Chapter 13 - Text imagination: Thoughts(1)

As the sun shines down and clouds move with haste I see a street lamp.

It is incredible technology from multiple fields that have merged into a simple stationary light source for those wandering in the dark.

How many years and how many dreams are condensed into this one creation?

Electricity, which is practically magic. Studied and understood, it eventually became a simple truth that exists everywhere on earth through an interconnected network.

The creation of light and heat, originating from the flames of life.

Glass, shaped and molded by the same flame. Within creation we are gods.

And it doesn't stop there.

Even the body, made of metal and forged through sweat and time. We molded what we couldn't destroy with our human bodies.

Finally, after connecting it to a system, it can be controlled with a computer, or perhaps just a simple switch that simultaneously turns on all street lamps.

Is there any other way? Is there a better solution?

Perhaps light that remains on the ground, showing the way while you wander through an unknown street?

Connected with your phone? It changes colour as you choose a location you want to go to?

But you're not the only person around, so maybe checkpoints should be set?

There is one issue that cannot be ignored though.

Money.

The creation itself would cost at least a few millions, perhaps even billions depending on where it would be installed.

Also, electricity costs.

Although I don't personally know where taxpayer money goes. I would assume some goes to electricity right?

I doubt this idea could go anywhere outside of specialty areas, for example parties or emergency use. (Which it already is).

There's also the problem of brightness(I cast Devine light!) and the darn near necessary features to make it worth anything.

Heat(?) to prevent snow pile up, touch sensitivity to prevent excess power usage and technology connectivity. (Which adds to the price of course).

So this one's a bust?

*SIGH…*

I sigh dramatically and adjust my glasses casually.

Glasses?

What if we change the source instead of the surroundings?

Glasses or lenses that improve our night vision?

Of course, lenses would need quite a few more years in the oven for it to even be possible, but glasses.

Smart glasses already exist, so we could simply tag on one more feature?

Isn't it already possible?

Have a camera and a screen. That camera could have night vision and the screen shows what is happening in real time.

Wait a darn second!!

Is this just the Apple vision thing?!

That looks ridiculous though?!

Perhaps this was a bad idea…

Whatever, if it gets optimized to look like normal glasses with night vision that can be turned on and off then that would be nice.

Maybe not cheap, but it's an interesting idea.

If it became widespread and cheap to produce then perhaps that would be good.

Anyway, cya.

Thought experiment: Improved street lights.

COMPLETE!
