Three hours later, it was noon.
Seimei, feeling a bit worn out, paused his efforts.
Sure, he had enough chakra to pour into his eyes to trigger the awakening of the Rinnegan.
But channeling such a massive amount of chakra through his pathways in such a short time? Yeah, that was starting to take a toll.
Even with his "Physical" stat at 40, having undergone a qualitative transformation, it wasn't enough to shrug it off.
For now, he needed a quick break to let his body recover before pushing forward.
Taking the chance, Seimei pulled up his proficiency panel.
The screen showed that his Rinnegan awakening progress had already hit (8/100).
Doing the math, he was pouring in about 100 million points of chakra every half hour, inching the progress up by one percent.
At this rate, if he took six hours to rest each day, he'd fully awaken the Rinnegan in just under three days.
"Phew, not bad," Seimei said, satisfied with the timeline.
Three days? He could handle that.
With that thought, he closed the panel, shut his eyes, and settled in to rest.
---
Half an hour later, Seimei's eyes snapped open.
He summoned a Wood Clone, had it dispel itself, and funneled the massive wave of returning chakra straight into his eyes.
His eyes, as always, acted like twin black holes, swallowing every bit of chakra without so much as a flicker.
If it weren't for the panel clearly showing the Rinnegan's awakening progress ticking up, he might've doubted himself, just like anyone else would.
Luckily, that wasn't an issue.
Pushing stray thoughts aside, Seimei focused, diving back into absorbing and channeling chakra with full concentration.
Just like that, two days flew by.
And then, the third day arrived.
That night, under the moonlight, Seimei sat cross-legged, still pulling chakra from his Wood Clones and pouring it into his eyes.
Suddenly, his body shuddered.
In the next instant, an overwhelming surge of mental pressure erupted from him—or more precisely, from his eyes.
In a flash, the surrounding grass and trees were shredded, as if caught in an invisible storm.
Not just the plants—even the dirt and stones on the ground seemed pulled by some unseen force, slowly floating into the air.
Then, along with the tattered remains of the vegetation, they began to swirl around Seimei.
"Success!" he whispered.
And just like that, his eyes had transformed into the Rinnegan.
In his memory, the Rinnegan came in four colors: red, blue, purple, and yellow.
The Ōtsutsuki clan's main branch typically had yellow—or golden—Rinnegan. Even if it wasn't golden at first, it could evolve into that color by consuming a chakra fruit.
Take Ōtsutsuki Momoshiki, for example. After consuming the chakra fruit made from Ōtsutsuki Kinshiki, his red Rinnegan turned golden.
Some Ōtsutsuki, though, had blue Rinnegan, which were generally considered more powerful.
On the other hand, branch family members like Ōtsutsuki Kaguya usually had red Rinnegan, with relatively average abilities.
The weakest were the purple Rinnegan, passed down through the bloodline of Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo in the ninja world.
By all accounts, Seimei, inhabiting a body from the Uchiha clan—a descendant of Hagoromo's bloodline—should've awakened a purple Rinnegan.
But he didn't.
His Rinnegan wasn't even one of the four known colors. Instead, it was a never-before-seen silver.
Seimei couldn't help but wonder if this had something to do with his panel.
After all, when he'd pushed to awaken his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, he'd relied entirely on the proficiency panel, bypassing the usual need to transplant a close relative's eyes.
And now, for the Rinnegan, he'd done the same—leaned on the panel.
So, getting a unique result? Surprising, sure, but not entirely unexpected.
The color didn't really matter, though. What mattered was the Rinnegan's power.
As everyone knew, awakening the Rinnegan granted the user mastery over all seven chakra natures: Fire, Earth, Wind, Lightning, Water, Yin, and Yang.
But Seimei had already mastered those, so it was just a nice bonus.
Beyond that, the Rinnegan came with a few core abilities.
First was its extraordinary perception.
With the Rinnegan active, a ninja could see all chakra flows, letting them see through techniques like clone jutsu or invisibility jutsu.
They could also analyze a target's jutsu or abilities by observing their chakra, though that wasn't always super useful.
After all, anyone with a Rinnegan wasn't likely to be fazed by standard jutsu. And higher-level techniques or seals? Even if you saw them, countering them quickly was tough.
So, kind of a mixed bag.
That was the first ability.
The second was immunity to genjutsu.
A Rinnegan user was immune to any genjutsu below the Rinnegan's level.
Seimei figured that even if he stood in front of Uchiha Shisui and let him cast Kotoamatsukami—the so-called strongest genjutsu—it probably wouldn't faze him.
That ability was actually pretty handy.
The third was the ability to control summoned beasts.
This relied on the Rinnegan's powerful genjutsu, letting the user instantly dominate a summoned creature's mind and control it freely.
And then there was the fourth: gravity manipulation.
Unfortunately, Seimei already had that from his Byakugan, so it wasn't a big deal.
Well, not entirely useless.
Compared to the Byakugan's rough gravity control, the Rinnegan's was far more precise.
For example, before his Byakugan evolved into the Tenseigan, Seimei knew how Chibaku Tensei worked in theory but couldn't replicate it.
Now, with a bit of effort, he could pull it off using the Rinnegan.
But that was a problem for later.
Right now, he was more focused on his current state.
Beyond those core abilities, every Rinnegan user got a unique ability of their own.
Take Uchiha Madara's Limbo: Border Jail. It let him summon one to four shadow clones that were immune to physical attacks, could attack and defend, and were nearly impossible to detect with normal means.
Or Uchiha Sasuke's Amenotejikara. It allowed him to swap places with anything—or anyone—in his line of sight, no matter the distance. It could even be an entire space.
Some joked it was just a glorified Body Replacement Technique, but instantly swapping places across any distance? That was a game-changer, especially in team battles.
One thing to note: Nagato's Six Paths techniques weren't his unique ability. His Rinnegan wasn't even his own, so he didn't have a personal ability. The Six Paths were just powerful jutsu he developed using the Rinnegan.
Given enough time, Seimei could probably do the same, but there wasn't much point.
At the level of fighting with a Rinnegan, things got simpler. Enhanced taijutsu, paired with the Rinnegan's raw power, was usually enough to decide a battle.
And as for Seimei's Rinnegan? It came with its own unique ability, which he called Time Control.
