Then, raising the Ferrum Ignis toward the sky, he unleashed a surge of vibrant blue flames that shot upward like an umbrella unfolding.
The fiery canopy quickly expanded in all directions, encasing hundreds of meters of space around them in a blazing blue bowl.
Both the Pure Land Society members and Seth's group were left speechless by this incredible display.
"No, this blue Fiendfyre can block Apparition too!" someone gasped, realizing just how trapped they were.
Seth had just lifted his anti-Apparition spell blockade, but when he tried to Apparate himself, he still couldn't. It meant the area was still sealed.
"But look, Master! After he blocked us with that blue Fiendfyre, the Ferrum Ignis in his hand has disappeared. Doesn't that mean he can't use the blue Fiendfyre to attack and defend at the same time?" a sharp-eyed wizard from the Pure Land Society pointed at Thunderbird's wand and called out.
Everyone heard and saw that it was true. The Ferrum Ignis Thunderbird had formed had vanished, leaving only his snow-white aspen wood wand.
"Heh, so you see I can't keep using Fiendfyre? Think you can take me..."
"On again now?" Thunderbird sneered, knowing the Pure Land wizard had noticed his limitation.
"Well, let me show you what real power looks like!"
With that, Thunderbird swung his wand smoothly, creating an afterimage in front of him.
Suddenly, seven or eight spells appeared and shot toward the Pure Land Society members.
"Don't panic, everyone! He's just using the common 'obstacle' spell. Spread out and surround him!" Seth shouted, realizing that Thunderbird's ability to cast multiple spells at once made him dangerous, but wanting to keep morale steady.
The group of well-trained Pure Land wizards reacted quickly.
As soon as Thunderbird's curses flew out, they spread to both sides, with some taking the chance to fire a few curses back.
But then something surprising happened.
The seven or eight 'obstacle' spells formed a cluster and, as if guided by automatic navigation, changed direction and flew straight at their individual targets.
"Besides casting multiple spells, did he also use a 'guidance and tracking' skill? How strong is this guy's magical sensitivity?" Seth muttered in surprise.
It was the first time he'd seen someone guide so many spells simultaneously.
"No matter how fancy your spellcasting is, it's still just ordinary 'obstacle' spells. Iron Armor!" Seth yelled, determined to counter Thunderbird's attack.
Seth was impressed by Thunderbird's fighting skills, but he didn't let the opponent's spell catch him off guard.
He quickly cast an iron armor spell to block the attack.
When the cannonball created by Thunderbird's Obstacle Curse slammed into Seth's armor, there was a loud boom.
Seth was shocked to see his iron armor barrier nearly shattered by the impact.
Until that moment, he hadn't realized just how powerful this seemingly ordinary spell really was.
The strength of the Obstacle Curse almost matched his own thunderbolt and exploded with intense force.
'This isn't good.'
Seth realized that maintaining such a spell would drain a lot of energy, not just for him, but for others as well.
Most of the other Pure Land Wizards didn't take Thunderbird's Obstacle Curse seriously.
They simply cast iron armor spells to strengthen their defenses, but this approach quickly backfired.
When Thunderbird's obstacle spell hit one wizard's magic armor, it exploded violently.
The initial blast was followed by a secondary explosion as the spell's energy expanded, causing even more damage.
The wizard's iron armor was pierced on the first hit, and the second blast sent him flying, coughing up blood.
But the attack wasn't over yet.
While airborne, the wizard suddenly found himself frozen in place; someone had cast a floating spell to control him remotely.
Realizing this, the wizard immediately tried to muster his magic to break free.
Normally, control spells like the floating spell lose power over distance, and the victim can usually escape by struggling and using their magic.
Such spells aren't very effective in serious battles unless there's a huge difference in strength, and they're mostly used to bully weaker opponents, like children.
But in this fight, that control magic had a much more dangerous effect.
As soon as the wizard realized what was happening, he desperately wanted to break free from the control.
But after the heavy blow he had just taken, his ability to focus and channel magic was completely off balance.
He couldn't summon enough power quickly enough.
Before he could even think of a way to counterattack, an overwhelming force pressed down on him from all directions, like a giant hand squeezing him tightly.
It was the magic of the 'control system' again.
'Damn it! Just give me a few more seconds to gather my magic...'
"What?!"
The force was too strong to resist with his body alone.
Regret didn't even have time to set in before the pressure crushed him completely, and with a sharp, unnatural scream, he was reduced to nothing but a puddle of flesh.
"First!"
The terrifying Thunderbird withdrew his clenched left hand, completely unaffected by the wizard's gruesome fate.
Instead, he turned his gaze to another wizard who had just been unbalanced by the Obstacle Curse.
"Next, you!"
Thunderbird raised his wand with precision.
The unsteady wizard was suddenly lifted high into the air by the Levitation Curse.
With a flick of his wand, Thunderbird sent him flying to the side, crashing into two other wizards walking nearby.
Not wasting a moment, Thunderbird flicked his wand upward again, lifting all three into the air together.
Then, with a sharp downward motion, he sent them plummeting from more than ten meters high.
At that moment, jagged stone spikes suddenly erupted from the ground, sharp and unforgiving.
"Ugh!"
The three wizards screamed as they were impaled by the stones, their bodies pierced in multiple places.
It was clear none of them would survive.
"Next, you!"
Thunderbird was like a ruthless killing machine now, mercilessly casting spells on the Pure Land Society's wizards.
He used simple but deadly curses like Obstacle to break their defenses, then seized control over them with his magic, keeping them completely under his power.
Right after that, a series of brutal killings unfolded.
Some were crushed to death, others were thrown high into the air and then smashed against jagged stone edges formed by transformation magic.
Some were torn apart by massive fists and huge palms.
Those with flesh were not spared, even those who used control spells to pull enemies forward were met with a physical strike: a long sword, magically transformed from a wand, pierced straight through heads.
The scene was incredibly bloody and horrifying.
The wizards from the Pure Land Society felt a deep sense of despair, while those watching from a distance in the club felt their stomachs churn, many even vomited on the spot.
