John didn't tell anyone where they were going the next morning.
Not because he didn't trust the group.
Because he didn't want anyone outside their group to know.
The information they had gathered the previous night was still too uncertain.
A few strange shipments.
Nighttime wagons.
Rumors of noises.
None of it proved anything.
But there was one place where all three rumors seemed to overlap.
The southern warehouse district.
John stood near the inn's entrance, looking at the busy street.
Lythriel joined him.
"You've been staring at the same street for five minutes."
"I'm thinking."
"About the warehouses?"
"Yeah."
She sighed.
"I knew it."
John smiled.
"You're getting predictable."
"You're the predictable one."
"Fair."
The others soon joined them.
Darius carried a small notebook.
Sylvara had packed almost nothing.
Aerion wore ordinary clothing instead of his usual adventurer equipment.
Lythriel noticed.
"We're trying to look normal?"
Darius nodded.
