It did not interrupt.
Ancient beings, John realized, were never in a hurry.
Thousands of years were as brief as seasons to them.
Finally, he spoke.
"...If someone else had made the same choices..."
"Would they have inherited this Legacy?"
The roots around the chamber shimmered.
"Perhaps."
John looked up.
"So the Legacy isn't exclusive to dragons?"
"No."
The answer surprised him.
"The Dragon King's Legacy was created by dragons."
"It is inherited most easily by dragons."
