Chapter 390 - Seperated by Death

Alan's shoes brushed across the bridge's thick metal and lifted his pitiful gaze towards Levi's soulless pupils. "There was once a time where your personality thrived."

Levi's pupils shrank. "What the hell are you talking about, Alan!? This has nothing to do with the grief I've been facing since Reza's death!"

A cold exhale released from Alan's breath. "It does. When I first moved here, your ideals resonated perfectly with Ellis's. You were a talkative and delightful boy even before Reza."

"Shut up!" Levi shouted. "It doesn't matter how I was before! The past is the pas-"

"You're contradicting yourself. Reza's death was years ago, yet you refuse to accept it!"

Levi scoffs. "I don't need to hear your spe-"

"WHEN WILL YOU WAKE UP, LEVI!? The vibrant glow in your eyes has completely disappeared - every factor of your personality is FALLING TO GRIEF! Reza would want you to live your life freely!" His scythe bangs against the metal pillar. "This is just a hunk of metal uniting Uraview and the Grand Province - if you truly desire to fulfil Reza's legacy, GET A GRIP OF YOURSELF AND LIVE!"

Another round of thin needles rose from Levi's hands. "You don't know how it feels to lose somebody at all, Alan! If you have no idea what you're talking about, then WHY SHOULD I ACKNOWLEDGE IT!?"

The torn flap on Alan's light-green shirt blew in the wind. The shirt's fabric lifted, and the bleeding graze across his shoulder reappeared. "I believe that one day, you will triumph over the despair dominating you. Embrace happiness before it's too late."

His needles joined together and raced towards Alan. "Even if the things you say are correct, you're still betraying the Grand Province! I'll capture you and those four power sources, no matter WHAT!"

Alan's blade pushed into his finger's flesh. "I respect your unwavering loyalty to Nahata."

Gerald's arms stuck into the air, and his body leaned against the van's metal. "We've stopped moving."

"For the past ten minutes, there's been unusual power surges emitting from outside." The ring surrounding Lila's pupil faded along with her Advanced Senses. "Sadly, none of us are able to go out into the open…"

Kevin's fingers compressed into two large fists banging against the truck's surface. "LET ME GO!"

"Kevin's going to cause a scene, I'm a professional hunter… hey, how about Kaelan and Gerald go?"

Kaelan's fingers dug into the van's metal. "Anything… to get me… out of here…"

Lila turned to Gerald, who replied with a lenient shrug. "Assisting an ally in combat is the right thing to do. Not only that, but fighting can also help me train for my next encounter with Songnote."

Kevin's fists slammed together. "You two are lucky! Give the guy Alan's fighting a real beating for me!"

---

Levi's quick tracking needles pursued Alan, who effortlessly cruised under the Great Reza Bridge. "Scythe of Darkness - Distribution!"

A blue glow awakened from his legs, flowing into his scythe. He emerged from the bridge's large shadow and leaped into the skies. "Gerald and Kaelan…? What the hell are you two doing out the van!?"

His arm swung. "Remote Swing!"

Back on the water's surface hovered Alan's scythe, slashing through the haystack of racing needles. In the air rose Alan, reaching his arm towards Levi. "I have to focus on one thing at a time!"

A satisfied smile stretched across Levi's face. "Seems like your little job backfired after all!" His left arm reshaped into a large needle swinging straight for Alan's chest. "Without that scythe, you're history!"

A liquid-like substance of darkness coated Alan's arms. He grabbed the mega needle and threw it towards the flowing lake. "There's a lot more in my arsenal nobody has seen - remember, I'm not an entity hunter!"

His body descended, and his fist plunged straight into Levi's head. "Needles may reflect light, but you're dealing with pure darkness!"

Levi's body broke into multiple needles that quickly climbed back into the skies. "It doesn't matter what your power is, I'll do what you can't and PROTECT THE GRAND PROVINCE!" With mega needles across both his arms, he slashed a X into Alan's chest. However, not a drop of blood rose.

Alan's muscles strained. "Guarding the Grand Province, I've dealt with much worse wounds! My current job speculates around protecting this place with my soul, so DON'T GET IT MIXED…"

A loud ring began to sound through his brain. The sound of beeping cars, Levi's grunts, and even the blowing wind ceased to enter his eardrums. "W-what the hell is happening to me!?"

That was the exact second the entire fight changed. "Undoing Thread!" Levi's voice shouted.

A sensation of blood gushed from the mark across Alan's chest. The flowing darkness across his arms broke into small flurries before ascending into the overcast skies.

Then his body hit the flowing lake.

Levi watched Alan's descent into the water from above. "The job of entity hunters is way bigger than it seems. Not only do we save people from those creatures, but we also work tirelessly to protect this world!"
