Chapter 4 - So Close

At worst, I'll earn a sum of Spirit Stones, return to the mortal world, buy a few large mansions, and marry several beautiful wives.

Such a life was unimaginable in his previous life.

In his previous life, Luo feng was nothing more than a corporate drone, enjoying the blessing of a 996 work schedule.

He lived in a small apartment less than twenty square meters, spending his days in a daze, either working or playing games.

After fantasizing about returning to mortal life, Luo feng suddenly felt a bit more energetic.

No matter what, I am still a Cultivator, even if I am at the lowest level of existence, I have surpassed ninety percent of the people in this world.

He cheered up again and began to Cultivate the Profound Water Art. This time, he quickly entered a state of focus.

Luo feng gently touched the enlightenment pearl with his consciousness, and immediately entered an ethereal state.

It was not until an hour later that he recovered. After a brief assessment, he found that this Cultivation session was equivalent to four or five days of normal Cultivation.

However, Luo feng felt a slight headache. Cultivating in an epiphany state consumed a lot of mental energy.

He rubbed his head and sighed, but then a smile appeared on his face.

"But it's worth it. Comprehending Cultivation Techniques and Cultivating can both be done at the same time."

Later, Luo feng really couldn't hold on any longer and fell asleep on the bed.

In the early morning, Luo feng woke up early, drew a basin of water, and briefly washed his face.

"There's not much water left in the cylinder. It seems I need to fetch some water, otherwise there won't be any for breakfast later," he thought.

Looking at his reflection in the water, he saw a youthful face, slightly dark skin, and ordinary features—the kind that no one would give a second glance in a crowd.

This was the first time Luo feng had properly looked at himself. He felt a sense of unfamiliarity, as if the person in the mirror wasn't him.

It was already fortunate to be reborn; he couldn't be picky. A young body was always better than an old one.

Luo feng sighed, quickly ate breakfast, and began his day's work. Throughout the day, he was somewhat distracted, which caused his efficiency to be slower than before.

He barely finished before nightfall.

This can't go on. Luo feng was not in the mood to do anything all day today. He kept wondering what to do in the days to come. If he were to leave, he would only be able to make a living in the nearby market.

This was a small market built by the Ghost Control Sect itself, with Foundation Establishment Cultivators stationed there year-round, so basic safety should be guaranteed. Moreover, it was very close to here, and the journey would be safer.

Otherwise, with Luo feng's small frame, he might very well be ambushed and killed by strongmen on the way before even reaching the market.

The number of Cultivators who disappeared from the market each year was countless, yet many Cultivators still chose to join. Cultivation is difficult, Luo feng sighed.

"Tomorrow, I'll talk to Manager Li about my intention to leave. It's better not to drag it out, lest Manager Li gets other ideas, which wouldn't be good.

Anyway, dragging it out won't change the outcome. It's better to be straightforward. This daily torment is quite unbearable.

It's a pity about the original owner's skill in tending Spiritual Plants; it will probably be difficult to use it once I leave here," Luo feng scoffed.

After making the decision, Luo feng felt a bit lighter. This matter had been like a huge mountain pressing on his heart, making it hard to breathe. The disparity in strength between them was too great.

Luo feng couldn't even muster the thought of resisting. A Qi Refinement Stage Six Cultivator could probably deal with a small fry like him with just a flick of a finger.

Aside from retreating, he seemed to have no other choice. Luo feng thought while holding the wooden bucket he had used to fetch water earlier, first filling the water cylinder.

He then heated some water and took a comfortable hot bath. As for the Cleansing Talisman, he had to use it sparingly, at least until he mastered drawing Talismans.

Luo feng took out the previously mentioned book, Compendium of Talisman Drawing, and began to carefully study the method for drawing the Cleansing Talisman.

Since he planned to leave, he had to master a skill to make a living, otherwise Luo feng had no confidence in surviving in the market.

Through reviewing the original owner's memories, he knew how difficult the lives of low-level Loose Cultivators were, which was why the original owner was in constant anxiety after learning he would be expelled from the Ghost Control Sect.

Luo feng gently touched the enlightenment pearl with his consciousness, immediately entering an ethereal state, rapidly absorbing knowledge about Talisman crafting.

After a long while, Luo feng finally opened his eyes. So that's how it is. He felt he had basically mastered the method for drawing the Cleansing Talisman and intended to put it into practice.

He thoroughly cleaned the table in the room, took out a blank Talisman paper, and a bottle of prepared spiritual ink.

First, calm his mind.

Focus his spirit.

After ensuring his mind was calm, Luo feng slowly picked up the Talisman brush, dipped it in spiritual ink, and prepared to officially begin drawing.

He hadn't written with a calligraphy brush in a long time, and Luo feng felt his hand was very stiff.

He knew how to draw, but his hand wouldn't obey, and the Talismans he drew were crooked and distorted.

Luo feng himself couldn't bear to look. He had thought drawing Talismans was too simple.

If it were that easy, the original owner wouldn't have only mastered the drawing method for the Cleansing Talisman.

Undoubtedly, this drawing attempt failed. Afterwards, Luo feng dared not use blank Talisman paper for practice. A stack of blank Talisman paper cost a considerable amount of money.

He couldn't afford such luxury yet. He rummaged through the room, found some blank paper, dipped the Talisman brush in water, and began practicing the drawing method for the Cleansing Talisman on it.

With the original owner's foundation, Luo feng gradually mastered the drawing technique of the Cleansing Talisman. At least on the surface, the patterns of the Cleansing Talisman no longer had significant issues.

Unlike before, when the drawings were crooked and twisted. One must know that Talisman drawing is very strict; where to apply light pressure and where to apply heavy pressure during strokes all have strict requirements.

A Great Master might have his own understanding and could be a bit more flexible, but as a novice, Luo feng dared not be careless, practicing entirely according to the book's instructions.

Feeling he had a slight grasp, Luo feng decided to try again. He took out another blank Talisman paper. This time, the drawing was much smoother, the entire process flowing like water.

Almost succeeded, hold steady.

Suddenly, the entire Talisman paper ignited. At the very end, when finishing the stroke, Luo feng didn't control it well, leading to a small error.

However, this time he was very close to success. Luo feng was confident he could draw it on the next attempt.

Careful, careful, be extremely careful.

Luo feng kept reminding himself in his heart.

He finished the stroke in one fluid motion, and immediately, a faint light flashed on the Talisman paper.

Liu Sheng compared the Cleansing Talisman he drew with the one the original owner had drawn, and found that his own seemed even better.

The lines on the Talisman paper were much smoother.

However, the specific effect would only be known after testing.

Luo feng put away the Cleansing Talisman he had drawn, intending to test its effect tomorrow.

Then he tidied up the items on the table, sat cross-legged on the bed, and began to Cultivate. Although the effect of meditation was not very good, it would be considerable over time.
