Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Black cards and love cards

As soon as Lean walked out of the café she went to Trinity's bakery. Her steps hurried as she got inside the bakery. Trinity saw the urgency in the way she walked and signaled her to go inside her office...

Where she found her pacing around...

Before she could even greet Lean,

Lean dropped Tianna Hayden's number onto Trinity's table like a secret weapon. The café drama still clung to her, but now it was fuel.

"okay... So what should I do with number... You got me a girlfriend"

Seriously! " lean looked at Trinity hinting this wasn't time to joke around..

" fine sorry... Tell me what happened "with that Trinity took off her apron and sat down, listening to Lean as she explained what happened...

Trinity listened, eyes narrowing as Lean described the kiss, the bra, Debra's stunned silence. She didn't say a word, but the slow curl of her smile said everything. She leaned back, tapping her manicured nails against her glass, each click a silent victory drumbeat.

Debra had run off to prove herself in someone else's bed, desperate, reckless. Trinity didn't need to comment, her raised brow and amused glance made it clear she saw Debra's spiral for what it was.

This surely was trinity's best day ever. Just when the competition was getting real... Debra chose to make things easier and eliminate herself..

Now in order to make sure Lean remains hers, Trinity had to play the supportive friend card.

Without ceremony, Trinity slid her sleek black card across the table. No speech, no explanation. Just the card, gleaming under the light, heavy with promise.

"what's a card got to do with what I'm telling you?". Lean asked almost getting pissed off.

Trinity "whoa.. Listen.. You will need money to pay the lash tech right. Obviously hanging out with you means you'll be paying. You're Debra's cousin remember meaning you are monied according to her" she explained

"oh. Sorry. It does make sense actually. But ain't this an act of desperation"

Trinity" no. No its not. Its a game. Just don't get caught up in it, you know.. And end up falling in love with Tianna."

Lean picked it up, twirling it between her fingers. "So you're giving me the keys to the kingdom?" she teased.

Trinity's smirk deepened, but she stayed silent. Her eyes said it all. Debra wanted to bruise egos. Now let's bruise hers.

Lean laughed, low and dangerous. "Tianna will go where the money shines anyway. If you were my girlfriend I would have bought a cute set of lingerie for you tonight "

" ma'am even friends are allowed to do that aswell so go ahead ". Trinity said her gaze hard on Lean.

" well a lingerie is too much now. But i can sleep over.. "she said caressing Trinity's cheeks, melting her in the process

" okay. Umm i guess I'll be waiting for you, in the mean time go shopping. You need to look the part you know

"on it."

On the other side of town...

Debra couldn't focus. The office felt like a cage, her thoughts looping back to Tianna's kiss, Lean's calm lies, and obviously by now Trinity now knows what happened. Guess she finally gets the girl.

By mid-afternoon she slammed her laptop shut, this wasn't working, she grabbed her jacket, and texted her crew: Tonight. Club. I need noise.

She drove fast to her apartment to take a long bath. She needed to think straight but maybe after some clubbing. That would really help.

Bottles and Bt*c*s night club

The neon lights hit her like a wave when she walked in. Bass thumped through the floor, bodies moved like liquid, and her queer friends greeted her with shrieks and hugs.

"Girl, you look wrecked," said Nancy, pulling her toward the bar. "What happened?"

Debra ordered shots before answering. "You ever get blindsided in public? Like, someone just… kisses you in front of everyone?"

Her friends leaned in, eyes wide. This was definitely some news.. Debra never had something to say interesting ever since her break up with Clarissa.

"She kissed me," Debra spat, slamming back the first shot. "Tianna. Right in front of Lean. And then she gave Lean her number. In my presence. Can you believe that?"

The group erupted, half gasps, half laughter.

"Wait, wait," said Jordy short for Jordan, clutching their drink. "She gave your cousin her number?" he said looking amused by the drama. He adjusted his skirt so he can sit properly for the gossip

Debra groaned. "Lean isn't even my cousin! She lied on the spot. Said we were distant relatives. And Tianna bought it."

Nancy whistled. "That's savage. Lean's got ice in her veins." I wanna meet her "Nanny added grinning widely

Debra downed another shot, her words slurring into the beat of the music. "And Trinity… she's plotting. I can feel it. She wants Lean too. Everyone's circling, and I'm the one bleeding."

" honey not everyone is out to get you. You hit it first though. So technically Trinity gets to have your sloppy seconds" Jordy said

"lean is not a sloppy second, she's special. Fuck this hurts"

"no no! We here to party not to have a pity party" Nancy said standing up

Her friends rallied, pulling her onto the dance floor, spinning her until the anger blurred into laughter and sweat. But every time the lights flashed, Debra saw Tianna's smile, and Lean's calm face.

She shouted over the music, half to herself, half to them "I swear, I'm not letting them take her. Not without a fight."

The bass swallowed her vow, but her friends heard it. And in that neon haze, Debra's bruised ego turned into reckless resolve.

Guess the cards have been laid out on the table may the best lesbian win then..
