Chapter 6 - Chapter six

We both stood there until my dad came over. "Adnois, what's taking so long?" He said before looking up at us and then he saw Xavier with his family. My dad smiled happily. "Welcome! I'm Mr. Kim! This is my daughter, Adnois! Please! Come in!" My dad said happily, pulling Xavier inside and letting his family come in. "Please take your shoes off before fully stepping into the house!" He said kindly. I moved out of the way to let them come in more and to feel more comfortable.

His parents looked up at me. I gently smiled at them. "Hello, my name is Adnois. Nice to meet you." I put my hand out for them to shake. His mom smiled and shook my hand. "Nice to meet you Adnois! I'm Xavier's mom, Cheryl. This is my husband, Thomas." She spoke. Her husband looked at me and slowly brought his hand out or me to shake it. I looked up at him and smiled softly at him. I shook his hand. "Pleasure to meet you sir." I spoke. He nodded his head before pulling his hand away and crossing his arm.

Xavier leaned down and whispered. "Don't mind him. He is just acting like this for your dad basically." I chuckled a bit before whispering back to him. "Well, my dad doesn't believe in status and wealth. He believes in actually being happy and healthy. Status and wealth shouldn't change anything about you. It's just if you are an actual nice and genuine person, he will love you. But, if you are an arrogant person, he will literally kick them out of his restaurant, tell my mom to not help them when they look for relators, they are never invited back to the house. Yeah...uh...my dad is like that. If he really doesn't like someone, he makes it known basically." I said looking up at Xavier. "But my dad likes you though! So, you don't have to worry about it at all!" I said and smiled happily.

My parents and his parents were already in the living room, getting to know each other and everything. I smiled softly as I saw my dad have a huge smile. My mom made drinks for everyone. I looked over at Xavier's dad and I saw him getting more comfortable and being nicer to my dad.

We both sat down with our families. I sat by my mom, and he sat by his dad. I smiled over to my mom and dad. My parents smiled happily at me while my mom held me close to her. My parents usually like to have me around them. I smiled as I held my mom's arm. I looked over at Xavier's family and I smiled softly at them.

"So, I heard many things about you Adnois." Xavier's mom said, smiling gently at me. My eyes widened and I looked over at him before I nodded my head at his mom. "All good things, I presume?" I said with a nervous chuckle. His mom laughed with me. "Oh, trust me darling, all he talks about are all of the good things about you!" Now it was Xavier's turn to be embarrassed. I smiled happily and laughed a bit as I saw how red Xavier's face got. He quickly covered his face while shaking his head.

Me and his mom talked, getting to know each other more, my parents even talked to his parents too. Xavier occasionally spoke up about somethings but, as classic mothers, she brought up embarrassing stories. My mother did the same thing so we both were very embarrassed about our mom's. Our dads even chimed in on our embarrassing stories.

Almost an hour of storytelling goes by and it's already dinner time. My dad quickly got up and ushered everyone into the dining room. He pulled all of the chairs out. The table was set with my dad's favourite dishes. I sat down after everyone did.

"Tonight, I made chicken and gravy! The sides are mashed potatoes and green beans. I did make other things just in case any of you were allergic to some things." My dad said, clasping his hands together. He looked at Xavier's family. His mom shook his head and his dad spoke up. "We are not allergic to anything. But thank you for telling us though!" He said with a true and genuine smile on his face.

My dad's face lit up in excitement. "Perfect!" He made everyone's plates and put them in front of each person. Me and my mom waited for him to sit down before we all started to eat. I looked up at the others to see their reaction to my dad's cooking.

"This is amazing!" Xavier's mom said, practically devouring the whole dish in one second. His dad nodded his head in agreement. I looked over at my dad to see his reaction. He had a huge smile on his face. I smiled softly before I nodded my head. "They love the food dad." I said, continuing to eat my food.

"I swear, you have to tell me this recipe!" Xavier's mom said when she finished her food. Everyone cleaned their dishes. I thanked my dad for the food and so did Xavier. My mom made extra dishes for them as the parents were now talking, getting to know each other better. Me and Xavier looked at each other. "We can go to the porch and talk more." I said to him. Xavier smiled softly and nodded his head. I lead the way to the porch. I sat down on the porch swing, patting the seat next to me. He sat down next to me.

"So, you gotta tell me about your first day at my dad's restaurant. Sorry I couldn't be there. I was scheduled to work those days at the flower shop." I said, crossing my arms.

Xavier nodded his head, fidgeting with his fingers. "Yeah! No! That's okay!" He said with a small smile at the end. "It was actually really good! Your dad did an excellent job at training me. He is a pretty good boss. He is always respectful to everyone. Granted, there were rude customers as always, but your dad helped me with them until they started to become a Karen to your dad. Let's just say that they won't be coming back to your dad's restaurant ever again." He said, rubbing the back of his neck a bit and chuckling a bit.

