Chapter 603 - Chapter 599 - Open the Door!

"Eh..." Seeing MDR's cursing, the mercenary was startled. How could he put it? He had seen many dolls, both civilian and military. Those dolls were either as cheerful as little girls or as cold as ice cubes.

But MDR, as soon as she opened her mouth, began to 'kindly greet' them... This was the first time he had encountered such a thing.

"Ahem, you guys are really different from G&K dolls... Anyway, the situation is like this: our communication with the captain is disconnected. Those guys in the city smash any electronic device they see, they also have a signal jamming device."

Although the communication equipment used by the Giant Snake Mercenary Corps was not military-grade, it had been modified from civilian equipment, making it enough to cope with jamming devices used by their peers.

They were stuck in this godforsaken place because the captain had said to wait for half a day without contact. Otherwise, they would still be happily chatting and playing cards at the stronghold.

Fortunately, these dolls arrived just in time, including the guy smoking and blowing smoke rings. Otherwise, no one would have noticed the drone the doll put out.

Nowadays, drones fly silently, like ghosts, above people's heads, seeing their every movement clearly.

"Okay, so when are you going to open your mouth and say a name? You can't just say 'hey, hey, hey' or something like that. At least give a code name or something." UMP45 looked at the mercenaries.

They seemed anxious, but not panicked, indicating this wasn't the first time they'd lost contact with their captain.

"Sasha, it's a name, sort of a code name. These days, a lot of people on one street share the same name." Sasha said, spreading his hands and looking towards UMP45's team.

"UMP45, and this is UMP40," UMP45 said, pointing to 40 beside her.

"Oh, those are very nice guns. So these two, wait, let me guess? This silver-haired doll must be MDR, right?" Sasha guessed, narrowing his eyes and staring at MDR's etched weapon.

"Isn't it obvious? I can't believe you've never heard of this gun!" MDR patted her imprint weapon, clearly unwilling to admit it wasn't as famous as the UMP45s.

"Ahem, sorry, I wouldn't have recognized it if I hadn't read an antique magazine the day before yesterday. Here it is."

Sasha took out an old magazine rolled into a tube from his coat pocket and spread it out in front of MDR.

Seeing MDR's displeased face, Sasha hurriedly turned to look at Vera, who wasn't holding a weapon, and changed the topic to avoid MDR's potential outburst. "And this one? I can't really tell..."

Apart from her carrying bag, Vera only had a camera hanging around her neck, so he couldn't identify her.

"Look away! Be careful, or I'll dig out your eyes and stuff them with marbles!" Noticing Sasha's gaze, MDR pulled Vera behind her, swinging her weapon, her finger on the safety.

"Ahem, sorry, sorry, sorry!"

"She's not a tactical doll. Just remember our code names. So, are you going to your leader now, or sending the kids away first, as your client requested?" UMP45 said, narrowing her eyes at Sasha.

"Uh, we still have to wait for our captain here. If you can do it yourselves, it's fine to help send the kids away first." Sasha pointed to the largest house behind him.

"Cut! Wouldn't it be easier if you had said that earlier? Follow the blah blah blah thinking you have a big face?"

Sasha, planning to lead the way, turned around and heard MDR's muttering, making his face turn black.

How annoying was this doll? She was beautiful but had a foul mouth!

The orphanage Sasha pointed to was better than the surrounding ragged houses, though still dilapidated. At least it looked inhabited.

There were no children in sight, presumably restricted by the mercenaries or clients.

"Misha! It's Sasha! Brother Sasha! The people your new dean found to send you away have arrived. Come out and leave with them!" Sasha knocked on the orphanage's wooden gate, trying to sound less forced.

Ka-la.

Hearing Sasha's words, the tightly closed gate suddenly opened a crack, revealing half a small face. MDR curiously approached, cell phone in hand, ready to take pictures.

UMP45 quickly dragged her back, jokingly. This was not the time to fool around. What if the child got scared and thought they were bad guys?

Fortunately, Sasha's familiarity and the dolls' design, which increased affinity, gained some goodwill. The child, gripping the bolt tightly, glanced between Sasha and UMP40, then nodded.

"Hasn't Dean Tania returned yet?"

The girl, Misha, looked to be in her late teens at first glance, she resembled the T-dolls.

"Ah, the captain and the others are looking for her, but don't worry. Your new dean will definitely return safely!" Sasha said, giving a thumbs-up, not knowing if he was cheering up the girl or himself.

Hearing Sasha's lack of confidence, Misha frowned, then looked at UMP40. "You guys? Did the dean really hire you to take us away?"

"If you're referring to the people evacuating the still flat wasteland on the hill next to us, then yes, that's us." UMP40 nodded and said softly.

Misha's eyes lit up. "Then... I'll call everyone out!"

But she still glanced towards Sasha with some concern.
