Chapter 127 - How to Split a Pack.

They entered through the side of the apartment block instead of the front.

The main lobby had long since become a graveyard of broken tiles, collapsed mailboxes, and old blood, so the hunters used a maintenance entrance half-hidden behind a buckled fence and a wall of stacked debris. Marcus went in first with his shield angled forward. Jason followed, then Harith, the three of them forming a layered front while the rest of the hunters slipped in behind.

Jagger crossed the threshold and immediately understood why they had chosen the place.

The structure was old, but solid. Thick stairwells. Narrow corridors. Concrete walls are dense enough to force anything large into predictable lines. If the monsters reached the building, they would not be swarming through it all at once. They would funnel themselves into kill zones, one ugly floor at a time.

"Up," Jason said.

No one questioned it.
