Chapter 21 - A major battle

"Well then, let's start!" I said with a slight smile on my face.

Immediately after my words, Vali activated his gear, causing enormous mechanical wings that shimmered in bright blue to spread out hissing behind him. As soon as they fully formed, he shot into the thick of the action like an arrow, right where the most magicians were. We only heard him activate a special mechanism of his gear:

"Balance Break!" he exclaimed loudly, donning white and blue armor.

"Just like that," Issei said in shock, looking at his glove. "I sacrificed my left arm for this, and he only lasted ten seconds!"

"I think it's time for us to act too!" Rias said, clenching her fist. A determined fire burned in her eyes.

"We'll rescue Gaspar no matter what!" Issei voiced Rias's thoughts.

Issei and Rias took each other's hands. It didn't look like they were preparing for battle, more like a date, but in their gazes directed at Sirzechs, there was a steely determination. With a slightly eerie smile that promised nothing good if he didn't protect his sister, Sirzechs extended his hand towards them. A bright, glowing crimson circle appeared beneath Rias and Issei.

"I trust Rias to you," he said to Issei, his words laced with a barely perceptible threat.

"Yes!" Issei replied with some confidence, after which they vanished.

As soon as the magic circle disappeared behind them, a completely new orange circle appeared next to us. From it emerged a tall girl in glasses. If I remembered correctly, she was the primordial descendant of the Leviathans, Catrea Leviafan, who greeted the two demon lords with a small curtsy.

"Good day, Lord Sirzechs and Serafall."

The girl in glasses did not answer directly. Instead, she raised her staff to the ceiling and said,

"May chaos and ruin come to this world."

A bright orange glow began to emanate from the staff. A second of silence, and then - a deafening explosion that destroyed the entire space, leaving only ashes behind.

It was incredibly powerful and even a bit frightening, as I realized that with my current abilities, I was no match for her. She could have destroyed me with just a snap of her fingers.

"A protective barrier created together by three masters" Katrea said in a somewhat mundane, unremarked tone.

Honestly, I was already tired of listening to this, and I still didn't quite understand why we should wait for anything when our powers were far more formidable than theirs. Those demon masters, Azazel or Michael, could deal with this much faster than leaving it on the shoulders of children. Well, okay, Azazel was battling with Katrea in the original, he had other things on his mind!

"Guys, excuse me, but you handle this yourselves, I'm going to Vali. I have a bad feeling" I said to everyone under the barrier, stepping out from under it.

"What feeling? I already know what's going to happen. I just can't miss the chance to become stronger. Maybe it's selfish, but I need it!" I thought to myself.

Not waiting for responses, I stepped out from under the protective field. As soon as I was outside, I felt my wings unfurling on their own.

"Oh, how good it is that I've trained, now I can put everything into practice!" I thought, and without hesitation, I rushed into the epicenter of the battle.

A real storm broke out around me: enemies, like shadows, flickered in the air, trying to surround and destroy. But my wings carried me higher and faster than ever before. I flapped them, and a powerful gust of wind swept away some opponents.

The tip of my staff glowed brighter, releasing powerful spheres of light and fire that hurtled towards the enemies for their complete destruction. Each sword strike was aimed at the most vulnerable spots. I felt the adrenaline coursing through me as my body began to move on its own, as if in a dance, driven by instincts.

Our battle had been going on for some time, but the number of wizards didn't decrease; it was as if they were like cockroaches. They kept appearing again and again, their spells raining down, but I dodged, parried, and counterattacked.

But time went on. And with each new enemy, with each new swing, with each new burst of energy, I felt something inside me was draining. At first, it was barely noticeable tingling, then it turned into mounting fatigue. My wings, which had recently seemed like an endless source of strength, began to feel heavy. Each flap required more effort.

Slowly, with my last strength, I began to descend, which was incredibly difficult due to the relentless onslaught of wizards. At one point, I even regretted my reckless decision to go on the offensive. In that moment, I got distracted, trying to fend off another wave of magical arrows, and suddenly felt a sharp blow from behind. One of the enemies, hiding in the shadows, attacked me. I knew I wouldn't have time to dodge.

Suddenly, as if from nowhere, Mikhail appeared beside me. His eyes burned with determination, and a bright light radiated from his hands. He instantly placed himself between me and the attacker, raising his hand and unleashing a powerful beam of light that reflected the enemy's spell and annihilated the assailant.

Turning to me, he supported me under one arm and said, "You did great, proving yourself to be a brave and strong warrior," he began with a smile on his face, "but you acted too recklessly and unconsciously, rushing into battle unprepared," he concluded sternly.

After that, he moved me under the barrier where those who had joined the battle remained. Once there, I was able to catch my breath a bit and look around to understand where the fight stood in relation to the anime's storyline. At that moment, almost everyone who was able, except for Satan and Mikhail, was fighting on the battlefield. Meanwhile, Azazel had already pierced Katre's head with a light spear. And it seemed like everything should have ended, but...

POV Azazel

"You are not worth it" I said to Katre as I sent a golden spear into her.

This spear pierced her head right through, relieving me of my headache! But surprisingly, with the additional powers from outside, she managed to become an annoying bug.

"Aaaaa" she let out her death cry before disappearing.

"It's a shame even to waste hands for your life" I said with a voice full of regret.

I took off my gear and began using healing magic to stop the bleeding and heal my arm. After all, a severed limb with a lot of blood gushing out does not allow for a peaceful life for anyone.

While my arm was healing, I caught a sphere from the equipment I used in the fight for testing.

"It seems you still need some work; it looks like we have a long way to go, "Dragon King Fafnir."

"Finish off the others!" I said aloud while observing the course of the battle.

As soon as I relaxed, a blow came from where it was least expected. A very strong hit landed on my spine from behind, causing me to crash into the ground like a meteor, leaving a small crater after the fall.

"Cough-cough," I groaned as I slowly crawled out of the crater. "It seems you've forgotten who the enemy is, Vali " I said, turning my head to the guy flying in the air in his armor, carefully propping his head as if nothing had happened.

"Sorry, Azazel, but it's way more fun on the other side."
