Chapter 80 - Nebiros Patriarch

[Hajime POV]

I flew through wall after wall toward the strongest individual that I could find.

They were one of 4 ultimate-class beings that I could sense throughout the facility, and the strongest out of them all.

The other two were standing at the prison, where Monet was headed, while the fourth one was guarding another prisoner nearby.

I had a feeling that the last one was Kuroka, while the prisoner next to her was probably Shirone. There also seemed to be two high-class guards stationed outside the room.

It was curious that they only had three ultimate-class here, especially when Kuroka was a potential threat, but the more I thought about it, the more I understood their thinking.

Kuroka was a member of the Nebiros head's peerage. They likely assumed she'd never rebel because they had her sister, so even if they would perform tests on Shirone, Kuroka would stay since she wouldn't leave her sister. Of course, canonically, they'd be proven wrong in the dumbest possible move from Kuroka, but given she's a teenager with limited education, such a thing is understandable.

She murdered her king to stop them from experimenting on her sister, left to avoid prosecution (either for her or her sister), and only returned once she was stronger and had more experience, yet still didn't have enough experience to realize or understand why her sister rejected going with her.

I refocused on the person I assumed was the patriarch. The only way I could prevent the tragedy from happening would be to end things now. It was why I gave Jenny and Monet orders to kill all his men. Once, every prisoner was evacuated, I'd crater this place, hopefully leaving no evidence behind that could be traced back to us.

It wasn't a perfect plan, mind you, but it was decent enough given the near total lack of information. Literally the only information I had was that the Nebiros were performing illegal experiments, and that Kuroka would, if given the opportunity, kill her king in a few months at most.

Reaching the room that I sensed the figure in, I double-checked my invisibility before flying in, finding myself in the middle of an interesting conversation.

The patriarch of the Nebiros clan was currently in the middle of a voice call with Euclid Lucifuge.

"-etter hope they do, Crawforde! If our cooperation is found out, that fraud bastard will be the least of your concerns," Euclid shouted, enraged.

Fraud bastard? Given what I know about him, he's probably talking about Sirzechs. He's the biggest fraud any Old Satan fanatic, and given Euclid is a Lucifuge, that goes doubly so for the Lucifer title. As for being a bastard, that's probably because the siscon is jealous.

"I understand, Lord Euclid. There's no need to concern yourself. If it comes down to it, my bishop and I should be able to handle things easily," Crawforde reassured.

"What's your progress on taking control of the Spirit Fruit shipments?" Euclid pivoted the conversation.

"Almost 50% complete. We've been moving slowly to avoid arousing any suspicion, but we've been dealing with a few headaches recently that have made things harder."

"I don't want excuses, I want results," Euclid demanded.

"I'm aware, Lord Euclid. I'll inform the men to redouble their efforts at once."

"See to it."

From there, the topic shifted to the research the Nebiros were conducting, with the Toujou sisters showing the most promising results.

Having heard enough, I flew past the door that led to the office, shapeshifting into a very familiar figure, drawing a sword from my inventory, and dropping my invisibility.

I had, at least for now, transformed into Okita Souji, Sirzech's knight.

I planned to bust down the door and frame Sirzechs in front of Euclid. With Monet's powers, if they scavenged what remained of this place, it was very likely Euclid might believe that his dear sister Grayfia helped to ruin all his efforts. Of course, that's assuming he doesn't start hiding, believing she's aware he's still alive and afraid to face her.

[Third Person POV]

Taking his sword, Hajime coated it in haki and sliced through the door, which fell off its hinges.

"Hmm. Still wrong," he said loud enough to be heard, while staring at his sword. He wanted them to think Souji was training something, which would explain any strangeness in his actions or attitude.

"Who- Souji Okita!" Crawforde exclaimed, surprised by the uninvited guest.

"Lord Nebiros, how are-" Hajime momentarily paused, seeing Euclid's video on screen.

"Euclid? How is that-" shaking his head to 'distance' himself from any thoughts, Hajime put on a strong act, pretending as if he was shocked by Euclid being alive but still had a duty to do.

"Lord Nebiros, on behalf of the Four Satans, you are under arrest for illegal experimentation, acts against nature, smuggling, theft, and consorting with terrorist groups. You and all your men are to surrender before awaiting trial. Any resistance will be met as an act of treason."

Hajime wasn't sure how Lord Nebiros would act, but he hoped that Euclid would start panicking on his end. It was just 'confirmed' that the Four Satans were aware of their illegal dealings and were bringing the hammer down. Even though it was all an act, Hajime believed the Satans would find something after what was about to go down, since they'd need to investigate regardless.

A magic circle appeared in front of Lord Nebiros, signaling his opinion. Using body flicker and haki, Hajime appeared behind Lord Nebiros, with a gaping wound across his chest.

The magic circle flickered out of existence, while Hajime shut off Euclid's call.

Before Lord Nebiros could prepare any retaliation, Hajime had an idea.

Summoning a bunch of clones, Hajime had them hold Nebiros' and his eyes open while using his Geass, intending on causing maximum chaos, just like Rizevim wants.

He gave Crawforde Nebiros three instructions.

1: Gather all information about their illegal experiments that exists in the lab and hand it over to him.

2: Reveal the experiments you did on television, explaining the crimes you took to accomplish it, and name anyone in the current devil government who worked with you in any way.

