A good portion of Hu Immortal Blessed Land was under development and received heavy investment by Spirit Affinity House. This blessed land belonged to Feng Jin Huang, but she was part of one of the ten great ancient sects. Rules dictated that a disciple must contribute their gains to the sect. Such rules would be ruthlessly applied onto every disciple and elder. After all, a sect was an organization, the source of strength and fortune for everyone it housed. As an entity, a sect did not do all that for free. However, Feng Jin Huang was Feng Jiu Ge's daughter.
Rank 8 gu immortals rarely showed themselves. Most crucial regions and sect's reputation was maintained by peerless rank 7 gu immortals. In Central Continent, among all the rank 7 gu immortals, Feng Jiu Ge was the strongest!
Not only could he defeat his peers in a few moves, but he was also astute and cunning. Else, he would have long fallen to wisdom path gu immortals like Xu Hao.
The sect did not force Feng Jin Huang to hand over the controlling rights of the blessed land to her superiors and did not move Dang Hun Mountain to their public blessed land under the safety of First Supreme Elder. First, it was to consider Feng Jiu Ge's feelings.
Second, in a way, all this already belonged to the sect.
Feng Jiu Ge was resourceful and a holy ground like Dang Hun Mountain did not blind him with greed. Instead, he supported his daughter's claim while ensuring Feng Jin Huang did not suddenly get obsessed with her achievements and deny Spirit Affinity House from making use of Dang Hun Mountain.
This allowed every outstanding disciple to taste the benefits of Dang Hun Mountain. Meanwhile, such traffic of disciples and elders allowed Feng Jiu Ge to righteously divert some of the sect's resources to Hu Immortal Blessed Land and develop it.
The influx of disciples gave Feng Jin Huang a great opportunity to create several missions and reward the disciples with Guts Gu.
It had to be remembered, not all gutstones inside Dang Hun Mountain contained Guts Gu. Only Little Hu Immortal could accurately pinpoint the locations of these outstanding mortal gu worms. So, Feng Jin Huang's method of rewards involved applying Little Hu Immortal's omniscience within the blessed land and preventing other disciples from wasting their time inside Dang Hun Mountain.
By now, a small ring of civilization grew around Dang Hun Mountain, nearly fifteen kilometers in radius from the mountain. This ring-like city was filled with residences, exchange halls, and even a disciplinary hall to maintain order and peace.
Similarly, there were several battle stages in this city.
Dang Hun City, Battle Stage A.
The Desolate Formation Field.
*Whoosh*
*Whoosh*
*Whoosh*
*Whoosh*
Gusts of wind blew in the squarish battle stage, roughly 6000 square meters spacious. It did not have any elevated platform and was layered with dark ground. Countless tall hills made of sturdy rocks formed a grand formation in this space, acting like a maze. Around the formation were several flickering barriers. And beyond this barrier was an encircling viewing platform as several disciples sat on the step-like seats. There were barely any men. The stadium was filled with cheering women.
It was a grand sight.
Most of these disciples were cream of the crop, extremely talented and often sent outside the public blessed land or the city built around Deep Mirror Valley to harvest resources under the management of several supreme elders. Now, many disciples were appointed here, often employed by Feng Jin Huang to steadily develop her blessed land.
Their gazes were locked onto two figures separated by the desolate formation. They stood on different peaks.
"Look at him! That's Gu Yue Lo Jik!" Some women screamed with extremely fanatic expressions. Their gazes were filled with emotions as they observed the legendary rank 9 gu worm on his shoulders. Some drooled at the sight of flesh peeking through his slightly loose robes.
"Such injustice! Gu Yue Lo Jik prevented our sect from getting expelled from Reincarnation Battlefield. But he wasn't appointed our fairy! Sigh."
"Hehe! He is brilliant. Too brilliant! To think he would have two immortal gu worms."
Some women sighed regretfully. There were even a few men gazing at Lo Jik with heat and admiration.
"I remember how he took out a demon like Wang Nan and even sold the inheritance in an auction without keeping anything."
"I heard he also invented a new rank 4 recipe for Liquor Worm series. Truly, his talent makes me feel ashamed!"
