As evening approached and the food street began to bustle with activity again, Jiang Xiaobai left the food street to pick up Xiaoqian, who was about to finish work.
When he arrived at the convenience store, Jiang Xiaobai didn't go in but stood outside instead. Xiaoqian had already seen him, and when it was time to finish work, she changed out of her uniform and came outside, carrying a plastic bag.
"What are you carrying in your hand?" Jiang Xiaobai asked.
Xiaoqian laughed, "It's bento that's about to expire. The store manager said that any bento that's been out for more than twenty-four hours can't be sold. These two boxes I got are both over twenty-four hours, but there's really no problem; they're all kept in the fridge."
Jiang Xiaobai said, "Throw them away, throw them away! I thought it was some treasure. Why take this stuff? Let's not be greedy over such small gains."
Xiaoqian said, "Why throw it away? It's great; we can heat it up when we get home and eat it."
