"I'm home!"
As evening fell, George returned to the place that served as his home in this world. He had already made plans with Gohan to visit his house this coming weekend to learn the fundamentals of "Ki."
"Evil Demon King, prepare to face the judgment of a messenger of justice! Meow-Meow Hammer Attack!"
The moment he pushed the door open, a small figure in a pink dress came charging toward him on short legs. She brandished an inflatable toy hammer, leaped into the air, and landed a direct hit right on George's knee.
"Hahaha! Super Tickle Attack!"
George laughed, scooping the little girl up and starting to tickle her. She immediately dissolved into a fit of giggles.
"Alright now, stop fooling around. It's almost time to wash your hands for dinner."
A woman in her late thirties, who carried herself with a well-maintained grace, stepped out of the kitchen carrying a plate of golden-brown fried pork chops. This was Emma, the mother of the body George now inhabited, and the little girl with the toy hammer was his younger sister, Alice.
As for his father, he had passed away in a tragic car accident five years ago. That event was a primary reason for the original George's cowardly and reclusive personality; the loss had been a massive blow, leaving him only slightly more animated when he was safely within the walls of his home.
Setting his sister down in her chair at the dining table, George stepped forward to help carry the rest of the dishes. Since he had taken over the original owner's destiny and was using this body and identity to live in this world, he felt a natural obligation to fulfill these duties. This was a personal principle of his: for every person whose body he occupied, he ensured their family received some form of recompense—at the very least, a life of comfort and wealth.
"How was school today?" Emma asked, placing a pork chop on George's plate.
Since her husband's death, she had been deeply worried about George's drastic change in personality and his tendency to remain silent. She kept a close eye on his school life, constantly fearing he might be getting bullied.
"It was great. I made a new friend named Son Gohan. He's a new student this semester, and he even invited me to his house this weekend." George smiled as he shared some lighthearted anecdotes from school.
"Son Gohan... that's a strange name," Emma remarked. She found the name unusual, but she was genuinely happy. She knew her son didn't have many friends, so seeing him bond with someone—especially a student with such excellent grades—was a relief. "You should invite him over next time. I'll prepare a big feast."
"Yeah, definitely," George nodded. He noticed Alice trying to sneak the green vegetables from her bowl back onto the serving platter while they were talking. He immediately reached out and piled an even larger serving of greens into her bowl.
"A messenger of justice needs to eat her vegetables to get those vitamins and grow tall," he teased.
"You evil Demon King! How dare you try to poison me!" Alice squawked, trying to shove the greens back, but Emma's hand firmly stayed her arm.
"No, Alice. You haven't been eating enough vegetables lately. You can't be such a picky eater."
"Hmph. You adults only buy the food you like, of course you aren't picky," Alice muttered under her breath. Despite her grumbling, she yielded to her mother's authority and dutifully ate the greens, though she shot George several resentful glares throughout the meal.
"Here, this is for you. Videl's autograph."
Once Alice finished her meal, George pulled a signed photo from his backpack. Alice's eyes went wide, and she practically jumped out of her seat.
"George, you're the best!"
Alice idolized Videl, the crime-fighting daughter of Mr. Satan. Knowing her brother was in the same class as her hero, she had begged him for an autograph for ages, but the original George had always been too timid to ask.
The original George was so plagued by low self-esteem that he never would have dared to approach a girl as radiant as Videl; he was terrified people would think he was a "toad lusting after swan meat." But the current George didn't care about such things. He had simply approached Videl after class, told her his sister was a fan, and asked for a signature. Videl had been delighted to learn a classmate's sister looked up to her; she even borrowed a camera from a student to take a fresh photo and signed it on the spot.
Sometimes, the things that seem impossibly difficult are actually quite simple if you just ask.
"Say goodbye to the world, George!" Alice yelled, pouncing on him playfully after he tried to sneak one last piece of broccoli onto her plate.
Emma watched her two children playing and laughing, a tender smile touching her lips. She noticed George seemed different today—more open, more cheerful. Perhaps the new friendship was exactly what he needed.
The next morning, after breakfast, Emma drove off to work while George headed to school, stopping to drop Alice off at kindergarten first.
After the father's death, the family had received a significant insurance settlement, but Emma chose to keep working as a researcher at the Satan City branch of the Capsule Corporation to ensure the children's future education was secure. The family lived a comfortable, middle-class life.
After dropping his half-asleep sister at the kindergarten, George didn't walk to school. Instead, he simply teleported directly onto the roof of Orange Star High School. Just as he was about to head down to class, he spotted a figure approaching from the distance wearing a strange helmet, a green tunic, and a red cape. It was Gohan.
So, he had Bulma make the costume already? George thought.
He remembered that Gohan, worried about being recognized while doing hero work, had asked Bulma to create a high-tech transformation watch to hide his identity. The outfit provided no actual combat or defensive boosts—it was purely for show and concealment.
"Good morning, Gohan. That's a sharp outfit," George called out as Gohan landed and deactivated the suit.
Gohan jumped slightly, startled, but relaxed when he saw it was just George.