"Hehe. Ever since Lo Jik gained Love Gu, Sect Leader Jirou experienced pressure from all sides. Her previous allies are also trying to distance themselves."
It was true. Jirou Na's and Lo Jik's strained relationship wasn't a secret. She was appointed as Shu Zhe's successor, but now she was pressured from all sides even without Lo Jik lifting a finger. This was the work of the reputation in righteous paths.
However, Lo Jik didn't care enough about that position or Jirou Na. The only interesting thing about her Northern Plains origin was the recipes for the foundation of strength path's Human Jun Strength Branch, the Jin/Jun Strength series. Lo Jik already obtained it. Di Qing's inheritance was also slightly interesting, something Shu Zhe already exchanged.
They were all mature and practical. Holding grudges was not something Lo Jik excelled at. Since he got such benefits, it was useless to spend more effort on those two and it was time to move on.
"Hmph!"
The viewers were divided into two camps. If there were disciples fawning over Lo Jik, then there were also the disciples praising Feng Jin Huang and scolding other disciples for siding with Lo Jik.
"Lo Jik was just lucky. Senior Sister Feng Jin Huang is the sect's true talent. Why else would the higher-ups deny Lo Jik from becoming this generation's fairy?"
"Yeah! Sister Feng will become this generation's fairy and surpass Lo Jik!"
"She is also more talented and beautiful. Look at her and then look at that hairless ape!"
"Shut up! Hairless? So, what if he is hairless?!" Another female disciple screamed. "He is more talented and handsome!"
"Hehe. To be honest, it would be interesting to see all of you lose your minds and suffer a mental and spiritual backlash by wanting to see Brother Gu Yue Lo Jik and Sister Feng Jin Huang getting together." Of course, there were some truly insidious and devilish gu masters hidden in the crowd, their words and expectations making both sides of the fan spectrum filled with disdain and… worry.
"Bullshit! Sister Feng will never fall for this hairless ape. I send her a letter every week, claiming my affection for her." A female disciple snorted.
"Heh! I do that every day!" Another stuck his chest out proudly.
"You get love letters every day? The quickest I get are at the duration of two days."
Feng Jin Huang heard Lo Jik transmission and grew slightly incensed. All the disciples were excited to see two top-tier sect talents spar. She initially wanted to make the battle private and use her authority to temporarily seal the battle stage from outsiders. But Bai La interjected and explained that seeing the two spar was good for Dang Hun City's morale.
"Ugh. I don't pay these any mind and return the letters," she replied with a similar transmission. Compared to Lo Jik, she stood atop a slightly taller rock hill and looked down on the latter.
"Really?" She heard him gasp. "I always make sure to send them a good reply. Who knows, some of these disciples might become rare talents or earn a miraculous fortune. Hahaha! That will be the day I strike rich!"
Feng Jin Huang scoffed disdainfully as the irritation in her heart grew.
"You're with Little Juan!"
"She lets me be myself as long as I love her." Lo Jik's tone was surprisingly serious. "After all, I'm already shared by two outstanding women. They understand my nature and let me in with both eyes opened."
The corner of Feng Jin Huang's lips twitched as she understood the depraved meaning behind his second statement.
"Hehe. How about giving them a truly good show, Sister Feng?"
She felt his gaze roam her body yet again. She snorted, her back straightening by the slightest bit with pride and indifference as his scrutiny localized around her perky and massive peaks. Unlike Lo Jik, she was dressed in dignity. Golden robes flowed down, a conspicuous red belt wrapped around her waist, tightening the fabric and stretching it around her curves. Her golden hair flowed freely, and the red of her phoenix coronet matched the red of her birthmark.
Her disdainful blue eyes also inspected Lo Jik, whose posture grew rightfully inviting. She could almost explore down his robes from her height… almost at the edge of his chest… almost to that difference of skin tone and texture around his nip—
Feng Jin Huang's gaze snapped, and she glared at Lo Jik fiercely.
"What?" Lo Jik blinked, speaking in an aggrieved tone as if a woman wronged. "What's with that fierce killing intent, Sister Feng. We're just here to spar, right?"
Feng Jin Huang did not buy into the anxiousness with which he punctuated his words.
