Genshin Impact: I'm The Envoy of Snezhnaya
Chapter 321: Kaeya's Nightmare
Angel's Share.
The Mondstadt quartet had once again gathered in the attic, but this time, Kaeya had been carried up.
Because even now, he still hadn't woken up.
Lisa had already tried treating him with medicine, but with all her knowledge, she still couldn't figure out why Kaeya had fainted in the first place.
"Do we really have to discuss his situation in such a dark and cramped space?"
While preparing a potion for Kaeya, Lisa lazily asked Jean.
No matter how you looked at it, they were the righteous side, right? Yet holed up in the attic like this, they looked far more like a group of shady villains.
"Sorry, Lisa. There are some things I don't want the rest of the Knights to know too much about."
After apologizing, Jean explained.
After Grand Master Varka went on his expedition, she had only just managed to stabilize Mondstadt again. If the matter of Ausbilder spread… the city that had finally regained its peace would likely be plunged back into a suffocating atmosphere once more.
That was not something she wanted to see.
Back then, it had been the four of them who teamed up to clear the Ausbilder incident, successfully sending that menace away. That was precisely why she had gathered the same group again this time.
The only question was whether the current Ausbilder was even stronger than before.
"What I'm more concerned about is whether the drying up of Springvale's spring has something to do with the Ausbilder."
Unlike the residents of Springvale, who treated the spring spirit as nothing more than a legend, Diluc—having traveled through the Seven Nations—knew very well that spring spirits truly existed.
He just didn't know whether the one in Springvale was still there.
After all, he had no way to communicate with spring spirits.
If the spring spirit truly existed, then did the spring drying up mean that the spirit within had already been taken away by Bai Luo?
"According to the investigation reports from the knights who went there with Kaeya, the person who brought Draff back was indeed the Ausbilder. However, the Ausbilder left immediately afterward and never entered Springvale at all."
Jean took out the report submitted by the knights and showed it to Diluc.
Normally, this kind of information would already be considered classified and shouldn't be disclosed to outsiders.
But in a sense, Diluc was Jean's senior, so there was no harm in telling him.
Besides, she didn't believe for a second that this guy truly knew nothing.
"Don't forget that strange concealment ability of his. It's a technique so advanced it can even fool the elements themselves."
During his dealings with the Fatui, Diluc had crossed paths with Pyro Agents before.
Their invisibility was indeed troublesome, but by attaching elemental energy appropriately, it was possible to see through it.
But this Ausbilder… his stealth techniques were far stronger—and far more terrifying—than those Pyro Agents.
"So you're saying it's very possible that he hid himself and followed Draff back? And that Draff's and Kaeya's unconsciousness is also related to him?"
Jean, too, was deeply wary of Bai Luo's invisibility.
The reason he'd been able to intimidate Mondstadt back then was precisely because he could slip into any place without making a sound.
Jean had once tried consulting Grand Master Varka about it, but even someone of his level couldn't see through Bai Luo's concealment.
"Everything will have to wait until Kaeya wakes up."
As Diluc spoke, he looked toward Lisa, who was still mixing medicine.
Without exaggeration, he was one of the people in all of Mondstadt who understood Lisa best. For her to be brewing medicine for this long… whatever had knocked Kaeya unconscious was indeed something frightening.
"Almost done," Lisa said.
After heating the test tube in her hand, Lisa gently shook it.
As she did, the liquid inside gradually turned into gas.
She released the gas into Kaeya's nasal cavity, then took a small step back.
A few minutes passed. Suddenly, the previously unconscious Kaeya snapped his eyes open.
However, those once-clear eyes were now bloodshot.
"Ugh!"
Scrambling to his feet in a panic, Kaeya searched for a container. Failing to find one, he grabbed a nearby ornate vase and vomited into it.
But as he kept retching, he let out a muffled groan—and lost consciousness once more.
"???"
Diluc, who had been wearing a look of obvious disgust, stared at Lisa in confusion after seeing this.
"I examined his body and found no signs of external trauma, so I guessed he might have ingested something strange. What I just had him smell was a kind of emetic. As for why he lost consciousness again… I honestly don't know," Lisa explained with a shrug.
Could someone really vomit themselves unconscious?
"Is it possible," Jean said boldly while Diluc and Lisa were at a loss, "that whatever he originally swallowed went back into his mouth and took effect again?"
"Absolutely impossible!"
The moment Jean finished speaking, Lisa shot the idea down.
Potions generally only take effect after being swallowed and absorbed by the internal organs. How could something possibly work inside the mouth?
"Then… should we try again?"
Jean tentatively suggested this while glancing at the special emetic gas in Lisa's hand, which Kaeya hadn't fully used up yet.
Lisa, meanwhile, looked toward Diluc.
No matter how strained the brothers' relationship might be, he was still Kaeya's adoptive brother. Some things required his consent.
"Try it."
Diluc agreed almost without hesitation.
With his help, Kaeya—already vomiting his guts out—was once again carried onto the sofa.
This time, Kaeya opened his eyes much more slowly than before.
But after vomiting, he fainted again.
"Maybe he needs to vomit it all out. Let's keep going."
Looking at his adoptive brother, unconscious and clutching the vase, Diluc proposed this himself without waiting for Jean to speak.
Jean: "..."
Jean actually wanted to suggest letting Kaeya rest for a bit before inducing more vomiting.
But Lisa had clearly gotten into it. With Diluc's cooperation, she adjusted the potion again and again.
By the time Kaeya had vomited a full thirteen times, he finally couldn't take it anymore.
"P-please… stop. I'm awake now."
The stench and sourness relentlessly tortured his sense of smell and taste. He felt that if this continued, he would either die from the acidity—or be killed by the smell.
"You're finally awake. That's wonderful."
Lisa said this aloud, but the look of regret all over her face made Kaeya doubt her sincerity.
After downing an entire glass of hot water, Kaeya finally breathed a sigh of relief. He slumped weakly against the sofa, his face filled with utter despair.
"We'll settle the matter of the vase later. For now… can you tell me who did this to you?"
Leaning against the attic wall, Diluc asked once Kaeya had recovered some strength.
Unexpectedly, after hearing this, Kaeya's gaze shifted toward him instead.
It was true that he'd been unconscious—but during the time Lisa had been "force-feeding" him medicine, the words he remembered most vividly were the two phrases Diluc kept saying:
"Again! Keep going!"
