Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 : Robert's Demise

"It's showtime now, Robert", Kevin declared furiously. "What have you thought?? We are here without a backup.", Kevin added.

"Either way, you're all going to die today. You guys don't seem to have enough backup.", Robert smirked disdainfully.

Suddenly, the door of the Maybach Exelero swung open.

A man in his early thirties stepped out, revealing a handsome, chiseled face with cold confidence. His body-hugging formal suit along with his long, tied-back hairs and piercing gaze, exuded a terrifying aura that made the air itself feel heavier.

"Forgot me, Robert Glen??", Peter poked Robert.

"Dare repeat those words and you'll be begging for death.", Peter continued, his voice low but lethal.

'What the hell is happening today? First Kevin...now Peter, why are they so desperate to save Jack? Is he some prominent figure?', Robert murmured to himself, panic tightening his chest.

"What happened Robert? Got scared??", Kevin asked teasingly. "Seriously Kevin, don't joke man. Why bother scaring a man who's already pissed his pants?", Peter expressed mocking Robert.

"Boys, torture them to death, before I lit brother Jack's cigarette. But, leave that contract killer for me.", Peter ordered coldly as he walked towards Jack.

Only six men stepped out from the two beasts, machine guns in their hands. The moment the triggers were pulled, the guns erupted, showering bullets like hellfire. The six men looked like lackeys of the God of Death with no emotions in their eyes, as if they had come for only one purpose: to deliver the death sentence.

In no time, All of Robert's men were finished. "Drag that bastard over here. I have something to ask----something only he can answer.", Jack ordered coldly to Peter's butlers.

Robert was dragged forward like a broken animal. The moment he saw Jack's eyes, whatever strength he had left evaporated. His knees slammed into the floor, and he collapsed fully, banging his forehead against the ground again and again until it bruised.

He begged before Jack, "B-Brother----no—no----Master, Forgive me for my grave mistake. I was unaware of your true potential."

Jack stared at him in silence. The lack of response was worse than a scream.

Kevin took a step forward and struck Robert with a brutal slap across the face, sending him sprawling. "Scoundrel, you thought you could kill us and walk away??". He slapped him again. Robert whimpered, tears and blood mixing on his face.

Kevin grabbed Robert by the collar and growled, "Speak, who hired you? Or I'll make you wish you'd died with your men."

"And choose your words carefully, because this is the last time you'll be allowed to speak as a human being.", Jack finally spoke, his tone colder than Kevin's rage.

Robert frightened.

"I—I don't know his real name," he stammered, voice cracking as his fingers clawed at the floor. "We only called him the Broker. P-Please, I swear—"

Kevin's boot came down on Robert's hand with a sickening crunch.

Robert screamed, the sound tearing out of him before he could stop it.

Jack didn't flinch.

"Lies, don't test my patience I have very little of it left. Speak. You're already at my mercy.", Jack said quietly.

Kevin leaned down, his voice low and intimate, "You hear that? He's being generous."

Robert sobbed openly now, mucus and blood smearing his face as he nodded frantically, "The docks—East Harbor—warehouse seventeen. Surrounded by armed men, more than a thousand. That's all—I swear that's all!"

Jack crouched at last, bringing himself to Robert's level.

For the first time, Robert dared to look up.

The emptiness in Jack's eyes erased whatever hope he had left.

"You made one mistake," Jack said. "You thought you had the ability to eliminate me."

He straightened and commanded, "Peter."

"Yes, Brother", Peter replied calmly.

"Send him to hell."

Robert's eyes widened in horror. "W-Wait—please! I told you everything! I beg you—!"

Jack paused, just long enough to glance back over his shoulder.

"That is why, I am granting you an easy death."

Peter cocked his Pistol and Baaangggg.

The wail didn't last long.

Robert's lifeless body slammed the ground.

Silence reclaimed the surroundings.

Kevin exhaled slowly, rolling his shoulders. "So," he said, glancing at Jack, "East Harbor?"

Jack took a deep drag of his cigarette and declared, "Yes."

"Now," Kevin asked.

"We will meet the people who thought they could exterminate us", Jack Replied, his voice cold, steady and devoid of any emotion.