"Wait, there were customers being rude to my dad? Who were they? I want to know." I said in a serious tone. I hated when people were rude to my dad. My dad is the nicest person in the whole world.

"Don't worry Adnois. I handled it very well." He said, looking at me with a reassuring look.

"Well, what did you do?" I said as I was actually curious with what he did.

"I might have thrown water at their faces..." He said shyly. I couldn't help but start laughing. "Wait?! You did what?!?" I almost yelled. He nodded his head. "Yes, I really did that," he said, smiling from his actions, "and I do not regret it actually."

I nodded my head as I was actually impressed with what he did. "I wouldn't have regrated that either!" I said, holding my chest.

"I mean, the person deserved it. She was being an asshole to your dad, and I wasn't going to tolerate it so I just took a cup, filled it with water and threw it at her face. Your dad was shocked when I did that and then told the customer she wasn't allowed back." He said looking down at me. "He even thanked me for handling the rude customer too." Xavier gave me a soft smile.

I returned that smile back to him. "Well, thank you for standing up to my dad. That means a lot to me and him. I hate it when people are rude to my dad and always critique his restaurant. I hate it so much. He worked so hard to get that place and to get it to where it is at right now actually."

"Well, your dad is a good man. So, I agree. He doesn't deserve the hate. I also want to protect him from the haters." I smiled happily and giggled a bit. "Ava says the same thing too actually." I covered my cheeks as they were red.

Xavier smiled softly, seeing my face. "What! It's true!" He exclaimed. "Also, I like the outfit on you. It really suits you." He said while I looked away from him as I heard him say that. I was looking at the streetlights that illuminated the road. I looked back at him with a shy smile, like the one from the museum when he complimented my dress. "Thuh-thank you..."I stuttered out. "Your outfit at the museum was cute too actually." It was now my turn to complement him.

He blushed a bit as well, hiding his face in one of his hands. "Thank you..." He said shyly. I chuckled softly before poking his cheek. "You're red as a tomato!" I said, still poking his cheek. Xavier couldn't help but laugh from me poking his cheek. He gently moved my hand away from his cheek. "What?! I wanna poke your cheeks!" I said laughing loudly.

"I know you do but it was tickling my face." He said, smiling happily as I put my hand in my lap. "I just thought it was funny honestly." I giggled at the end. He rolled his eyes playfully when I said that. "But, anyway, how do you like Binx so far? What made your family move to this shit hole town?" I asked him.

"Well, my grandma lives here. My mom wanted to move back to her hometown, dad got a promotion but not in Binx. He works in the city, I forgot what he does. But my mom basically wanted to move back in her hometown when my dad got the promotion. But I like it here. I thought I wasn't going to like it but, you and Ava made it better honestly and I thank y'all for that." Xavier said while I nodded my head.

"Ah. I understand and you're welcome! Where did you originally come from, if you don't mind me asking?" I said, readjusting in my seat. "I am from Maine." Xavier said. I nodded my head again. "Dang, you are from the east coast?! I've never been there." I said pursing my lips in a thought.

"I mean, if you want to, you can come with my family when we go there to visit my dad's family. My parents already seem to like your parents a lot." He said, pointing to the window. I looked at the window and I saw our parents laughing and talking. I smiled softly and nodded my head. "Oh yeah, I can definitely see that." I chuckled from the interaction I was seeing between our parents.

"Yeah, they definitely like each other." I nodded my head, still looking at them. "I have a feeling we will be having almost weekly or biweekly dinners, like at your place and then at my place." Xavier said. I nodded my head as I listened to you. "Oh definitely! My parents might bring stuff to your house if we do that actually." I said looking back at him.

"Well, I won't mind it because I get to see you and hangout with you! Well, besides school and work." He chuckled at the end of his sentence. I couldn't help but laugh at what he said.

"Yeah, I actually would be so down for the biweekly dinners." And when I said that our parents walked out. We both looked up at them. Xavier smiled at his parents, and I waved to mine. "Adnois, we are going over to Xavier's place next week for dinner!" My dad said, I looked over at Xavier as my eyes widened. I looked back at my dad. "We were literally just talking about that actually. It was like you were reading our minds dad." I said, getting up from the porch swing. Xavier got up as well and put his shoes on.

Our parents laughed when they heard that from me. I hid my face in embarrassment. I shook my head as well. "Oh my gosh..." I muttered before I looked at Xavier. Xavier chuckled a bit and looked at everyone. "Well, I will see you later then." He said looking at me. I nodded my head before we all said our goodnights and goodbyes.

After they left, me and my parents went back inside. My parents looked over at me and raised their brows. "So... you wanna tell us what y'all talked about on the porch?"
