After spending several hours at Angels Orphanage, it was finally time for Bella and Leo to leave.
Bella had been smiling almost the entire way back to the car. She kept talking about the children, remembering every little thing they had shown her, from their toys and drawings to their tiny beds and favorite pillows. Every few moments, another memory seemed to come back to her, making her smile all over again.
"That little girl with the curly hair was so cute," Bella said happily. "And that little boy who..."
Leo listened quietly.
But unlike Bella, his mind wasn't entirely at the orphanage's joyful moments. He kept remembering the little boy sitting alone. Those unusually mature eyes. Something about him had stayed in Leo's mind.
Bella eventually noticed his silence. She glanced at him for a few seconds before gently placing her hand on his thigh.
"What are you thinking about?"
Leo looked down at her hand, then at her curious face. "Nothing."
