The road was simply too damn peaceful. Traveler after traveler passed through the route but almost none of them encountered enough trouble to justify stepping in.
For an entire week, Alden and Aemirya remained hidden within the forest, patiently waiting for the perfect opportunity but finding an easy target, however was far easier said than done.
Hell, just yesterday, they had even tried approaching a passing merchant caravan, hiding their ranks and pretending to be unfortunate travelers who had barely escaped a monster attack.
The merchants had looked at the two of them once and called them "barbaric forest bastards" and burst into laughter before driving away.