"Look. The atmosphere around them has turned tense!"
"Brr! Look at Senior Sister Feng's sharp glare. She is keen on winning!"
"She must already be discussing his terms of surrender! Hahahaha!"
"I bet that Senior Sister Feng will win in three rounds."
"Hehe! What are you betting?"
The previous disciple snorted.
"If she doesn't win in three rounds, I will eat a shoe!"
"Fuck off! You like eating strange things! I saw you eat dirty dudou! Bet 50000 primeval stones if you have the guts.
"Bet!"
"Hmph!" Feng Jin Huang transmitted. "Don't bullshit me, Lo Jik. Your words have no effect on me. I'm not Qin Juan. How about we make this spar more interesting?"
"I bet my body. You can do anything you like to me." Lo Jik agreed without any prompts as Feng Jin Huang's gaze grew furious.
"Your body is useless! I want something else!"
Lo Jik furrowed his brows and hesitated.
"Children?"
"BASTARD!"
If her fury could kill someone then Lo Jik would still be the last person to die.
"I bet our services." Feng Jin Huang snorted. "If I win, I become the sole benefactor from all the sales related to the slaves using your killer move for the next year based on this blessed land's time flow. But you cannot stop working and must maintain the same output. If you win, I will exempt all your rental fees for one year based on the blessed land's flow of time only once you establish your business. What do you think?"
Lo Jik worked his jaw.
"Sister Feng…" He asked curiously. "Are you a masochist? Not only do you know you will lose, but you also want to suffer financially?"
"Yes, or no?! Don't stall!" Feng Jin Huang demanded loudly through the transmission.
"Sigh… fine. But I want to add something to this stipulation."
"What is it? It might be fun as long as your condition is reasonable," Feng Jin Huang asked.
"Whoever loses might feel bad and envious of the winner. I suggest the winner should take their time and comfort the loser."
He adopted a merciful tone while saying this as Feng Jin Huang groaned and glared flatly.
"No. No comfort. I'll make you my bitch once I win."
Lo Jik shrugged, his reply a swift counter to her intentions.
"I hope you're ready to bark whenever I say so."
Their glares turned sharp as the surrounding disciples stopped arguing. They watched a tense pressure build and crackle around the duo. Swift gusts of wind flowed in the desolate battle stage. Earth and wind path experts held a great advantage in this particular field of the battle stage.
Feng Jin Huang's expression darkened with a scowl. Meanwhile, Lo Jik looked up, his smirk strangely knowing.
The duo's spar was also witnessed by Fairy Yi and Bai La from different locations. A hooded figure accompanied the former.
"Feng Jin Huang and Gu Yue Lo Jik…"
A pair of deep black eyes observed the rank 9 gu worm on Lo Jik's shoulder. She briefly shuddered, barely keeping the intense emotion from affecting her cold mind and a heart filled with the raging desire for vengeance.
The voice, though womanly, was frigid and filled with fierceness, like that of a growl rumbling through a crouched tiger aiming to strike their prey.
"Why wasn't Gu Yue Lo Jik chosen as this generation's fairy?" She questioned, her tone slightly softening. Still, she was most certainly impudent and undeterred for a mortal against a grand rank 8 gu immortal.
Fairy Yi narrowed her eyes, but her expression revealed nothing.
"Perhaps you will know it once you advance as Spirit Affinity House's supreme elder."
The hidden figure snorted.
"So, my greatest competitor is Feng Jin Huang."
She observed the other figure more closely.
Fairy Yi knew more than most, her knowledge about the sect's operations, future objectives, and planned collaborations only second to First Supreme Elder. She knew that Feng Jin Huang also wouldn't become the sect's fairy. However, she wouldn't reveal such secrets.
"You are going to work more closely with Gu Yue Lo Jik. Why not introduce yourself?" Fairy Yi spoke plainly, her gaze also observing the wonders of Rank 9 Love Gu.
"He is also a strength path gu master… a gu master with talents to surpass his mortal limits, if only briefly. Hehehe." The hooded figure chuckled coldly.
Her voice grew cold.
"Interesting. Truly, interesting. I shall go and introduce myself."
