Chapter 8 - Medication

After breakfast, we separated with Jack, Watson, and Israr since it is about time for them to train. Seela lead us along the path where various greenhouses stood. I saw people wearing green jumpsuits walking around. I saw a woman pressing a button on a tablet and hovering spheres started to water the plants. Another was pushing a hovering cart full of strange water plants that I assume are seedlings.

Whenever they see Seela, they would call out and greeted her. Seela would simply nod and wave her hand at them in acknowledged.

"You seem popular." I said.

"I was part of the team that help retrieve them."

"They were also recued?

"Yes." She said and gestured around him. "This is our green house where we grow the vegetables. To your far right is the fish arm. If ever you choose not to join the front liners, then you can join the Weavers. They specialize in agriculture."

"Is this the job that other people who can't become front liners do?" I asked.

"Mostly, yes. There are still a lot of jobs out there that you can do. But I do hope that you join the front liners." She said as we crossed a bridge with buzzing drones feeding the small fishes below us. "We don't get much friers these days."

I looked at her with a raised brow. "What about the lemurian born and raised here?"

"There aren't that much of them left, but they are out here." She says and we watched as two men carried a large salmon off of the manmade pool. A robotic drone came and helped the man drop the salmon in a hovering container. "They are currently on a mission to invade government facilities and rescue more people who are being tortured out there."

We started walking again. This time headed towards the far right. But before that, we stopped as Seela pointed at our other side. "That's where the others are staying. It's kind of plane looking but it is the most grounded design that we could...provide. I think it resembles an apartment building in your world?"

No, it doesn't look like an apartment building!

What I am looking at right now is similar to one of those tree lamps from online shops. The 'building' has a huge stem with small spheres at the bottom. I saw people riding them and carry people to the larger spheres on the 'building's branches'.

"Yeah." Apartment my ass.

"What are those?" I asked.

"It's their rooms."

"Can I move there?"

At this, Seela gave me a look. "I thought you like your new place. The pods are bigger than their room. And it gets bigger the taller it gets."

I cringed. "It... grows?" I asked dreadfully.

"The more your lemurian abilities progress, the more that it grows. The pods are actually a combination of organic and technological investigation made by our scientists." He said. "And I thought you like your room? I mean, you already took the liberty to-"

"I'll stay in the pod! I get it. Can we go now?"

Seela started leaded us to what he calls the research facility. Apparently, it is also one of the jobs that we can take. Sadly, we cannot enter it unless we decide to join. To join, the new recruits would be tested of their intelligence one week after entering lumora. She says that most non freirs awaken a dominant skill of intelligence the longer they stay. They can either join the research facility or practice medicine.

I looked at Seela as she lead us towards their medical facility. It might be late for me to wonder about this, but they really obsess about domes and circular facilities. And you can only guess what the medical facility looks like. A dome.

A freaking solid white and glass dome. We passed through glass doors that slid open as we got nearby. People wearing light blue jumpsuits and lab gowns greeted us. Well, more like greeted Seela.

"What are we doing here?" I asked.

Seela lead us towards the white aluminum floors and faced off of the many doors along the hallway. She paused in front of it as She gave me a smirk. "To visit a friend of yours." She said and then placed a hand on the scanner. It opened and we went inside.

"Geeta?" I breathed as I felt relief washing over me as I gaze upon the blonde-haired girl sitting on a white bed with blue line lights on the edges. She was talking to a women wearing a white and blue jumpsuit. When she heard my voice, she looked back and grinned.

"Hey you. Come on in."

I looked puzzled at her cheery attitude. The last time I saw her, she was angry and crying after she lost her unborn child. But looking at her now...she seemed to have recovered from the incident. Or perhaps calmed down a bit.

I moved and went inside when I felt the burning gaze of Seela on me. I stood in front of Geeta and gave her an awkward wave of hand. "Hi." I said and bent down to hug her when I saw her making that gesture. "You look well." I said after we parted.

She glanced to the side and smiled. "I can't be a sour puss forever. I mean, in a way I am at fault. I should have become more suspicious when I saw an ad flashing on my phone about a cheap plane ticket. That alone was sketchy enough."

"You can't blame yourself. You were only doing what you think is best for you and your child at that moment." I said. I saw her giving me a nod, but it seems like she wasn't baying my words. Then she suddenly shook her head and faced me with a smile. "I'll have my revenge on them someday. For my child and for the others." She said. Her tone giving me chills at the determination of it. Then, as if she finally looked at me fully for the first time as she gave we a once over. Her eyebrow shot up as she faces me a teasing grin. "Look at you though. She said. You got a makeover?"

"Yeah." I scratched my head in embarrassment. "I am sort of living in this pod organic thinking because I apparently have this percentage of blood that makes me qualified. And last I heard, so are you."

Geeta chuckled. "Yeah. I heard of that too. They said it was thanks to that I recovered fast." Then, as if she suddenly remembered something, she clapped her hand once. "Oh, I just remembered. This is Dr. Kamali." She gestured to the lazy beside her with the blue and white jumpsuit. She was holding a clipboard to her chest with one hand and the other was in her white fitted lab gown. The girl has a boy cut black hair and silver eyes. She offered me a hand that wasn't holding the clipboard for me to shake. I shook hands with her, and Geeta waited after we finished. "Remember that friend that I talked to you about? She's the one that I was supposed to meet." I tilted my head to the side. The girl doesn't seem to be that old.

"How did you get here?" I asked.

She gave me a small smile. "I was taken from my apartment by...people." She said. "I was thrown into a van. They were wearing dark suits and have black helmets. I didn't know what was going on until...until...these people saved me." She gave seela a glance and we all turned our attention to him.
