(This old woman has a very vile mouth. See if I don't beat her up. She dares insult my mother in-law?)
Mother Su feels touched. Her daughter in-law was really caring.
(That old hag is meant for me to trouble. I haven't even started troubling her yet, when did it become the turn of this old woman)
All of Mother Su's warm feelings disappear. Yes this daughter in-law was definitely a demon.
Yehua hit the broom viciously on the old woman's body repeatedly.
The villagers return from their sudden shock with the women rushing to grab Yehua.
Yehua hits a few of them, her eyes sweeping over the rest of the onlookers.
" If you are tired of living, step forward. The old woman will need a companion during her journey to hell." Yehua says.
The villagers shook in fear and retreated. Yehua smiles in satisfaction and resumed her beating.
A somewhat smart villager runs to get the village chief and the Xiao family members.
Meanwhile old madam Xiao wasn't even able to plead for mercy. Each strike seemed targeted at her limbs. It was painful but it wouldn't cause adverse effects to her health. However her fall ached her waist slightly.
" Stop this immediately."
A voice says.
Yehua turned to look at an old man whose white beard seemed to tremble with rage.
He is closely followed by a group of people.
" Who are you?" Yehua questions.
" I am the village chief of this village." The man says.
" Ah. Greetings Village chief." Yehua says.
"Mother!!! What have you done to my mother?" Second son, Xiao Erniu, says rushing to old woman Xiao.
" Erniu, kill that b"tch for me. She hit me so hard. Woo Woo, why do I have to go through such humiliation at this age?"
Xiao Erniu rushes up to Yehua and raises his hand. Yehua grabs it and executes a shoulder flip throwing Xiao Erniu on the floor next to his mother. The both of them pass out
The rest of the Xiao family turn silent. The new daughter in-law of Su Ruimei was not to be messed with.
" What are you doing? Do you know you could get arrested for this unfilial act?" A man dressed like a scholar says. He was Xiao Wenliang the first son of the Xiao family. Resources were pulled into his education and despite studying for many years, he was unable to pass the scholar exam.
Xiao Wenliang had an unremarkable face that seemed almost determined to remain unremarkable.
His features were broad and somewhat coarse, with a square jaw, thick brows, and a nose that was neither straight nor particularly elegant. His skin was darkened by years of rural life, and the roughness of his hands betrayed the work he preferred others to forget he had once done. There was nothing scholarly about his natural appearance.
Yet Wenliang dressed as though he had been born in a scholar's household rather than a farming village.
His clothes were always clean and deliberately arranged, with long robes chosen in subdued colors and his hair carefully bound beneath a scholar's cap. He kept his back straight, his sleeves neat, and his hands tucked behind him whenever he walked through the village, as though he were accustomed to strolling through the courtyards of wealthy households rather than muddy farm paths.
He had even cultivated a habit of speaking slowly, lowering his voice whenever he wished to sound profound, and pausing before answering simple questions as though he were contemplating matters of great importance.
Unfortunately, the impression rarely survived close inspection.
His coarse features remained coarse beneath the carefully maintained appearance, and his thick fingers looked particularly out of place against the elegant sleeves he favored. There was always something slightly forced about the way he carried himself, as though he were constantly performing the role of a learned gentleman for an audience that had never asked for the performance.
Xiao Wenliang was ashamed of being born a farmer.
He was ashamed that other people might remember it.
" Who is this clown? A chicken that falls in paint, thinks it's now a phoenix?" Yehua says with disdain.
Xiao Wenliang's face darkens.
" How dare you be so disrespectful? Don't you know the importance of filial piety? Are you deliberately going again the law?" Xiao Wenliang says.
The villagers immediately support, pointing fingers and talking at the same time.
Mother Su worriedly stands next to Yehua. She wouldn't let anyone touch her daughter in-law. She cost her her last coin.
Yehua laughs. Her laughter puzzles everyone. She keeps laughing till a tear roll down her eyes and her breathing even became changed.
Then she looked up with murderous eyes.
" Filial piety? You dare accept this ancestor's filial piety?" She says.
" You.. You.. I'll get the officials to arrest you." The village chief says
The villagers murmur in agreement. This new daughter in-law was too troublesome. Let the officials handle her. Their fear of officials were currently less than the urge to kick away this insolent person.
"Ha!" Yehua says, " Go ahead and call the officials. I'll beat up your family members, burn down your house and set your fields on fire before they get here. Let's see if getting me arrested is more important than your source of food and your life." Yehua had a devilish smile on her face.
A cold chill run along the villagers backs.
What sort of monster did Su Ruimei bring back as a daughter in-law?
" Now I'll say this only once. I, Yehua, will not look for trouble. But if you want to be animals... "
She looked around.
" Then we can be animals. Now get out all of you."
The villagers flee as though they received a death pardon.
" Hey."
They all halt.
" Take your trash with you." Yehua says motioning to Old woman Xiao and Xiao Erniu.
The scholarly Xiao Wenliang wouldn't do such a thing. He motioned to the women behind him.
With a lot of effort and help from some villagers, the unconscious mother and son are taken to their home
