Chapter 85: Bad News, And More

Hours later*

I let out a small yawn, ignoring the noises around me as I hold up two unusual fruits for a closer look. One is a blue pear, though its lower half appears cracked. Its upper section is covered in various swirling patterns, and a green, T-shaped stem curls upward at one end.

The other is a large, round, light-purple fruit made up of many small, teardrop-shaped segments, each marked with swirl patterns. Green leaves sprout from the top, while its overall shape closely resembles either a pineapple or a cluster of oversized, teardrop-shaped grapes.

"Hey, Chikao, that Blackbeard guy you mentioned before is shouting like crazy beside that dead old man—uh, Whitebeard—the one with the large, gaping hole in his chest. He keeps screaming in a panic about how it should be impossible for Whitebeard's Devil Fruit to be gone along with his own." Momoyo said as she landed in front of me. She then crouched down beside me behind a large, broken wall that had once been part of a nearby building. "What do you have in your hands?"

"The Devil Fruits belonged to Whitebeard and Blackbeard." I said casually, as if I were merely talking about the weather. I held both strange fruits out toward her. "Want one? Just eat either of these, and you'll gain incredible power. After all, you've already seen what Whitebeard could do while he was alive."

"Wait, did you steal them from those two? How in the world did you manage to do that without anyone noticing?" Momoyo looks at me with a mixture of bafflement and confusion, her gaze shifting between me and the two fruits in my hands. "Considering everything I've seen you do in the past, this is the first time I've ever seen you steal something that should be impossible to obtain—at least by this world's standards, based on what you've told me during our meals."

"Yeah, because I know how to do it, and I have the tools to make the impossible possible." I shrug my shoulders. "So, do you want one of them or both? I can make it so you can use both without suffering any side effects."

"Does it look like I need such a thing?" Momoyo raises her left eyebrow at me as she leans closer, folding her arms tightly across her chest with a confident look.

"Not really." I shrug before slipping the two Devil Fruits into the inner pockets of my jacket—the Fool's Uniqueness. In reality, however, I secretly transfer them into the Card of Tyrant for safekeeping, leaving no visible trace of where they truly went.

"That's right. So I'm going back to beating pirates and Marines left and right to make a name for myself, just like you wanted me to. Later, Chikao." Momoyo gives me a quick kiss on the lips before leaping over the broken wall and rushing toward the nearest person she considers punchable.

I merely sigh before getting back to my feet and patting the dust from my clothes. Then, I use Psychological Invisibility on a massive scale, planting mental mirages within everyone's minds to conceal my existence once more as I make my way through the chaotic battlefield toward the corpse of Portgas D. Ace.

As I reach toward Ace's lifeless body, preparing to extract his Devil Fruit just as I did with Whitebeard, everything suddenly begins to shake like a violent earthquake. Even the surrounding sea churns and trembles, its waves rising unnaturally around Marineford.

My Spirituality begins warning me not to touch Ace's lifeless body. At the same time, brief visions of the future flash through my mind, showing me somehow resurrecting Ace as a monster infused with the essence of a Beyonder Characteristic. The resurrected Ace then turns on me, attacking in an attempt to seize my own Beyonder Characteristics.

Seeing this, I seize the moment and extract Salinger's Blood Banner from the Card of Red Priest before slamming it into Ace's lifeless body. I activate the authority of Destruction, which, at its highest level, can shatter an entire planet and, even at its lowest, can kill a True God.

Furthermore, anyone killed through the authority of Destruction cannot be resurrected without special, advanced preparations. Otherwise, their existence remains permanently terminated. With this, any possibility of Ace returning as an undead monster becomes null and void.

No random plot armor is appearing whatsoever.

A formless, colorless flame wraps around Ace's lifeless body, spreading from within and moving outward as the body, along with anything connected to it, is reduced to ashes. The Destruction is absolute, leaving nothing behind for anything unnatural to cling to.

And just like that, everything descends into chaos as numerous Sea Kings emerge from the water, attacking anything and anyone within reach. Thunderclouds appear without warning, hurling lightning bolts across the battlefield. Some manage to dodge in time, while countless others are struck before they can react.

I tighten my grip around the pole of Salinger's Blood Banner as I wield the War authority, raising the scale, intensity, and very nature of the conflict far beyond what it already is through my presence alone. At the same time, I can feel the Spirituality within the Red Priest pathway draining rapidly with every passing second.

I ignore the screams of anguish from the numerous people who notice Ace's corpse turning to ash before their eyes. Keeping Psychological Invisibility active, I move away from the area and head toward Momoyo. As I approach her, I spot Alucard suddenly diving into Momoyo's shadow to avoid nearly falling into the water when the ground beneath her shifts for a moment.

