They rolled down the slope for a while before finally coming to a stop. Old Ye let out an "aiyo," clutching his knee.
Grandma Shen saw that his forehead was split open and there was something wrong with his leg, so she didn't dare move him. She looked up toward the top of the slope and seemed to see a figure flash by. She raised her voice and shouted, "Anyone there?"
She called for a bit; that figure seemed to glance their way, then quickly pulled back its head and left.
Old Ye and Grandma Shen had gone up the mountain to visit the graves. It wasn't until dinnertime, when Second Brother Shen came to his mother's place to ask about dinner, that they realized the old lady still hadn't come home.