Fairy Yi watched the robed figure saunter away. The latter's steps were confident and accompanied with a strange power. The rank 8 gu immortal's gaze slightly darkened and she felt helpless. Only other gu immortals of her level could make her feel this way.
This 'mortal' indeed boasted such ferocious backing!
Rank 8!
'But more terrifying than their power is the leverage they possess. Sigh. We have no choice but to collaborate with them.'
Spirit Affinity House possessed a deep foundation. It was created 300000 years ago in the medieval antiquity era! Even with an awe-inspiring power boasted by a collection of fifteen gu immortals, one of them even renowned as the strongest gu immortal of Central Continent, Spirit Affinity House could not pressure the other party.
How could gu immortals of their level not consider the benefits and risks of their actions? It wasn't that Spirit Affinity House couldn't deal with this third party. But doing so only brought losses and no benefits. Meanwhile, collaborating not only meant recruiting another source of strength to their sect but also getting better control over the other nine sects in this shocking collaboration.
'Luck path…'
A strange emotion welled in Fairy Yi's weathered chest.
'It could be said that going against the arrangement of luck is no different from ruining our own luck. But even one Venerable's arrangement cannot compare to the combined effort of all the ten ancient sects and Heavenly Court's support from the background. Oh, Giant Sun Immortal Venerable… you truly subjected an entire region with a curse of hereditary monarchy. Hehe… what Immortal Venerable? If taking down the arrangement left by Demon Venerable like yourself isn't justice, then what is?'
Fairy Yi cleared her head and stopped focusing on this matter. Her gaze concentrated on Lo Jik.
'Back then, Mo Yao betrayed the sect and managed to pierce through Giant Sun's arrangement. It was primarily due to Love Gu Worm's effects, or she would have perished without being able to assist Sword Demon Bo Qing.'
'Gu Yue Lo Jik obtained Love Gu Worm's recognition in this generation. But Mo Yao's previous actions of betrayal and his own background as an otherworldly demon was taken into consideration before being rejected as the sect's fairy. Now, he possesses Thieving Heaven Demon Venerable's inheritance, the secrets of which are still unknown.'
Unlike Feng Jin Huang, Lo Jik entirely denied the existence of the inheritance, exempting himself from sharing anything. After all, he kept claiming he didn't know anything. There were also no new gu worms on his body. And he did not gain any boost in strength. If he gained knowledge about immortal gu recipes, he still cannot use them. After all, a mortal cannot refine immortal gu worms ordinarily. Lastly, he possessed Love Gu! Even Fairy Yi was afraid of pushing Lo Jik into a corner. Nobody could predict Love Gu Worm's reaction.
'Back then, Mo Yao converted Bo Qing into the righteous path with the power of love. Too scary.'
'And… I'm assigned to research the dream realms. Meanwhile, Third Elder is tasked with researching blood path. She improved considerably in the last hundred years and already developed new blood path mortal gu worms, their effects only slightly worse than Blood Sea Ancestor's blood path gu worms. However, I'm still stuck in the entry stages of dream realm.'
Fairy Yi inspected her mind.
Lo Jik would be shocked if he could investigate Fairy Yi's mind. After all, tens of dreamy mortal gu worms without any real form moved around in leisure.
While not the same gu worms as the ones Lo Jik refined, they were indeed all mortal dream gu worms ranging from ranks 1-3!
'Now, to think Lo Jik might have had some fortuitous encounter regarding dream path and can escape from dream realms after being consumed for months…'
Fairy Yi felt even more complex when she recalled one of his creations.
'And that Rank 1 and 2 Human Adaptive Qi Gu…'
She was well aware of the gu worms Lo Jik refined and the recipes he offered to Feng Jiu Ge. Even Feng Jiu Ge didn't dare keep these recipes to himself and contributed them to the sect.
'Somehow… in a strange twist of fate, Lo Jik's become crucial in almost all our most important and secretive endeavors!'
Fairy Yi was shocked.
Heavenly Court certainly knew what the sect knew.
Had Lo Jik shown the slightest hint of being similar to demons like Song Zi Xing, he would have been exterminated regardless of the cost. But didn't he already know that? Why else did he want to join an ancient sect?
The world of lone and demonic gu masters was highly overrated!