Meanwhile, Momoyo throws a left hook at Akainu, sending him flying across the battlefield. The sight reminds me just how absurdly strong she is, especially since she shouldn't be able to touch Akainu without using Haki. Somehow, in a rather Mary Sue-like fashion, she manages to use her Ki to replicate the effects of Haki after observing how others wield it throughout the battle.

I duck just in time to avoid being struck by a stray attack from a nearby pirate. For a moment, I nearly strike back, but I hold myself back, knowing that now isn't the best time to reveal my existence.

However, that won't stop me from harvesting more Devil Fruits. It's unfortunate that I can't obtain Ace's Devil Fruit for some unknown reason, but I'll investigate it later once the Sefirot calm down and stop interfering with one another.

Once the Spirituality within the Red Priest Pathway is completely drained, I put Salinger's Blood Banner away. I then make my way across the battlefield, searching for opportunities to take more Devil Fruits.

However, I stop immediately upon seeing a group of marines rushing toward the badly wounded Luffy, who remains unconscious after being forced to witness the horrifying sight of Ace being killed before his very eyes.

So, I take out a Slumber Charm and throw it toward the marines, triggering it just as it lands in the middle of the group. A wave of drowsiness spreads outward, forcing the marines and anyone unfortunate enough to be standing too close to collapse, forcing them to sleep against their will.

Many people look confused by what just happened, likely wondering whether someone used Supreme King Haki or if Luffy somehow unleashed it while unconscious, judging by the doubtful gazes directed toward him.

Nevertheless, I move on after saving one of my favorite characters from One Piece. My Spirituality within the Visionary Pathway is running low, and I won't be able to keep masking my existence for much longer.

I need more Devil Fruits; the more, the better, and so far, I only have two. However, I may have miscalculated the effects of the War authority, as everything continues to grow far more chaotic than how the battle ends in the original timeline of One Piece.

Especially when I spot Shanks and his pirate crew arriving, yet even their presence isn't enough to stop the fighting around them. Sea Kings continue devouring people left and right. Many fighters manage to kill the creatures in return, only to leave themselves exposed to attacks from the sides or behind.

I quickly search for Momoyo, spotting her just in time as she fights Akainu, Kizaru, and Aokiji all by herself. At some point, Alucard had left Momoyo's shadow, as I can now see her fighting Garp for whatever reason, laughing wildly as the two exchange blows.

I spot several other familiar characters in person, carefully avoiding the crossfire around me while continuing to search for the specific individuals whose Devil Fruits I want to obtain, if possible. But after a while, thinking about what happened with Ace, I suppose I'll have to make do with the two I already have for now.

Soon, the icy ground begins to break apart even more beneath the sea kings' attacks, causing the remaining landmass to grow smaller and smaller. Many people fall into the freezing water, while some pirates have already begun retreating to their ships. They attempt to escape Marineford with marines chasing close behind, though many struggle to reach safety as the sea kings continue attacking everything in their path.

And it's time to go. Momoyo should have already made a name for herself by this point, and the same goes for Alucard. So, I grab Momoyo first, then Alucard after Garp nearly cracks her neck with a powerful punch to the throat. Finally, I grab Bon Clay, who is busy kicking away some poor, traumatized female marine after forcing her to experience a chokehold between his hairy legs to weaken her before going for further attacks.

Using Traveler's Door, I relocate us far away from Marineford and directly to the same island where we first arrive in this world, the Island of Rare Animals.

"Well, that was fun." I say to everyone, or rather, to Momoyo and Alucard, since Bon Clay is still unable to perceive my existence. Therefore, it isn't surprising to see him looking around in shock before blinking several times and gradually relaxing once he realizes he is no longer at Marineford.

"You know, I was this close to figuring out how to convert my Ki into lava." Momoyo huffs in annoyance, giving me a side glance as faint heat still radiates from her body.

Alucard doesn't say anything, merely wheezing for a moment after being punched in the throat as she rubs the injured area.

"That's something I was not expecting to hear from you, Momoyo. But nice." I say before walking away, leaving Momoyo and Boy Clay to talk about everything that happened at Marineford while I find somewhere quiet to rest and recover my exhausted Spirituality in multiple Pathways.

I enter the log cabin and take a deep breath before reaching into the Card of Fool to retrieve the two Devil Fruits. However, my hand comes up empty, wandering through the storage space for several seconds as a faint sense of unease begins to settle over me.

"Ah, shit." I begin to sweat as I hurriedly check the other Cards of Blasphemy, wondering if I accidentally placed the Devil Fruits inside one of them instead of the Card of Fool. However, none of them contain the two missing fruits.

I take another deep breath and begin checking the Sefirot through the Cards of Blasphemy, only for my Spirituality to immediately warn me against going any further. The sudden sense of danger causes my movements to freeze.