3: Once you finish the televised reveal, kill yourself.

His actions would not only clean up the dirtiest part of the current devil government but would also create a diplomatic incident that would keep them busy for years.

Despite being one of the stronger factions with two transcendant-class beings, the devils were surprisingly weak, constantly hampered by infighting among their three major factions.

Even though he didn't exactly like the devils, Hajime didn't think they were all terrible. Rias, Sona, and Sairaorg were the leaders of the next generation and were all very progressive in their thinking. However, given the current government, even if they obtained any level of power, they'd still be limited by established interests.

While this incident might spill over into the wider supernatural world, Hajime knew that things had been building in the background for years. All Hajime was doing was pushing things forward.

Feeling the entire facility shake, Hajime, sensing the energy erupt near Jenny, assumed she had done something, shrugging it off before feeling Kuroka's energy start moving.

Creating a clone to watch over Crawforde, the real Hajime went over, preparing to intercept her.

Hajime might be able to beat her in a fight, but that'd cause problems for him in the short term. He also wouldn't use his Geass on her. She was the victim here, and though it'd make things simpler, it would be problematic.

As Kuroka's energy signature bounded down the hallway, Hajime created two clones that phased through the ground, moving in Shirone's direction.

If he had his suitcase on him, it'd be possible to hide her away while he finished things here, but Monet was currently getting the prisoners out. Judging by the energy signatures, most from the prison wing were in, and just a few remained.

Jenny had just started fighting a group of guards, but didn't seem to be in any trouble.

He still had his clones with them, so they'd be fine, even in emergencies.

Moments later, Kuroka arrived.

She didn't hesitate at all. Seeing a stranger, she immediately covered her hands with touki before throwing a fist at his chest.

Hajime blocked it with armament haki, deflecting the attack into a wall, leaving a large dent.

Kuroka was trained well, though. She followed up with a spinning kick, which Hajime caught with both hands, which allowed Kuroka to wrap her tails around his arms like ropes, strengthening them with touki.

Planting both feet on the ground, Kuroka tried turning herself to pull him up and along. Sadly for her, Hajime was using chakra to glue himself to the floor before he turned it around on her.

Several chakra threads moved out from his fingers. Though it wasn't a technique Jiraiya was an expert in, Hajime wanted to learn to use chakra puppets, something he felt had immense potential.

Wrapping the chakra threads around Kuroka's tail, they slinked past until they grabbed her by the waist. Hearing a surprised noise from her, Hajimee sprinted up the wall and dragged her with him until he was standing upside down, Kuroka being held like a piñata.

From there, Hajime started spinning her, moving her around in tiny circles, slowly building it until she was almost hitting the walls.

Hajime then added some spin to his chakra, turning her in his hands like she was riding the Teacups. His chakra folded over itself multiple times, each time moving through itself like an untangleable rope.

The entire time, Kuroka was screaming at him to stop, but Hajime wasn't going to listen to her when she was still working for the enemy.

After a solid minute, he quickly slowed to a stop before extending the strings down and dropping her on the floor.

Kuroka, realizing she was free, tried standing up, but the dizziness sent her tumbling to the ground in a comical way, at least it would be if they had been somewhere else.

Extending his hand again, more chakra threads came out and bound the nekoshou, arms wrapped by her tails, legs stuck together.

She was strong enough to break it, but it didn't matter, at least right now.

"H-hey wh-wh- you shouldn't s-s- pin people l-l-like that," Kuroka tried to admonish him, but the vertigo made it impossible.

"If you weren't working for a psychopath, then I might be more inclined to listen." Hajime cut right to the chase.

"It's the only way to save my sister!" Kuroka defended herself.

"By risking her life?"

"What do you mean?"

"I'm not sure how far along your master's research has come, but I am aware that you've shown most of your use. It might be a couple of days, maybe a few months if you're lucky, but for his experiments, he's gotten whatever he could from you. What do you think will happen then, hmm?"

Kuroka wasn't stupid; she knew better than to trust a devil's word, but given her mother's past affiliation and their ignorance of the wider supernatural world, she decided to become Crawforde's bishop to provide something for her sister.

"How can I trust you aren't lying?" Kuroka would do anything to keep her sister safe, but that didn't mean she would betray Crawforde easily. At the moment, he hadn't decided to experiment on Shirone and had only shown the sisters kindness. Unless she were certain the stranger before her was lying, she wouldn't betray the man who helped keep her sister safe all these years, even if he was a jerk.

If this man died, she'd be risking Shirone's life for nothing.

"Follow me." Hajime released her from the strings and walked her to Crawforde's office, where the man was busy downloading all the information for Hajime.

On the main screen, several open files indicated ongoing research, which closed once downloaded, while new files appeared, repeating the cycle.

As Kuroka saw some photos from the experiments, she vomited on the carpet, panicking once she realized what was going on.

"Relax, he won't care about you. I used my power on him. Once he hands me the data, he'll broadcast his crimes, associates, and suicide. At most, he'll survive a few days."

Kuroka, who watched as her master worked to reveal his crimes, was confused but ultimately decided to side with the stranger. A decision she was glad to make, as moments later, a clone flew out through the wall, carrying a white-haired child in his arms, whom Kuroka pounced on, tearing them away from the disappearing clone.
