Chapter 182 - Chapter 178. The Device is Almost Ready

"How long will it take to create a stable portal?" Corvus asked the Kree scientist in the abandoned Parisian subway station.

The once-deserted station was now overflowing with equipment. Scientists in white coats worked diligently, operating various devices.

"We're almost finished. All that remains is to activate the Space Stone, and we'll be able to open a stable portal," the scientist replied.

He understood that he was helping the Mad Titan's minions invade another planet. The Kree had engaged in such activities in the past, but after their Supreme Intelligence was destroyed, the empire began to decline. Now they could barely maintain their own existence.

Moreover, after receiving the mobile phone Corvus brought, he realized a shocking truth: this planet was the homeworld of the very woman who destroyed their Supreme Intelligence. Captain Marvel, by depriving them of their star and resources, left the Kree on the brink of survival. She was now known among them as "the Destroyer."

At first, he was afraid, fearing she might return and obliterate them. But then he realized he was serving the Mad Titan, who wasn't afraid of her. A desire for revenge consumed him: since that woman dealt such a blow to their empire, why not help the Titan destroy her home planet?

"What's missing?" Corvus asked.

He had acquired the equipment and scientists using the Space Stone and the Mind Stone, subjugating people and emptying several laboratories.

Although he couldn't fully control the Cube, he managed to use the Scepter to jump between the laboratories and the subway station. After the first laboratory was ransacked, the Kree scientist assembled a primitive portal device, allowing for more precise spatial displacement.

And now their plan was nearing completion.

"We have the portal stabilizer. Now we need an energy source to activate the Cube," the scientist continued. He had initially acted under duress, but after learning that this was Captain Marvel's home planet, he became much more motivated.

"Our device is ready; as soon as we activate the Cube, the portal will open."

"Good. Have you found where we can acquire the necessary energy?" Corvus asked, his attitude towards the scientist softening.

"There are many such sources, but the most suitable for us is here." The Kree pulled out a tablet and displayed an image of Stark Tower.

"This building contains the energy we need. This Stark is talented, to create such a thing on such a backward planet. However..." He pointed to the massive arc reactor at the base of the tower.

"Is something wrong?" Corvus asked, noticing the hesitation in the scientist's voice.

"This building is located in New York City, where the Storm Swordsman frequently appears. It's possibly his base of operations."

"I see." Corvus considered their next move.

This individual, known as the Storm Swordsman, possessed incredibly powerful armor, and he had already experienced its might firsthand. Confronting him would be a difficult task.

He had already studied Earth's military capabilities through their internet. The planet was in the firearm stage of development, and if that were their only strength, the Chitauri invasion could proceed smoothly. However, the Storm Swordsman's presence indicated hidden forces on Earth. Their primary objective was to open the portal for the Chitauri fleet and ascertain the planet's true capabilities.

"Prepare everything and configure the device to open the portal as quickly as possible. Transmit the data and set the destination for the transfer here." Corvus pointed at Stark Tower.

"What if the Storm Swordsman and Iron Man try to stop us?" the scientist asked.

"Once we open the portal, we'll leave everything to the Chitauri. We'll see if this Storm Swordsman can handle an entire fleet," the Black Order general replied with a sinister smile.

"Understood, my lord!" the Kree scientist replied enthusiastically, feeling a surge of excitement, likely at the thought of imminent revenge.

After this, he immediately began accelerating the work, giving orders to the mind-controlled scientists and personally configuring the transmitter for teleportation directly to Stark Tower.

Observing the busy personnel, Corvus nodded and went to find Proxima Midnight to discuss their attack plan.

...

"Are you sure they'll stay in Paris and let us find them?" Tony asked the others in the Helicarrier's laboratory.

"It's better than sitting around doing nothing. Paris is currently the most likely place to find them," Bruce said, configuring the equipment to track the Tesseract's energy signature.

"Tony, I think you should be more worried about your tower. You recently installed a massive arc reactor there, and it's possible they'll target it," Noah said, leaning against the lab wall. This was a plausible scenario, although now, with Loki on board the Helicarrier, their opponent was Corvus. Who knew if Stark Tower could withstand the upcoming events?

"Oh, you're right! I'd better suspend operations at the tower and send the employees home, just in case," Tony said, taking out his phone to ensure the safety of his workers.

While Tony attended to his affairs, Noah returned to his task—trying to sense the Space Stone's fluctuations. If Corvus used the Cube to teleport to Stark Tower, he might be able to detect it.

"Everything's ready. Now we can try to pinpoint the enemy's location," Bruce announced.
