Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Space Before The fall

White light swallowed everything.

Kelly's body felt weightless, as if she was being torn out of reality itself.

Then—

Thud.

She landed hard on the ground.

"Ugh!"

Pain shot through her arms and knees. She barely managed to lift her head.

But what she saw made her freeze.

The endless grassy space was still there.

The river shimmered in the distance.

The wooden house stood quietly among the trees.

Nothing looked destroyed.

Nothing looked wrong.

Yet Kelly's chest rose and fell rapidly.

Her instincts screamed that something was terribly wrong.

"…It's still here?"

Her voice trembled.

She pushed herself up, legs weak.

The jade pendant on her neck was gone now.

Instead, a faint warmth pulsed in her chest, like something had fused with her body.

Then—

A cold mechanical voice echoed inside her mind.

[Space Binding Complete.]

[Beginner Survival Space Activated.]

[Function: Storage | Supply Preservation | Era Survival Support.]

Kelly froze.

"…So it's real."

Her fingers curled tightly.

No dream.

No hallucination.

This was something beyond logic.

Then suddenly—

[Warning: Spatial Instability Detected.]

Kelly's eyes snapped up.

"What now?!"

The sky above the space rippled like water.

A dark crack slowly formed.

Just like before.

The countdown didn't appear yet—but she could feel it.

Something was coming.

Something was forcing her out.

Kelly forced herself to breathe.

Think.

Think like those novels.

She looked toward the wooden house.

Then the shelves inside it.

Her eyes sharpened.

"If I'm going to another era…"

She turned and ran.

---

Inside the Storage House

The door slammed open.

Kelly rushed inside, her footsteps echoing.

Rows of supplies greeted her like a silent army.

Food.

Clothes.

Medicine.

Tools.

Seeds.

Everything she would ever need to survive.

Her mind started calculating automatically.

Cold era… 1960s… scarce resources… poverty…

She grabbed a woven basket.

"Food first."

Instant noodles.

Canned meat.

Rice bags.

Sugar.

Flour.

She didn't hesitate.

She pulled everything within reach.

Then—

"Medicine."

Painkillers.

Antibiotics.

Bandages.

She stuffed them quickly.

Her breathing was getting faster now.

The air outside the house was already changing—wind pressing against the walls like something was trying to break in.

Kelly turned sharply.

"Clothes."

She grabbed simple cotton outfits.

Plain. Durable.

Perfect for rural survival.

Then she paused.

Her eyes landed on a small corner shelf.

Sanitary pads.

Soap.

Toothbrushes.

She hesitated for half a second.

Then grabbed them too.

"No modern era means I can't afford to be careless…"

Her voice was low, focused.

Then—

The house shook.

A deep rumble.

The sky crack above the window widened.

Kelly's heart pounded.

"Time's running out…"

She rushed to the final shelf.

A small wooden crate.

She opened it—

Seeds.

Vegetable seeds.

Corn.

Rice.

Beans.

Her eyes lit up.

"This…"

This was survival.

Not just for her.

But for the future.

She grabbed the entire box.

Then—

The wind outside became violent.

The river in the distance reversed flow again.

The space itself was breaking down.

A red glow flashed in the sky.

And the system voice returned.

[Final Synchronization: 10 seconds remaining.]

Kelly froze.

"Already?!"

She turned and grabbed a cloth, wrapping everything quickly into bundles.

Her arms were full.

Too full.

But she didn't stop.

9…

She ran to another shelf.

Grabbed matches.

Knives.

Thread.

8…

Her vision flickered slightly.

The house groaned like it was alive.

7…

Kelly's breathing turned sharp.

"I still need more… I still—"

She stopped herself.

No.

She couldn't be greedy.

Think survival.

Not hoarding.

6…

She tightened the bundles in her arms.

5…

The floor beneath her feet trembled.

4…

She rushed toward the exit.

3…

A force grabbed her body.

Pulling.

Dragging.

2…

The wooden house behind her began to fade.

Like it was never real.

1…

Kelly turned her head one last time.

Eyes wide.

"…I don't even know whose body I'm going to wake up in."

The world shattered.
