That we were the last of humanity in The Ark."
"Are they friendly or not? Will we be attacked today? Tomorrow? Or maybe never?"
"So yeah, I'm uneasy as fuck. All I'm hoping is that the people back in the Ark come as quickly as possible to the planet, but we can't communicate with them because the fucking dropship's communication system is fucked up."
"But if we can get to that mountain, maybe we can find the parts needed to repair it. It was a military base after all."
Wells and Jasper, who was also walking beside them, listened silently to his words and began getting restless after making sense of it.
"In any case, with Bellamy in charge, we won't last long enough. I'm telling you." Wells said after a while. "You should lead."
"What? Me?" Alaric snickered. "I just want to enjoy my time on Earth with my girls. Why should I care for a bunch of idiots? I don't come to play Messiah, nor do I have some savior fetish."
"You lead them." Alaric sent him a mocking smile.
"You and I know they'll probably kill me instead of following me." Wells rolled his eyes.
"If you were to lead, I'd follow you." Jasper, beside them, spoke up. "I believe a lot of others think like me."
"See?" Wells quickly pushed his idea of Alaric leading again. "I've seen them looking at you with more respect than they do at Bellamy and his group."
"That's fear. As I stand against his group of cheerleaders without a care." Alaric had a mocking smirk.
"Maybe. But there was more than just that. They know you're capable." Wells continued. "In any case, it doesn't matter. Look at it like this: you want to protect your sister and Octavia, right? Taking control of the group, you can make it a safe place for them."
"Think about it."
Alaric knew he was right, but it was bloody bothersome and exhausting to lead a bunch of unruly guys into something that could be worth something.
"I don't know... I'll sleep on it."
"Don't take too long. Now is the time to act." Wells sighed.
As they continued marching, getting closer to the camp, there was suddenly a girlish, high-pitched scream in the distance. "Aaaaaahhhhh!"
They stopped as they looked in the direction of the scream. "Who was that?" Clarke asked as she came closer to them with Octavia.
"Do we wanna know?" Alaric sighed.
"It sounded like a terrified girl's scream." Jasper pointed out.
"Maybe someone needs help. We're close to the dropship, so it must be one of our own. We should go and take a look." Clarke took her brother's hand and tried to pull him along.
He sighed and relented to her because if he didn't, he'd know no end of it.
"See? Leadership, Alaric." Wells smirked at him.
"Fuck you." He said without looking back as he started walking.
"What was that about leadership?" Clarke asked him, confused.
"Aaah... I don't know, don't know. Don't ask."
