'What the fuck is going on. One minute, I'm getting drunk and thinking about going to a party. Next thing you know, I'm getting chased by a house-sized bunny. Now I'm scaling a cliff using shadows. Did I get slipped some dmt?!'
Nathan knew this wasn't a trip from drugs. Feeling the pain he felt and how mystical everything was. Drugs couldn't make this up.
He was able to get away from the bunny because some wolves in a large pack thought they could claim ownership of the forest. He's made it halfway up the cliff using his shadow movement. He found a cave opening as it started raining, so he thought he could stay here a while to spare himself from the rain.
While finding a suitable spot to rest, he came across some one-horned rats and dealt with them. He'd figured, in a fantasy world, that even the caves would be just as dangerous as outside, but this one seemed quite peaceful. Even the rats were weary of him before he massacred them. This piqued Nathan's curiosity.
After some more digging around in the cave, he realized he could use shadow movement everywhere in the cave. So, using the dull knife and his shadow movement, he practiced a new technique that can only be used in dark places like this; he called it "ULTIMATE SHADOW DEATH TECHNIQUE."
Meanwhile…
Nail was currently sitting on a comfortable sofa at a coffee table in his white expanse. He took a sip of black coffee as he watched Nathan concoct his plan of defeating the three black-horned bunnies.
He couldn't believe something that powerful had found Nathan, or rather, that Nathan had found it. He tried to place Nathan in a place where he could learn and find a way out, but of course, Nathan had to go the one way that went deeper into the endless forest. One thing Nail had to give Nathan, though, was his plan of hunting that bunny. Even though it didn't kill it, Nathan surpassed Nail's expectations.
Another weird thing was how Nail couldn't see Nathan's status menu anymore. Even if Nathan was summoned in front of him or if Nail forcibly tried to look at it. Even the most powerful being in the world, who had learned to hide their status screens from others, wasn't able to stop Nail.
This made Nail relish in his choice this time. A lot of times, Nail chooses someone they die to the weakest mobs or tries to take on something above their pay level. Not one person he's chosen makes it out of the forest, let alone a couple of miles into it.
'Nathan is truly remarkable, but why is there so much mystery around him. Why can't I even see his talent? The system likes to play a weird trick on people, sometimes locking their traits and skills, but never their talent. Just why is Nathan getting this treatment from the system? Why does he need this much protection? What is this kid's fate in this world?
He quickly dismissed all these thoughts as Nathan approached the cave.
'Hm. Interesting choice.'
This time, Nail's hunger for entertainment will be satisfied. He's been bored for centuries, and Nathan will finally give him the story he needed.
'Nathan, I have high hopes for you, don't die on me yet.'
Finishing that thought, Nail let out a hearty laugh and continued sipping on his coffee. He was still watching Nathan as he took another sip and immediately spit it out, laughing.
"ULTIMATE SHADOW DEATH TECHNIQUE, WHAT THE FUCK TYPE OF NAME IS THAT?!? BWHAHAHAHA!! YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO SURPRISE ME!! HAHAHAHAHA!"
If only Nathan knew he was still watching…
"ULTIMATE SHADOW DEATH TECHNIQUE!"
Nathan fell into the shadows after being chased by a horde of rats, of which two had two horns instead of one. Almost immediately after falling into the shadows, Nathan used Dash after coming back out and jumping back into the shadows, killing 12 rats in one swing. He then repeatedly jumped in and out of the shadows, massacring the rats. Even the two-horned rats fell pretty quickly. Nathan was satisfied that he had perfected his new technique, further upgraded his stats, and obtained a new trait.

The rats didn't give him any stat points, but repeatedly running out of mana and even coming up with a new technique made his wisdom stat go up, which Nathan struggled to gain before.
A new sparkle was flowing in Nathan's eyes, realizing that he can grow however he wants.
He decided to rest up after training so hard. Heading back to his campfire, he realized an unusual presence, but he thought it was just rats again. As he got closer, he started preparing himself for the rats, ready to dart into the shadows. Once he got close enough, he could see what was there, but it wasn't rats. He could see some light and the silhouette of a human. Nathan immediately put up his guard, walking slowly towards the person.
The person, meanwhile, kept tending to the fire Nathan had built and watching it closely.
"Who are you!" Nathan yelled out
The person finally raised its head. It was a woman with a greyish complexion and black hair. She was beautiful to Nathan. He was stunned to speak. In the next moment, she was gone. Nathan could feel someone breathing down his neck after she disappeared. He turned around, and they were inches away from each other. Nathan stumbled back, dropping his knife.
She calmly stood there watching his horror.
"Hello there."
