Chapter 1 - Chapter One: Unfair Reincarnation, Not!

Arthur always felt like life had been a little unfair to him. Even his death hadn't been at the hands of Truck-kun, Van-kun, or even a small Car-kun or Scooter-kun. No, he was taken out by Drone-kun, who had scared him off a pretty tall bridge. He thought his luck had turned around after being reincarnated, only to end up as a bootleg Sasuke—but without the powers.

The body he had been reborn into was not all that complete; it was practically crippled, missing a right arm from the shoulder and possessing a blinded left eye. All of this was the result of a freak accident involving a "richie brat" who used his influence to sweep it all under the rug. Thankfully, the silencing money paid for Arthur's medical bills and some really pathetic tech prosthetics that gave him the smallest semblance of normalcy.

The stiff and clunky mechanical prosthetic worked via the control of nerve endings on the stump of his right shoulder. The highly experimental artificial eye was even more complex, yet it didn't really work other than giving him blurry images of black and white that weren't even in real-time. All of this his family wouldn't have been able to afford even if they went to court.

To top it all off, the world had just experienced a cataclysm. Dungeons sprouted and all sorts of monsters appeared out of the woodwork—that's right, a freaking apocalypse. Maybe in a normal world, he would have lived a normal life, but now, as a cripple in an apocalyptic era, he was as good as dead.

### The Outcasts

It all began the day before graduation. The students were on a high, excited and saying their final goodbyes. Arthur was among them, yet he had an obviously smaller circle of friends. They were a bunch of delinquents and social outcasts, so there was no judgment or ridicule amongst them; that's why they got along so well. Their group was made of:

* **Arthur the Cripple**

* **Luice the Fatty**

* **Brea the Clutz**

* **Chris the Unruly**

* **Don the Useless**

All five sported their own quirky dysfunctionality that either made others look down on them or simply made them unbearable to deal with.

*Sigh.* Arthur couldn't help but sigh as he gazed out the window. The cityscape outside was a scene of chaos. Fires broke out, creating columns of smoke. Gunshots and explosions rang out as the military, public security, and even armed civilians confronted the enemy.

What was this enemy, you may ask? Monsters. Yes, the monsters out of folk tales and bad fiction: zombies, beasts, goblins, ogres, etc. These monsters popped out from stone gates that appeared right out of the ground, which people took to calling "Dungeons." Unfortunately, several of these had popped up on campus simultaneously, resulting in a fierce confrontation.

It would have been a complete bloodbath if humans hadn't gained something from this whole situation. Along with the apocalypse came the evolution of mankind. People began to manifest supernatural abilities. Arthur had noticed three types of abilities so far: **Augmentation, Transformation, and Emission.** On top of that, the rate of evolved humans to non-evolved was fairly high—maybe 3 out of every 10 individuals. Arthur wasn't so lucky to be amongst that fraction; however, he seemed to have awakened something else.

### The System Awakens

**[Bing! Supreme Upgrade System is now available!]**

**[Unlocked Functions: Upgrade (Special), Analysis, Decomposition, Inventory]**

* **Upgrade (Special):** Capable of upgrading, enhancing, and modifying non-organic entities infinitely with the use of resources.

* **Analysis:** Provides data on living and non-living entities.

* **Decomposition:** Upon contact, can break down materials to their purest form.

* **Inventory:** Storage space only capable of holding non-living entities.

Suddenly, Arthur didn't feel unlucky anymore. He glanced at his clunky prosthetic arm and used **Analysis**.

> **{Prosthetic Arm (Right Arm Module)}**

> * **Rating:** Inferior

> * **Tier:** None

> * **Description:** A pathetic excuse for a cybernetic implant.

> * **Upgrades Available:** [Strong Arm] required.

> * **Materials Required:** Aluminum, Polycarbonate, Carbon fiber.

> * **Available Modifications:** None.

>

The description was fairly on point, despite the fact it cost nearly half an average house mortgage. The **Artificial Eye (Left Eye Module)** was even worse—so much so that the system wouldn't even lower itself to comment.

### The Raid

Thankfully, Arthur and his group chose just the right place to hide when the dungeons broke out: the Campus Research Centre, Sector Five. This institute, supported by high government funds, was always stocked with raw materials needed to conduct research and experimentation. Unfortunately, they were all stored in accordance with their respective departments, so the materials he needed would be in the Engineering and Chemistry departments. On the other hand, he was currently in the Medical department.

"Luice," Arthur called out to his fatty friend.

"What's up?" Luice asked without taking his eyes off the window.

"Can you get me to Block B?" Arthur asked, causing everyone in the room to look at him, stunned.

"Are you kidding? It's a fucking war zone out there!" Chris shouted before he could even answer.

"I know, but there are things there that can make us stronger," Arthur explained.

"Your serious?" Brea asked hopefully.

"Positive. So Luice, you down?"

"If that's the way you wanna go, I'm down. Just stick to me; this big bro will protect you," Luice said arrogantly, causing the entire group to roll their eyes. But they knew he was right; after all, Luice had been the only one to awaken an ability amongst them.

"Then do we leave now?" Don asked.

"Let's gather all the medicine and medical equipment first. It'll be useful in the future if this world goes to complete shit," Arthur said.

With the always-lazy Don keeping an eye out, the rest of them gathered all the medicines and cold-storage chemicals, even the expensive high-tech equipment such as microscopes and computers used in research.

"Uh, you don't really expect us to haul this shit around, right?" Chris asked, slightly scared for her unruly nature.

"Don't worry, I got it." Arthur waved his hand, and all the items were put into his inventory.

The room went silent.

"Ah, fuck even you!" Chris exclaimed in outrage. Both Fatty and Arthur had awakened abilities, yet her—the most athletic out of all of them—hadn't, and it pissed her off.

"Oh, chill out, yours will come," Arthur chuckled and patted her shoulder with his remaining hand.

"Shut up, go to Blackbeard!" Chris gambled, to which Arthur laughed. It was what she started calling him after he started wearing an eye patch.

"Ready guys?" Luice asked.

The group nodded. They all wielded bats, pipes, or makeshift spears. Luice only carried several boxes of nails.

"Let's go."

With that, they quietly sneaked out of the room.

"Gaa!!"

"Fuck!"

Everyone exclaimed at their bad luck, because the moment they entered the corridor, a group of Kobolds appeared down the hallway.

"Take this, motherfucker!" Luice shouted and threw a nail, which accelerated mid-air and carved right into the Kobold's forehead, killing it instantly.

"Incoming!" Don warned as two more came from the opposite corridor.

"Fuck me... Lemme at 'em!" Chris exclaimed and charged with her bat.
