Chapter 668 - Final Chapter: Until We Meet Again

Shin opened his eyes in his bedroom, the familiar ceiling greeting him as consciousness returned from the VR world.

Three months. He'd spent three months in the Type-Moon world wrapping up loose ends, but out here, only one night had passed. The time dilation still fascinated him after all these years.

He sat up, feeling the morning sun warm on his face. Twenty years. Had it really been twenty years since this all started?

"Morning, Akawa."

Tohru stood in the doorway, already in her maid uniform, tail swishing contentedly. She didn't ask about his dreams anymore—she'd learned long ago he needed space when he returned.

"Morning," he replied, stretching. His body felt different somehow. Not stronger—he'd long since hit absurd power levels—but... settled. Like he'd finally grown into himself.

Downstairs, the usual chaos awaited. Elma and Gabriel were already bickering over breakfast portions. Mordred was arm-wrestling Chloe at the table. Kanna sat quietly eating her third helping. Reines was reading a book with one hand while eating with the other, somehow managing to look elegant doing it.

"Took you long enough," Mordred called out. "Thought you'd sleep all day."

"Some of us need rest," Shin shot back, taking his seat.

The easy banter flowed around him. This life he'd built—piece by piece, person by person—it felt real in a way the VR worlds never quite did. Those were adventures, challenges, stories he lived through. But this? This was home.

After breakfast, he found himself wandering to his study. The room was quiet, private. He pulled up the VR interface only he could see.

Finally. After years of "generating," both quests had appeared simultaneously.

JoJo's world promised new Stand abilities, perhaps even evolution beyond Requiem. The Dragon Ball quest hinted at something involving multiple timelines converging—probably Zeno's doing, knowing that multiverse.

Shin leaned back in his chair, a slight smile on his face.

He'd go. Of course he'd go. That restless part of him that always wanted to see what was beyond the next horizon hadn't died just because he'd gotten older. If anything, maturity had sharpened it—he knew himself well enough now to acknowledge that need for challenge.

But not today. Maybe not even this month.

There was an art to anticipation. He'd learned that over the years. The quests would wait. They always did.

"Shin?"

Yukino appeared in the doorway, her expression carefully neutral—though he'd learned to read the softness underneath. "Bocchi called. She wants to know if you're free to help with evil spirit extermination this weekend. Apparently there's been an increase near the shopping district."

"Tell her I'm available."

After Yukino left, Shin returned his attention to the glowing quest notifications. JoJo's world. Dragon Ball's multiverse. Each promised battles that would push even his limits.

Good. He'd been getting complacent.

But there was no rush. The boy who'd thrown himself recklessly into every challenge was gone. In his place stood someone who understood that strength wasn't just about the next fight—it was about knowing when to fight and when to simply live.

"Akawa!" Tohru's voice carried from downstairs. "Stop brooding and come help! Elma's trying to reorganize the kitchen again and it's a disaster!"

"I heard that!" Elma's indignant shout followed.

Shin closed the interface with a thought. The quests disappeared from view, waiting patiently in the background.

He stood, rolling his shoulders. There would be time for gods and Stands and whatever ridiculous tournament Zeno had cooked up. Time to push his limits, to see new worlds, to chase that familiar thrill of the unknown.

But right now, his family needed him to referee a kitchen argument.

He headed downstairs, where Gabriel was filming the chaos on her phone, Mordred was placing bets with Chloe, and Kanna had wisely retreated to the living room. Reines caught his eye and raised her cup in a silent toast, amusement dancing in her expression.

This was his life now—equal parts domestic comedy and cosmic power. Somehow, he'd managed to balance both.

As Shin waded into the kitchen dispute, gently separating two arguing dragons with the kind of patience that came from years of practice, he felt something he rarely acknowledged.

Contentment.

Not the restless satisfaction of a battle won or a world conquered. Something deeper. Quieter. The knowledge that he'd built something worth returning to, no matter how far his adventures took him.

The VR system hummed in the back of his consciousness, barely perceptible now after decades of integration. Two new quests waiting. Infinite possibilities stretching ahead.

He'd answer them when he was ready. When he'd had his fill of quiet mornings and chaotic breakfasts, of helping friends with spirit problems and managing his impossible household.

Until then?

He was exactly where he wanted to be.

"Alright, alright," he said, stepping between Tohru and Elma. "Here's what we're going to do..."

Outside, the morning sun climbed higher. Somewhere across countless worlds, adventures awaited. New challenges. New stories.

They would keep. They always did.

And when the time came—when that old familiar hunger grew too strong to ignore—he'd dive back in. Push himself further. See what lay beyond even his current impossible strength.

But not today.

Today, he had a kitchen to save, a family to love, and a life worth living.

Everything else could wait.

The greatest adventure isn't always the next one waiting. Sometimes, it's learning to appreciate the one you're already living.
