Ray rose slowly from his seat.
For a brief moment, the weight of countless gazes settled on him. Students leaned forward, teachers watched with quiet expectation, and the presence of journalists added an extra layer of scrutiny to the already charged atmosphere.
Unbothered, or at least appearing so, Ray made his way up the steps to the stage.
Each step was steady. Measured.
When he reached the podium, he paused.
He placed both hands on its surface, letting his fingers rest lightly against the wood as he exhaled a slow, controlled breath. His eyes lifted, sweeping across the auditorium.
It was full.
Every seat occupied.
Every face turned toward him.
Waiting.
After a brief silence, he began.
"Dear students, teachers, the journalists present here in the auditorium right now, and everyone who'll be watching this later…"
His voice was calm, clear, and carried effortlessly across the hall.
"Good afternoon."
A short pause followed.
