Ben and the kid named Carl where going to carls home because ben wanted to drop him there safetly while carl just whined about wanting to catch the killer. Ben in the end just shook his head at his childishness considering they are almost the same age but Ben being the more mature one of the two.
Ben got to know carl and learned more about the history of the killer. From what ben has gathered so far that the killer have been active for many decades but his killing paterns where completely random which is why the towns folk considered them "isolated incidents" or just animal attacks.
And with the recent Continuous attacks have changed that perception of this killer
" You never told me why are you hunting him in the first place Something happened to you?"
Ben asked carl who just looked confused
" Do I need a reason to stop this killer and save the people of his town?"
It was a genuine answer He looked genuinely convinced that he can stop this killer and save people of his town It almost made Ben smile. He can see himself in this kid even though he is only one year old he has the same mentality of helping people As him.
"But Still it's too dangerous for you to go out like this especially at night"
Carl looked annoyed that ben is Lecturing him like this as if he's just a child Well technically he is but also technically both of them are children's right now!
" Oh yeah you're the one to speak considering you yourself are literally wandering around at night!"
Carl Retorted back at before Ben got defensive and said
"Hey! Firstly both of our circumstances are different and I can take care of myself"
"Oh yeah~ Not all of us have powers that can turn them into weird animals"
Carl Made a sarcastic remark at Ben's transformations which caused him to frown in displeasure as his transformations are based off of his own monster fiction rather than just being simple animals. In fact Ben finds the term animals while insulting when describing his transformations.
"Firstly they're not simple animals They are-"
Ben stopped and thought about it for a second he never truly classified his transformations as anything other than just that... transformations. They are technically aliens by default actually outside of deoxys or eternatus Not all of them can be called aliens Maybe Necrozma You can be classified as a alien but that is debatable.
He named his monotrix So he might as well call them monster transformations however monsters sounds less sophisticated than aliens. Which is why he cannot truly decide whether to call them monsters or just simply aliens or whatever else they can classified as.
"They are what?"
Carl asked ben to which ben replied
" I think calling them monsters would be much better...."
Carl Is meanwhile interested in another thing as to how can he transform into the so called monsters in the first place.
" So are you going to explain how you transform?"
Ben growned in despair as he has to now explain things about his power he would rather not though As explaining his history with aliens and different planet and alien watch along with the fact that he has created his own monster watch would be way too complicated.
"Ehhh lets not talk about it please..."
" But I really want to know!"
" I said stop it! And drop the subject entirely!"
"But..."
"I said no buts..."
This seems to have have put a stop in carl curiosity about his powers and its origin ben just sighed in relief that drop the subject entirely. He does not have the time nor patience to explain everything about his origin to a complete stranger boy he just met a few hours ago.
They continued to walk towards his home as there was a comfortable silence between them however both of them were also looking around to see if they are not being followed especially by some crazy serial killer monster thing. It was honestly a little unnerving how quiet the town is right now especially for carl Who has never witnessed his hometown being this quiet.
Soon both of them reached towards his home they saw that it has all lights turned off. This means that carls Parents have gone to sleep and then Ben noticed a window being left opened with A rope tied down Clearly this is Carl's room.
He must have escaped his house by climbing out of the window. Pretty resourceful if he says so himself Ben thought.
" And this is my home.. Thank you for dropping me here Ben"
Carl Thanked his new friend he has made this night Ben is truly a unique person not only he is not from this town but still wanting to help them but also he has weird but cool powers like turning into those monster things.
" It's no big deal honestly"
Ben said with a smile and proceeded to turn around and started walking away not before his new friend stopped him by calling out his name
"Ben wait!"
Ben then turned around to face him and see what he has to say
"Ben How about both of us go on a petrol tomorrow night!? If we work together we can definitely catch this killer!"
" Absolutely not!"
"Huh!? But why!?"
" Because it is too dangerous for a kid like you to get involved in things like this!"
" But you are a kid too you are also around my age how come you get to catch this killer but I get to hear a lecture from you of all people!... I thought we were friends!"
Ben just sighed and said
"Carl this has nothing to do with the fact that we are friends..."
"Then Why are you rejecting my request then!?"
" Like I said it is too dangerous and you can literally lose your life think about your parents first!"
