Max calmly closed his eyes briefly while sensing the enormous amount of energy flowing throughout his meridians.
That energy was extremely pure.
After devouring Ray completely, Max could clearly feel his cultivation drawing even closer toward another breakthrough.
Several moments later, the flow of energy gradually stabilized.
Only after the final traces of Ray's body turned into dust did the devouring process completely end.
A faint smile slowly appeared across Max's face afterward.
"With this," he muttered softly, "I am truly very close to reaching the tenth level of the Law Awakening Realm."
Then Max calmly turned around and walked out of the underground chamber.
Soon afterward, he arrived back outside the prison area where Jonathan and Julie were already waiting for him silently.
The moment Jonathan saw Max emerge alone, he immediately understood the outcome.
"You dealt with him?" Jonathan asked quietly.
Max nodded calmly.
"He is gone."
