"Look behind you. It's dangerous, right?"
My voice was calm, almost amused, as I spoke to the stunned guards.
They hesitated for a moment before their survival instincts took over, and they turned around.
What greeted them was despair.
The thing standing behind them was something out of a nightmare—a Necrosome Giant.
Towering over four meters, its grotesque body was a fused mass of corpses, writhing and twitching as if they were still alive. Arms and legs jutted out at unnatural angles, countless faces frozen in expressions of agony and horror. Their empty, soulless eyes stared blankly in all directions, as if silently begging for release.
The air grew colder. The stench of death thickened.
The guards' fear reached its peak.
"Uwaaaaah—"
Panic spread through them like wildfire, their discipline breaking as the sheer terror of the situation crushed their morale. Some turned to flee; others dropped their weapons in despair.
I sighed.
A waste of energy.
In the next instant, I lifted my sword. "Solution."
"Yes, Alex-sama."
She handed me the blade with a graceful motion, her expression unbothered by the horrifying abomination before us.
I gripped the hilt and drew back my arm, shifting into a javelin-thrower's stance.
The guards barely had time to process my movement before I threw the sword.
The air cracked.
A boom followed as my weapon tore through space, vanishing in an instant.
The Necrosome Giant, which had been advancing with unstoppable force, suddenly lurched backward.
A loud, sickening crunch echoed across the battlefield.
A gaping hole appeared in its upper chest.
The sheer force of the impact sent the massive undead staggering, its many limbs flailing as if in agony. Several corpses that made up its body fell apart from the shock. The creature reeled, groaned, and then—
It collapsed.
The ground trembled as its enormous weight crashed into the earth, kicking up a cloud of dust.
The battlefield was silent.
The guards stood frozen in disbelief, their eyes shifting between the fallen giant and me.
How?
That one attack—one single throw—had brought down something they had thought to be an unstoppable force of destruction.
Solution gracefully walked forward, retrieving my sword from the grotesque pile of rotting flesh. The blood and filth that should have stained the blade dripped off as if repelled by an unseen force, leaving it perfectly clean.
She returned it to me, her golden eyes glowing with admiration.
"Such overwhelming power, Alex-sama. As expected of you."
I sheathed my sword and turned to face the guards.
"If you're done panicking, I suggest you focus on defending the city," I said, my tone flat.
The guards, still dumbstruck, could only nod weakly.
I glanced at the gate. The undead horde was still there. The Organ Egg pulsed, its vile, shifting mass of entrails writhing with an unnatural hunger. More zombies pressed against the walls, clawing and groaning.
The battle wasn't over yet.
The tension in the air was thick, the foul stench of decay clinging to the battlefield like a curse. The guards still hadn't fully processed what had just happened. Some were shaking, their spears trembling in their grip, while others seemed frozen, their faces pale with disbelief.
I ignored their reactions. There was still work to be done.
"Call the Adventurer's Guild, And by the My name is Alex and she is Solution." I said flatly, glancing at the highest-ranking guard nearby.
He jolted as if struck by lightning. "W-what?"
"Inform them of the situation," I repeated. "Tell them there's an undead outbreak, and if they delay, they'll have a horde breaking into the city before sunrise."
The captain hesitated for a moment before nodding rapidly. "Y-yes! You heard him! Go now!"
A few guards immediately broke off, sprinting toward the city, their armor clanking with urgency.
I turned away before they could say anything else. There was no point in waiting for them to act.
The real source of this problem was deeper inside the graveyard.
"Solution, let's go."
"As you wish, Alex-sama," she said, her ever-present smile unwavering.
