In the days that followed, Nero noticed that the number of rumours about him began to increase. While previously, they used to be about his strengths or achievements, then now they began to be about his family and his criminal history.
In truth, more than 80% of the rumours - at least the ones that Nero himself heard - were fake. Very few actually mentioned anything true, which made sense since the whole purpose was to discredit him.
Yet hearing these rumours didn't bother him at all, for two main reasons. The first, somewhat minor reason was that this was a training academy. All the cadets spent most of their day training or studying, with very little actual time to do any gossiping. When such times came around, the cadets were usually too exhausted, trying to rest, or they were trying to use the time as effectively as possible by doing Crucible challenges, studying in the library or practicing their card crafting.
