Dominic brought the bag of gems into the house and set them down in the sitting room so that he could go through them with Amie in relative quiet.
Then he realized that the house was actually unnervingly silent.
Everyone had left, either to work, or back home.

The house hadn't been this empty in a long time, and the only people that Dominic could hear moving around were the staff, and who was most likely Prince Russel's wife.
She didn't move with the same efficient step that the staff did, more of a slow stroll, and she was limping.
Most likely holding their child on one hip.
They had taken up rooms in the Manor, despite the Prince initially intending to move either to the new bank building or to one of the outlying courtyards. Perhaps even a house in town.
