Chapter 7 - The Terror and Tears

Why were they leaving? Why were we frozen in place? Why? Was it because of terror? Yes! We felt what you call terror, a fear so intense that no one dared to move as we watched all of the EIHJ depart… but what were we afraid of? What?

The sight before my eyes was neither natural nor human; they were creatures, colossal titans, ranging from 40 meters to a mere foot, neither human nor animal, but a blend of all things. They came charging towards us, and I was paralyzed with fear.

Mythical creatures, but I knew this was the end. They closed in, and we were running, our hope dwindling. Suddenly, Emma, in terror, stumbled and fell, breaking her ankle, ensnared by one of the creatures, my… if only my brother had acted.

That creature had the body of a frog, standing on two legs, with a face resembling a human mixed with an alligator. It seized Emma, while my brother stood frozen, unable to react. He… he was supposed to save her, but I rushed as quickly as I could, though it was already too late.

As he opened his mouth, Emma screamed for help, crying, but in the end, she looked at me.

"I love you," her voice choked, drowned out by the ghastly sounds of her being devoured by that monster. But before it could consume her entirely, I arrived and sliced the monster into pieces.

"EIHJ! I… I… I WILL KILL YOU!" I shouted in rage, and everything went silent.

Holding her head, I knew she was dead, but I couldn't bear to accept it, for I felt dead inside too. Why her? Why? Were there no others? Not enough to kill? Why? Why?? I was shattered into pieces.

In a new scene from the past—

water flowing, a waterfall, birds singing—a boy age of 9 laying on the ground. Who is he? Me?

"Mikey! Where are you? Please come back home, Mikey?" Emma's voice echoed.

"Hehehe, I can't let her catch me," Mikey whispered. she suddenly camed from no where and said "Hmm, so here you are…"

"Emma!" I cried.

"Gomenasai, I broke your doll," I blushed and said.

"Hahaha," she laughed, holding my cheeks. "Why are you laughing? It hurts," I protested.

"Hehehe," she chuckled softly, then laid on me.

I blushed, and so did she, saying, "I'm not angry, but you can help me…"

There was a moment of silence, and I gently pushed her back, saying, "After we get married…"

She slapped me and exclaimed, "BAKAAAA!!! What do you mean? I meant just purchase me one…"

"Oh, okay, sometime," I replied. She said, "Anyway, let's go home; it's lunchtime."

Happily, I held her hand, leading her home to eat. And now, I hold her lifeless body, crying on the inside, knowing I'll never see her again…

Later, I had a fight with my brother, but I couldn't help it. We lost 40,000 soldiers, and thus the war ceased.

I visited her grave with a flower and a ring in hand; we had both turned 18 that year. Placing the flowers and the ring, I promised her I would never cry again and face my problems alone.

I made her one more promise—that I would destroy EIHJ.

With that vow, I departed… I am 40 years old now, but I haven't forgotten, and I will never forget that day and my Emma, my one true love.