" But the same rule also applies to you! you can lose your life as well Not to mention we are literally around the same age!"
Now Ben starting to get irritated by his constant persistence. While it is true that they are around the same age there is a clear difference in capability and experience. Ben have been fighting aliens and other threats for a very young age.... Well Maybe that's a bit of a exaggeration considering he has been fighting them for around nearly a year.
But still it doesn't change the fact that he is the more experienced one year along with the fact that he can actually defend himself with his watch.
" Look I understand how you feel and you want to do good but you also have to realize that you will only get yourself killed if you are not careful enough... Which is why for your own good drop this matter and simply go home to your parents"
As Ben said this he turned around and started leaving the premise entirely not wanting to argue anymore about this subject. but carl Didn't seem too happy about this and caught up to Ben and said
"But Ben think about it this way you are clearly new to the town and you don't have any idea how this town works or what this town history is you can always use the Internet but it is better for you to have a local help don't you think?"
Ben simply looked at him and said
"If I needed a locals have why would I choose a kid I could simply ask for a adult to help me?"
"Oh yeah? You are dismissing me because you think I am inexperienced which let's say I just am but do you think the adult won't treat you the same? What makes you that they will listen to a kid like you not to mention you are clearly outsider or a visitor to this town..."
Ben actually paused for a second at hearing that logic because he is actually right. Ben is just a visitor to this town with no real connection Not to mention that how he is treating him right now he will get the same treatment if he tried to get involved by some adults help.
No matter who he asked the adults would simply tell him to get out of this town or simply ask where his parents are. So, in that sense keeping carl around Won't be a bad thing if he now thinks about it Now of course he has many psychic monsters who can read people's mind but the problem is ethics.
Reading people minds or mind controlling them is a very ethical question that Ben isn't comfortable to explore right now. Especially if he is using those ability on Innocent Civil taking their and control of their own body and free will while also violating their privacy without their consent is not something Ben wants to do.
Now he won't particularly care if the person in question is a really deranged criminal or the situation is too dire that he cannot sit around and think about the ethics of this stuff However he still likes to maintain a certain boundary with his powers especially powers like telepathy and mind control.
With that thought in mind Ben just sighed and told him
" You know what you are right I may actually need a local help here"
Hearing this carl Got overjoyed that he is now part of the to capture this criminal! But then Ben said
" Just because I allowed you in this mission that does not mean you can do whatever you want There are going to be rules that you need to follow."
"Yes sir!"
" Rule number one any information you gather you have to tell me directly no hiding anything from me understood?"
Carl just nodded
" Rule number two do not do anything stupid without my permission. If I tell you something you will have to listen no matter what you may think of it Understood?"
Carl Again saw problem with that rule so he nodded
" And lastly final rule I can make whatever rules I want depending upon how much stupid you are and you have to follow them no matter what"
"Hey!"
This time carl Protested one of his rules as he clearly just Called him stupid Also he cannot just make new rules whenever he wants to! That sounds unfair!
" Do you want to be on the mission or not?"
"...Yes"
Carl has no Choice but to agree with his terms or else he cannot participate at all in the investigation of the serial killer. Ben just nodded clearly satisfied that he agreed to all of his terms and now he just hopes that he completely follows through them and not break them at all because if he did then he may get hurt.
" Very well from tomorrow we are partners and we are going to investigate this togather. So, What time do you want to meet up?"
Carl Excited thought for a second and then said
" Let's first meet up at the morning and then after discussing what our next plan should be we can go on a nightly patrol at 10:30. How about this?"
Ben thought for a second and then nodded saying
" Yeah that should be alright See you tomorrow"
Both of them said their goodbyes and went the opposite way ben went towards the town to continue his patrol while carl Went to his room through the window and went to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be big day for him as he is going to partner up with the mysterious traveler kid and expose who this killer is terrorizing his home town.

Ok Guys another chapter is completed and took me a while because I am now focusing on other books as well My books are a bit struggling with their views and all so I am trying to figure out what I should do new to get my books more famous.
As you can clearly see in this chapter we are going to a much more detective/horror mystery vibes here. I am just experimenting with my writing skills and see how I can go with this plot so if it ends up ruining the whole book don't worry about it that much. I will make sure that does not happen
