It was nothing really at first; it was just me and my book and the vast universe waiting to be discovered, and then I died...
Shocking I know
Well, not really; I was just one of many people living in a world where one needs to meet the expectations of many
For one, my father was a teacher; well, my father in the past was, and so was his father and his father and his father, generational heredity I say
And for my mother, she was a stay-at-home mom; love her really, she provided me with everything I could ever hope for
Can't say the same for six siblings, my sisters and brothers; they really get on my nerves
Welp, can't say I fulfilled their expectations as I died not as a teacher but a short-time creator... a fan fic creator, honestly quite embarrassing, asking people with money for content that I quite stole... well, stole is a really strong word; I may say borrowed, hahaha
Talking to myself really helps, at least making sure I don't go crazy floating in space in the middle of nowhere
Like, how am I still alive? There is no air here, no oxygen and really nothing to stand on, no up and definitely no down, just twirling and twirling and twirling away in a direction I can't comprehend
Am I descending on something? Being pulled somewhere? At least make me FEEL SOMETHING
No...no, no, don't think about anything crazy right now. How did I die anyway?
The only thing I remember was chatting about and rage-baiting someone about BS things: Warhammer 40k this and Starcraft that and Warcraft pussify this and that and then a bright light and poof
Here I am in the middle of nowhere in space, floating, defying physics and the laws of thermodynamics along with how space is supposed to work.... hold on, what's that?
A... computer?
Definitely not weird, really not weird...
Adjusting his body, he slowly collided with a computer that weirdly remained firmly in place; not even a tug on the table moved it...
Yep, definitely normal. You know what, I would have told myself I'm dreaming all of this, IF IT WERN'T FOR A FACT THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIFFITNG IN THIS PLACE FOR I DON'T KNOW YEARS
Laughing to himself, he picked up the mouse on the table and turned on the screen. On that screen was a single application on the desktop, not even a toolbar on the bottom, quite the indigent piece of... You know what I am thankful
Opening the app, it directed itself into a CYOA-like web page online
FUCK IS THIS, FUCK ARE YOU, FUCKIN HELL
It pre-selected a universe of WARHAMMER 40K
FUCK YOU, he screamed to himself as he almost punched the screen before pausing himself
Tsk, only a 1000 points fucking hell man... sighing, he stopped. Not pressing anything and reading the CYOA before choosing; after all, what if it is a touch-and-go type shit and I can't take it back, and so I choose to read the fine print after all making a deal with the devil you must at least read the deal before signing your life away
At least I can choose where I will be located, in that damned universe. Fine, then let's choose at the edge of Ultima Segmentum near the Lithesh Sector near the Tau Empire. I mean, I thought about being near the realm of Ultramar too, but that would be too damn near the centre of the fighting, and I can't choose the timeline of when I would be dropped in; maybe it's in the Dark Age, maybe it's the Age of Apostophy, or after the fall of Cadia, I don't know! or its after the resurection of Gilliman the OG blue berry
Yes, I'll be on the sphere of the Waaagh! Snagrod the Ork Empire of Charadon, and yes, it is at the edge of the Akannazad Dynasty, a Necron territory, and yes, I am within the way of the Hive Fleet Naga and Hive Fleet Kronos, a little influence from Chaos, or at least I hope so, and it's near Forge Worlds, Agri Worlds, Frontier Worlds and Fortress worlds and if push comes to shove I can just defect betray my humanity and just ally myself with the Tau
Argghhh! Fuckin hell man!! Why can't anywhere in this universe be safe!? Why in this universe of all places!!! Why can't it be HALO or Star Wars or, or I don't know RWBY?! GANDAM!
TSK!
Snapping at himself, he sighed before going back to the selection screen
Let's see... How I arrive in the universe, [ Self-insert, transmigration, Reincarnation, Drop-in ]... chu chu
Part I: [Index] bla... bla... bla... [Appearance], [Affiliation] anyways
[Body]
...
Why is it locked in a 'Human' gene pool? Why can't I pick alien? Why can't it be Tau? or at least Ork? Why can't it be Ork! LET ME BE ORK!!! LET ME HAVE A WHAAAGGG!!! Or let me be an OVERMIND of a hivemind like the Tyranids
And if you lock me at 'Human ', at least let me choose the option to have either a psyker gene, a blank gene or at least make me Transhuman like those Astartes or Costodes
I want to cry... at least it has [Hybrid] option... okay let's do this, enhanced human body, until... yep that'd do the new me should have about John Walker Capt America a.ka U.S. Agent level physic, and yes it's the Marvel movie version not the comics... I wish it would at least be a comic version, but noooo, I just had to be weak
If I won't be attacked by Astartes or Astartes-level and higher, or overwhelmed really, I would survive, and with that I only have 987 points
Sigh moving on
Part II [Items]...
