Chapter 270 - Shadows of the Past 2

In the bedroom of Miria

Miria smiled tenderly. With a wave of her hand, she used her powers to pull the chair closer to the bed and invited Asher to sit right beside her. Asher sat down, his shoulders heavy.

"It dates back to when I was still just a sorcerer, not yet a vampire. So, not immortal. I was studying at a human high school when I met the woman who became the love of my life. Your great-great… I don't even know exactly how many generations it is. But it was exactly one hundred years ago."

Miria's eyes widened slightly.

"You're saying she was my great-grandmother?"

"Yes, but not directly. She was the sister of your great-grandfather. A kind of distant relative."

"Oh… I see. So it's true that her name was also Miria?"

"Yes," Asher replied with a nostalgic smile. "And the strangest part is how strikingly similar you two are. Not just physically… but in personality too. Except she had brown eyes and black hair. The opposite of you, with your brown hair and those unique violet eyes."

Miria remained silent for a moment, absorbing the information, then asked softly:

"What happened next?"

Asher closed his eyes for a moment, diving back into his memories.

"We were deeply in love. But there were jealous people. One of them… was Miley."

"Miley?" Miria repeated.

"Yes. She was a close friend. A vampire. We each knew the other's secret. When I started my relationship with Miria, Miley immediately forbade me from continuing. She said it was too dangerous: I didn't know yet that Miria was a witch, and she warned me about the risks of getting involved with a human. But I didn't care. I kept seeing her."

Asher paused, his voice heavy with emotion.

"Miley did everything she could to make Miria discover that I was a sorcerer. Until the day I was put in the pillory. With no way out, I confessed everything to her. I didn't want to lose her."

He lifted his head, a proud yet pained smile on his lips.

"To my great surprise, I discovered that she belonged to the same world as me. You can't imagine how happy I was that day."

Miria gently squeezed

his hand, encouraging him to continue.
