Chapter 710: Engagement
They hadn't seen each other for half a month.
Though they had some radio contact, both hearts were filled with longing.
Once the maid left, the two embraced.
Shanaila was lifted and placed by the bed, her hands instinctively gripping the frame.
"Mm~!" she moaned softly.
Biting her lip, she hummed rhythmically. "Slower, they might hear."
"Everyone's asleep. What are you afraid of?"
"Be careful," Shanaila said, her skin flushed.
"Hold on."
"Slower," Shanaila whispered.
She lightly punched his back, then grabbed a handkerchief from the bedstand and bit down on it.
Soft whimpers followed the rhythm.
Night deepened.
The two sat naked on the bed, facing each other.
Wu Heng stood up. Shanaila yelped and wrapped her legs around his waist, arms tight around his neck.
"What now?!"
"Water." Wu Heng carried her to the table, sat down, and took a sip.
"I'm thirsty too," Shanaila purred.
Wu Heng held her chin and poured the water into her mouth.
Then resumed their unfinished passion.
After quite a while, Shanaila exhaled heavily. Wu Heng carried her back to bed.
They cuddled under the blanket.
"Philipa didn't keep you company? Why so enthusiastic?" Shanaila murmured, pressed against his chest.
Wu Heng caressed her supple form. "Missed you."
"Sweet talker."
"The Gold-Silver Island garrison idea—was that your suggestion to Britanny?" he asked, pulling her closer.
Shanaila gently stroked his chest. "Yes. She's earnest and really wants to build the city well. I figured I'd suggest it."
She paused. "I invested in several local properties. I can't just let her lose the city right after signing contracts."
Wu Heng said, "Thought so. Wouldn't have come up otherwise."
Shanaila nodded, smiling. "Think of it this way—the entire military force is yours. You hold real control."
Wu Heng raised an eyebrow, understanding her point.
He toyed with her body and said casually, "Well, I've already agreed. Let's take it one step at a time."
"Alright. Your call," Shanaila replied.
"I need to order some supplies—urgently. Can you help source them?"
"What kind of supplies?"
He handed her a list. "Mainly steel. Preferably pre-cut to these specifications."
Shanaila took out a Lightstone and examined it. "Nettalei can't meet these specs. Will take time."
"Then let's place the order," Wu Heng said.
Shanaila nodded. "Tomorrow I'll radio Minnie with the contact info. We'll push the order fast."
"Good," Wu Heng said.
Being a merchant, Shanaila valued time efficiency.
She'd handle it faster than Wu Heng negotiating with every merchant.
"One more thing," Shanaila looked up.
"What is it?"
"I want to host a second potion auction here to boost the city."
Wu Heng frowned. "It's not exactly safe yet."
"I'll wait for word from the Guild," Shanaila said.
"Alright, we'll see how it goes."
They talked a while, then drifted to sleep.
......
Zombie World, pharmaceutical plant.
Early morning, Wu Heng brought three Level 10 alchemy skeletons to the plant with Li Yanhong.
In the workshop, a middle-aged woman approached with over twenty lab coat–wearing personnel.
"Deputy Commander Li," she greeted with a slight bow.
The others bowed too.
Li Yanhong nodded and gestured. "This is our leader."
Everyone stared curiously.
Then all bowed. "Leader."
Wu Heng smiled. "No need for formality."
Li Yanhong said, "Yang-jie, stay. The rest can return to work."
The group dispersed.
Yang-jie stayed and asked, "How can I help?"
Li Yanhong said, "These skeletons are great with alchemical potions. They'll work on converting formulas to pill form."
"Potions?" Yang-jie frowned.
Wu Heng continued, "Yang-jie."
She bowed again. "Just call me Yang Qiu."
Wu Heng said, "Your job is to teach them how to make pills. Leave efficacy testing to them."
Rather than humans experimenting, Wu Heng figured teaching skeletons the process was faster.
The recipes were already complete; they just needed compression materials.
Shouldn't be too hard.
Yang Qiu hesitated, then nodded. "Alright. I'll take them to the lab and assign instructors."
Wu Heng turned to the skeletons. "Stay and learn."
The three skeletons walked behind Yang Qiu.
She shivered and led them away.
Shortly, she returned. "Leader, Deputy, want a quick tour and update?"
Wu Heng and Li Yanhong nodded and followed her in.
......
Border of Rentam City and the Kingdom of Yeko.
"Advance!"
Armored human soldiers marched in unison, blades in hand.
Flags fluttered, their eyes full of resolve.
Woo~!
A sudden horn sounded.
Aura of Courage enveloped the troops.
"Charge!"
"Attack!"
With deafening cries, the human army surged toward the undead.
Before them stood a vast skeleton army.
Within the skeleton ranks—
A ranger darted through.
Stopping mid-column, he reported, "Commander Jeffery, enemy 300 meters away."
Jeffery, Level 11 Warrior, former core of the Spikes Gang, now Rentam's scout and support leader.
Broad and burly in polished silver armor.
But hearing the rising war cries, sweat poured under his helmet.
Just a gang member who climbed to city command under Wen Mansa.
Scared facing the Warhammer Party, let alone a full army.
Though prepared, his heart raced with panic.
"Keep scouting," Jeffery ordered.
"Yes sir!" The ranger departed.
Jeffery turned to a nearby carriage. "Commander, enemy 300 meters out."
The door opened—a skeleton in a pink sunhat stepped out.
Standing atop the frame, it gazed toward the horizon.
Next second—
The skeleton army began marching forward in eerie unison.
Distance closed to 200 meters.
Frontline shieldbearers spread out. From gaps in their shields, black gun barrels emerged.
Bang~!
The first shot rang out. A charging soldier froze mid-stride and collapsed.