...
...
Fuck
Fuck
Fuck
Everything that's useful is either too expensive or has a horrendous drawback, like [favorability of the former user of the weapon -80%]. What the fuck are you on about? [Named weapon] It's not like I would steal it from them, and anything cheap is either useless or can't even give me protection, like the lasgun flashlight costs 1 point; it's not like 987 of those can save me... The Kasrkin armour looks nice, though not gonna lie cost about 3 points per armour
And, what do you mean by Tesseract Labyrinths cost 600 points, and you give me only 1000 points to use GAAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDD!!!
Scrolling down frivolously, he found the [Universal Item] Tab
Clicking on it, expecting another useless tab until...
Interesting... verrry interesting, hmmmmmm.... let's see
Nope...
Nah,
Yeah, no, not this either
Sigh, tempting, but nope
Tsk... too expensive
Too, usless
No
Nein
Tsk.... too many alien-based technologies that are either too useless or make me too conspicuous to the Imperium or any factions that see me
Others are too fantasy, and I'm not a fantasy type guy... I know, I know Elder Scrolls gooo BRRRRRRR, you can have yours, and I'll have mine, but those are expensive too; a single spell would cost me 280 points, and that doesn't yet count the question of whether I can cast it without a body from that universe and if I can cast it, what if chaos corruption takes over me while casting magic... IMAGIN
Can't pick techs that don't look human-made either... not much to go through now... sigh, if only I could choose what kind of species I could be, that would have made it easier
List which I could choose from [Stormgate; Vanguard]; [Homeworld; Hiigaran]; [Sins of a Solar Empire; TEC] and lastly [StarCraft; Terran]
These are the closest I could find that would blend within the Imperium or at least make them gaze and look the other way. I also thought of using [Stellaris] [Star Wars tech], [Stargate tech], or at least [Star Troopers Tech] and [Halo Tech], but again it's either too expensive or too useless or too conspicuous
Then again, [Sins of a Solar Empire; TEC] is also too much, but the 'loyalist' tech is a hunker and bunker down, but there's also the fact that the materials used within that universe I can't use in the Warhammer 40k universe
Yeah, let's take that out... [Homeworld] As much as I love the ships, it's too weak against Warhammer, especially against Necrons and Aldari and the production time
So it's between [StarCraft; Terran] and [Stormgate; Vanguard]
Ghhhhnnnn... Kill me, just kill me FUCK YOU, UNIVERSE
Reluctantly, I picked [StarCraft; Terran]
Opening the tab, I was greeted with various lists from the [Vanilla] to the [Modded]
Opening both tabs, I was given a choice to pick only a single strain faction and after deliberate choosing of which faction's pros and cons
I inevitably chose the Umojan faction tech tree, for their use of energy shields, unlike standard Terran tech and that takes about 700 points
It seems that the system recognises [Unit item] and [Personal Item] as the same
With only 287 left to go and still not yet half of the whole website, I was almost tempted to retract my choices
But then the [Drawback] Option arrived my eyes widened due to the amount of sheer number it gave me... with this I could even go back and choose parts that could give me secret weapons
Picking up disadvantages for me and myself I wonder how this would affect me as a person
Would it play out as a background of my character, or would it change me inside out... Well only one way to find out
As he was checking drawbacks here and there, reading its gease, then I stumbled upon something that caught my eye
[You aren't the only one]
Description: Open your universe to other travellers and let them... *bla bla bla
Gain 1000 points per traveller ticket ( + - =0)
Not reading the rest of the description, his eyes landed on the points and rapidly clicked the + icon
Greed overcame him with his crazy eyes as he laugh out loudly
[A/N: If only he had read the description]
"Who's there?!" He snapped and jerked his head left and right
"I could have sworn I heard somebody"
[A/N: ...]
TSK...
He then closed the tab after hitting [Finished], followed by a bright light; he disappeared into the abyss
[A/N: That was close, *phew almost got caught there... You better do what you promised me, Tzeentch]
[A/N; Echoes of laughter resounded accross the room]
[A/N: FUCK YOU TOO]
