Chapter 16 - 16

In a small forest on the outskirts of New York.

Suddenly, a Spider-Man tired with his son and a rhino with zero vital signs.

"Aaaa, I'm really not doing the superhero thing again, at least not for a good long while." Said Spider-Man as he leaned his daughter against a tree.

After leaning his daughter against the tree, Spider-Man walked over to Rhino. He couldn't let Rhino die. After all, even though they were enemies, Rhino was the one who had saved his daughter from Morlun's clutches. Even though reviving him would come at a huge cost to him, that didn't matter.

"I can't believe I'm reviving you after all the fights we've had, but I guess I have no choice. The debt I owe you has to be settled." Said Spider-Man as he placed his hand on Rhino's chest and a red and white light began to illuminate Rhino.

"I, THE ARACHNID TOTEM OF THIS UNIVERSE, ASK THE WEB OF LIFE AND DESTINY FOR HELP TO REPAY THE DEBT I OWE TO RHYNO, BETTER KNOWN AS ALEKSEI SYTSEVICH. I ASK FOR THE SOUL OF THIS BEING TO BE RETURNED SO THAT HE MAY LIVE THE LIFE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HIS." After Spider-Man said this, Rhino's body began to regain its original color as his wounds healed more rapidly.

'I've done everything I can to repay the debt I owe you, Rhino. I hope you live well from now on and stay away from those bad habits you had before.' thought Spider-Man, picking up his daughter who was leaning against the tree and hugging her tightly. He truly didn't know what he would have done if she had died at Morlun's hands.

A few minutes later, Rhino woke up. The first thing he saw upon waking was Spider-Man patting his now-awake daughter on the back.

"I see I couldn't save her after all. I'm sorry, kid." Said Rhino, looking at May in Spider-Man's arms. He thought the three of them were dead, and for good reason. The condition Spider-Man was in before he fought Morlun was simply dead for sure, and if he found Spider-Man hugging the girl, it would mean he and the girl had died.

"What are you talking about, Rhino? You definitely saved her. Look at her. Thanks to you, my daughter is alive." Said Spider-Man as he lifted his daughter and showed her to Rhino.

"Thank you for saving me, mister." Said May, looking at Rhino.

"No need to thank me. I just couldn't stand by and watch that monster tear a child apart in front of me." Said Rhino, getting to his feet.

"I think the fact that I'm alive is your doing, Spider-Man. As a thank you, I'll quit those dirty jobs that bother you so much. I'll do something else. I'm tired of all the chasing anyway." Said Rhino, leaving directly without letting Spider-Man speak.

"Thank you." Said Spider-Man, also getting to his feet and walking the other way with May in his arms. He was truly grateful that Rhino would stop causing mayhem. Even though he himself would no longer be a hero, he hoped that security would improve, and one less villain was no small contribution to that cause.

As he walked home with May holding his hand, he began to think about what he should do to support himself. The rent had already been paid a year in advance, so he didn't have to worry about that. What he should worry about was what job would hire him. He wasn't worried that everyone had forgotten him; he could hack into the United States database and create an identity for himself and for Mayday. In that case, he could try to get a job as a teacher at a school in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

"Daddy, what are you thinking?" said May, looking into his eyes.

"Nothing, just about the beautiful future that awaits the great doctor, engineer, graduate, president, and heroine of the universe, the great Mayday Parker." Said Spider-Man, tossing her into the air and catching her.

"Hahaha, the great President Doctor Mayday at your service, Daddy." Said May, stretching out her hands.

As Spider-Man and May frolicked, they arrived at the house they would call home for a while.

"Daddy, I'm hungry." Said May, grabbing her belly and looking at Peter, who had already taken off his mask.

"Wait a moment, May. Daddy will cook you something super delicious. You'll love it." Said Spider-Man, heading to the kitchen and seeing that there were only some penne and some spaghetti. He decided to make some penne for May.

While Spider-Man cooked, May was snooping around among the things she found. She barely remembered anything about her time trapped in hell; she was like a new soul on earth, literally.

"Princess May, your father requests your presence for dinner." Said Peter in a funny voice that made May laugh.

"Little Princess May presents herself to her father." Said May, striking the princess pose she had seen on a billboard on the way home.

Once the food was served, Peter and Mayday began to eat while Peter told her about the things he used to do when he wore the Spider-Man suit.

When they finished eating, Peter taught his daughter how to shower while he looked for some of the clothes he had for when Susan's children came over.

Once May finished showering, Peter helped her put on an old dress that Valeria used to wear when she came over with Franklin and Susan. Although it was a little big on her, he would buy her clothes tomorrow when he went to visit his uncle at the cemetery.

When bedtime came, Peter thought about letting Mayday sleep alone, but gave up when he saw her about to cry. After all, she wasn't yet old enough to sleep alone.

The next day, Peter got up and without May noticing, he ran downstairs and bought breakfast as fast as he could. But when he returned, his heart broke. He found his daughter crying and searching for him all over the house. Luckily, he was able to calm her down after a while, and the neighbors didn't complain.

After breakfast, Peter took a taxi with Mayday to the cemetery where his Uncle Ben was.