"I think so too! With this, I don't have to worry about people finding out who I am. I even came up with a name: The Great Saiyaman! What do you think?"
"It's... a very unique name," George said, giving a polite thumbs-up.
"I even designed an entrance pose!" Encouraged by George's apparent "appreciation," Gohan launched into a flamboyant routine. "I am the bane of all evil, the messenger of justice! I am... THE GREAT SAIYAMAN!"
"My sister would definitely love you. You two are on the same wavelength," George said, his lip twitching slightly. Seeing the Ginyu Force-inspired posing in real life was far more impactful—and cringe-inducing—than seeing it in an anime.
"Well? How was it?" Gohan asked expectantly.
George smiled and turned toward the stairs. "Class is about to start. Let's hurry so we aren't late."
He suspected Gohan's eccentric taste was a direct result of being traumatized or influenced by the Ginyu Force back on Namek as a child.
Throughout the morning, George appeared to be a diligent student. In reality, he was secretly absorbing ambient energy to condense "Beyonder characteristics" and temper his physical body. By midday, he had successfully integrated the characteristics of the Twilight Giant pathway, reaching the level of a Sequence 9: Warrior. Given another two days to adapt, he could advance to Sequence 8: Pugilist.
Having consumed the entire world of Lord of the Mysteries, George possessed all its power systems and authorities. However, this body was merely a vessel inhabited by a fragment of his true spirit, so he had to undergo a process of adaptation. He didn't need potions, nor did he fear losing control or his body turning into a literal giant; he just needed time to convert energy and climb from Sequence 9 to Sequence 0.
He didn't necessarily care about the specific abilities of the Giant pathway—since he could technically use any authority—but the Twilight Giant path provided the most robust physical foundation. A powerful body would make it easier to research the "Ki" of this world while providing a baseline of self-defense.
In the afternoon, shortly after class began, Videl received word from the police about a bus hijacking. She immediately rushed out, boarding her helicopter to provide support. Gohan followed shortly after, using the excuse of a bathroom break. George didn't interfere. He remained in class, quietly strengthening his sequence. He had no desire to play superhero, even if his original self came from a world full of them.
The next day, George teleported to the roof again, but didn't run into Gohan. When he reached the classroom, he saw Gohan walk in looking absolutely panicked. George had a feeling he knew why.
"George, this is bad," Gohan whispered, scratching his head as he approached. "I think Angela saw me transforming on the balcony."
"Maybe not. You should go confirm it first," George replied with a smile.
He remembered this "secret" was actually a misunderstanding. Gohan thought she saw him as Saiyaman, but in reality, Angela was extremely nearsighted and hadn't been wearing her glasses; she hadn't seen a thing.
Gohan took the advice and went to talk to Angela. A while later, he returned to George looking apologetic.
"George, I'm so sorry. I can't teach you about Ki this Saturday. It'll have to be Sunday. Angela knows my 'secret' and she's making me go on a date with her on Saturday."
"No worries, I'm in no rush," George said.
He considered telling Gohan that Angela's actual "secret" was just seeing Gohan's bear-patterned underwear while he was changing, but he decided against it. There was going to be a fire in the city center on Saturday; if Gohan didn't show up to help, Videl might actually lose her life. Besides, a couple of days wouldn't hurt. It gave him more time to raise his sequence level and prepare his body to handle Ki.
By Sunday, George had reached Sequence 7: Weapon Master. His physical attributes were now several times stronger than a normal human's, and by using "Unlocking Curses" to further release his genetic locks, his strength had surged even higher.
After saying goodbye to Emma in the morning, he set off for Mount Paozu. Since the original George had never been there, he couldn't teleport directly, so he chose to fly. While he didn't know the "Sky Dance" technique (Bukujutsu) yet, his flight magic was just as fast.
"What a strange world," George mused as he flew over the wilderness, watching a wild dinosaur stomp through the trees below.
Although this was Earth, the world of Dragon Ball was vastly different from a standard one. The cities were hyper-advanced with "black technology" that rivaled alien civilizations, yet they hadn't even mastered space travel on their own—Goku's trip to Namek had relied on modified alien tech. Most people on Earth didn't even know aliens existed.
Outside the high-tech hubs, the world was primal. Many villages looked like they belonged in the Middle Ages. Dinosaurs and lethal monsters roamed the wilds. Even the human population wasn't strictly human; animal-people were common, and the world's leader was a literal talking dog.
Half an hour later, George arrived at Mount Paozu, landing near the village where Gohan lived.
"Showing up empty-handed wouldn't be right."
George flipped his hand and whispered a brief incantation: "Flavido!"
In an instant, several beautifully wrapped gift boxes appeared in his hands. Since there was no "Creator" in this universe to stop him, he could use magic from other worlds without consequence. Magic and superpowers weren't unheard of here anyway—General Blue had telekinesis, and there were sorcerers like Babidi. While most fighters used "Ki" for raw destruction, magic offered more utility.
Even if the gods of this world saw him using magic, they likely wouldn't find it that unusual.
